| (Ravenclaw - RAB *is* Regulus)
>_<
Okay, so, hello all *shuffles papers*
My side of the argument is that the elusive RAB, renowned for his fake lockets and sultry letters to the Dark Lord, is in fact the very same man as Regulus Black.
Why do I believe this, you ask? Well, gosh darnit, I'll tell you why! And I'm going to use a *lot* of cliches to do so.
JKR enjoys foreshadowing. Her books are filled with references that do not occur as a major plot device until several books hence. For example, the mention of Sirius Black in the first chapter of the first book, as well as the Horcrux in book two, the spectre of death in the form of the grim in book three (overshadowing Voldemort's rise in B4/5) and the House Elf Enslavement laws in Book Two, which becomes major players in Book Five. Thus, I believe that JKR's casual, but emphasised mention of Regulus Black (and his job occupation - going into far more depth for a supposedly minor character - we didn't hear anything about Gideon and Fabian Prewett other than "they fought like heroes"), is another hint towards the identity of the mysterious R.A.B.
Does anyone remember the "heavy locket that none of them could open"? What better place to hide something that you don't want found, than the most unlikely place ever? A household entirely dedicated to the Dark Arts. It's genius, when you think about it. Would Voldemort think, inside his strange thought process of grandeur, conspiracy and magnanimosity to think of looking right under his nose for his missing Horcrux (if, indeed, he knew it was missing)? I doubt it. This is going now on the supposition that the heavy locket is indeed the Horcrux, but in order for it to even get into the Grim Old Place when it was occupied would surely require a Black bloodline member, or another of Pureblood origin (bearing in mind that Regulus is the only Death Eater we've heard of to have turned against the Dark Lord - despite the hardships they've faced, the rest have remained loyal Death Eaters as far as we know) to have deposited it.

| (Hufflepuff-RAB is the Regulus we never knew nor never loved ^.^)
*claps* Very good, Jimmy, very good. You’ve made some very good points there, especially how JK likes to give little hints about something and then build them up into something much bigger and more important.
Now, onto the part where I actually do some debating! A fabulous idea, isn’t it? Well, as you all know-unless you live in a cave-Harry Potter has been translated into many languages, correct? Of course I’m correct I know everything. *coughs* But I digress. Moving on, we also all recall how ‘R.A.B.’ were the initials signed by the person who took the locket of Moldy short’s cave. Now, when this was translated into Dutch, Regulus’ name became “Regulus Zwarts” and the initials in the locket, in turn, became “R.A.Z.” When translated into Norwegian “Regulus Svaart” and “R.A.S.” where the results. The Finnish version (GO CAREE :D) has “Regulus Musta” and “R.A.M.” I’m sensing a pattern here. Now, doesn’t it seem mighty convenient that all translates out nice and matching-ly? The initials go with the name.
Now, speaking of names. Some of my opponents may state that one of the men from Borgin and Burkes could be the mysteries R.A.B. However, this is impossible, because they don’t translate in a nice matching way.
Come now, I believe we know our JKR well enough to know that if she dedicates a whole page in one of her holy books, and then drops him almost completely….there’s something up. I believe that something is that Regulus is R.A.B.

I believe that something is that Regulus is R.A.B. "Very impressive Gin!" Brunette exclaimed as she stepped up next. She cleared her throat and stared out to the awaiting audience. But, seriously how do we know if RAB really is Regulus Black? There isn't much evidence pointing his way so why assume such things? *tucks hair behind ear* Jk enjoys to drop certain major events that occure leaving us wondering. Ansd sometimes she surprises us in the next book because we did not expect that even to happen. So its very unlike JK to just so plainly put the initials out there. And we automaticall think Regulas Black? Come on now! Since when have any us ever believed JK to be so careless? It is very hard to predict where her story is going. So therefore I bring my speech to close. (gosh, i hope that made sense. This one was a bit tough for me! hehe ^.^)

| (RAB is Regulus) Holly Holly Holly. You say that she would be careless dropping the hints and foreshadowing that he was Regulus. And that she does things we wouldn't expect, and I think your right on teh latter opinon anyway. Now would we really expect her to be so simple about it being Regulus? No! So what I'm saying is that there is a good chance that she made it obvious to make us think it wasn't him when all along it was! That is most deffinately not something we would expect her to do. Furthermore, everything we have learned about Regulus, no matter how bitter Sirius is about his brother, makes us believe that he wasn't devoted to the Dark Lord. Which of coarse we all knew he wasn't, its curious though if it isn't Regulus then who could it be? Take a look at these quotes. - Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, American edition page 112 wrote:
-
"...They weren't alone, either, there were quite a few people, before Voldemort had shown his true colors, who thought he had the right idea about things...they got cold feet when they saw what he was prepared to do to get power, though. But I bet my parents thought Regulus was a right little hero for joining up at first." "Was he killed by an Auror?" Harry asked tentatively. "Oh, no," said Sirius. "No, he was murdered by Voldemort. Or on Voldemort's orders, more likely; I doubt Regulus was ever important enough to be killed by Voldemort in person. From what I found out after he died, he got in so far, then panicked about what he was being asked to do and tried to back out. Well, you don't just hand in your resignation to Voldemort. It's a lifetime of service or death."
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, American Edition, page 609 wrote:
To the Dark Lord I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match, you will be mortal once more. R.A.B.
Right there the first quote is what we know about Regulus and the second the very letter that fueled this debate. As I said before Sirius was bitter about his brother, more then likely he never knew why exactly Regulus was killed. And probably wouldn't care, we do know that Regulus served Voldemort though. And if you look at the letter you will see its adressed to the Dark Lord what his followers called him. So obviously thats a big hint. And now I shall leave you to pounder over what I have written. (I hope it makes sense XD)
