| i figured as it is the spin off from dr who that it needed a new thread, i hope thats ok!
I missed the first of the double bill but ive seen the second and i watched the third repeat tonight and it is amazing. I loved the third one especially. I think it is a more mature approach than that of dr who.
That girl in it - the police woman - i recognize her - wasnt she in dr who?

| Yep, she played Gwyneth in "The Unquiet Dead" - the third episode of series one.
I think it has to be more than a coincidence that the same actress is playing a character called Gwen, in Cardiff (same location as in The Unquiet Dead), and is living near the rift (same rift that was in The Unquiet Dead that the gelth came through).
However, Gwyneth died in The Unquiet Dead, so I don't know how she came to be Gwen in modern times lol.
Anyway, I really like Torchwood, but not as much as Dr Who, of course.
Did anyone else notice that Captain Jack has the Doctor's hand? In the first episode he mentioned it - and remember in the Christmas ep of Dr Who, The Doctor's hand is cut off?

| Well they didn't mention that it was the Doctor's hand, but I think that's what it was supposed to infer. I'm not sure how he got it either lol. I don't think we're ever really told how Captain Jack got off Satellite Five (was that what it was called? I can't remember lol), but The Doctor sort of explained it in last years Children in Need special. Rose says "Let's go find Captain Jack, he'll know what to do,"' The Doctor: "Nah, he's too busy rebuilding the Earth." Referring I suppose to him becoming part of Torchwood. The children in need mini-ep is at youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwPZUzAITFU | |

| I love torchwood!!! There has been only one episde I thought was rubbish - the one a couple of weeks ago about that person who was invisable. It reminded me of the rubbishy dr who one where we followed that boy and hardly saw the doctor and rose.
The faerie episode was brilliant! I also loved the last one where a 1950's plane suddenly arrived in present day yet they had only been flying for half an hour. Apparently the woman piolet is based on someone in real life who vanished in her plane over the sea never to be seen again

| Veoh have episode one of series two - Spoiler:
I thought it was a great series opener, I liked how we saw Jack come back to the team, though I can't help wondering what happened to Torchwood during the year that never was.
The fish monster was a bit strange, but the character of John and his storyline was good.
Like the Doctor Who Christmas special, the best bit was seeing what's coming up Cheesy I'm really looking forward to seeing Martha come into the series, because I liked her in DW S3, and although I know she's coming back for S4, I wish she'd stayed on as his companion.
Oh - and who's Gray?? I got the impression that the hand being held was a child's - Jack's son?
Anyway, very much looking forward to the rest of the series.

| Right, i woke up this morning to John saying "did you hear what i said last night about Jack?" The honest answer was a complete blank look. So John told me what he found whilst reading about the new series of Lost over at a Lost Forum....i squeeled and giggled when i heard this: - Spoiler:
THIS WAS TAKEN FROM WIKIPEDIA
The 28 October 2006 Radio Times, in an image of the Torchwood Three headquarters, identified a piece of large coral on Captain Jack Harkness's desk as the beginnings of a TARDIS. John Barrowman, who plays Jack in Torchwood and Doctor Who confirmed that "Jack's growing a TARDIS... It's probably been there for 30 years. I suppose in 500 years he'll be able to begin the carving process".
How i never knew this i just dont know. But its funny to think of the doctor's reaction to that bit of news

We're nine episodes in and I'm loving it! Where's the so-bad-it's-good Torchwood from last year? :D

| *crying terribly* i *sob* found *sob* a *sob* rumored *sob* MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR spoiler *cries hysterically* and i was wrong when Amy and i were talking on Skype about a possible spoiler. so here we go. - Spoiler:
Apparently most of this is from a shooting script. The chances of it being true are 50/50, depending on the reliability of the source. The only thing we do know for certain - from fangirls witnessing a scene being shot in November that involved JB, James Marsters and a guest actor - is that Jack is stabbed by Gray at some point, during an argument in an isolated area.
Captain John has set bombs all around Cardiff. They explode, but he and Captain Jack are sucked up into a Riftstorm, and deposited in Cardiff, 2000 years in the past. The rest of the team discover that Captain John's bombs have damaged Cardiff's nuclear facilities.
John explains to Jack that he jumped into the Rift because he's under the control of Gray, who has basically turned him into a walking bomb via a wriststrap fused to his skin. At that moment, Gray appears through the Rift. Jack hugs his brother.. who then stabs him, and makes John cuff Jack's wrists and ankles, dig his grave, and bury him. (Just before he starts to fill it in, John throws a ring down into the hole.) Gray's insane, having been tortured by hellish creatures for years, and hates Jack - both for being immortal, and for losing him all those years ago.
He sets John's wriststrap for one trip, and only one... John goes to Cardiff.
Gwen finds him in the Hub, and wants to know where Jack is, and what's all this about a brother, etc... Gray then turns up accompanied by weevils (who only Owen can control as it seems he's still King o' the Weevils).
Not sure of exact order at this point, but Ianto saves John from weevils, then Grey finds John, much to his disappointment (he didn't expect John to want to do the right thing)... then he shoots Tosh. Owen is busy away somewhere trying to stop the nuclear whatsits from going into meltdown.
After shooting Tosh, Gray goes all psycho killer and wants to sit and talk to her as she dies... but he hears noises in the Hub and goes to investigate. Tosh lies dying, but continues what she was doing before she was shot - helping Owen via an intercom type thing. He doesn't know she's dying, but she knows he's going to be killed by the nuclear radiation inside the chamber he's stuck inside. They die together, apart.
Gray goes to investigate the banging he can hear. It's coming from the morgue. He opens a drawer and... it's Jack. John's ring *is* a bleepy thing. [Flashback] It's tracked down by two women from TW circa 1900 - Jack's been down there a long time. They dig him out, and he asks to be put in the morgue so he doesn't meet himself etc. [/Flashback] Jack tries to walk away, Gray starts telling him all about how he'll never forgive him etc. So, er, Jack knocks him out with a stinky hanky.
He goes into the Hub, Gwen and Ianto get hugs and stuff - this is all happening while Tosh and Owen are dying - apparently just as Owen dies, Jack runs in on Tosh, and she dies in his arms. Gwen gets upset.
Jack and John have a goodbye scene - John suggests he kill Gray, but Jack decides to put him on ice too I think - they have a snog, and then John decides to go backpacking round Europe, or something.
Finally - the team are clearing out Tosh and Owen's bit of the office. Packing up their stuff, logging off their PCs - Tosh's PC responds to this by popping up a video!Tosh. She says she realises she must be dead, and that she hopes it wasn't a trivial death. She loves them all, says thank you to Jack, tells Owen he didn't ever realise (but he's not there! argh! *gnashes teeth, wails* )
Final scene is Jack, Gwen and Ianto sitting on the docks.
*cries some more* | |

| omg THANKS! *huggles tightly* I think i may love Capt John more than Jack at the moment xD i'm downloading the whole of series one and two to go with my Dr Who collections because i'll have horrid withdrawl symtons when Torchwood ends and i know ill only have about a week or so to wait for the new series of Dr who buttttttt thats a LONG time. and now there is rumours that Torchwood may NOT have a full 3rd series. - Spoiler:
Its rumoured that, they'll do a selection of specials like Dr Who just to test the waters to see how people react to the deaths of Tosh and Owen.
BUT i think this may just be a VERY bad rumour. Because Burn, who plays Owen has said in an interview he will be in series 3 although a lot of people are saying it may just be in flash backs i think thats sucky because this is Torchwood not Lost.
*goes to watch Fragments* i'd love to know where Amy Downloads the episodes from because Limewire doesnt have them all. EDIT: oh my god, i just gone done watching Fragments! - Spoiler:
I never expected Tosh to have worked for TW for 5 years because she was in 2 episodes of Dr Who but i guess she played another charector, how stupid am i? And OMG Owen! I was almost in tears when i saw what happened to him! Ianto - well, atleast now i know where that bloody dinosaur came from Jack - HA! He got his arse kicked by 2 girls! Bet he loved that! I think im starting to fall out of love with my husband simply because of what he did to Tosh, i mean come on! Why no contact with her mum? Why only allow her to send postcards? THAT SUCKS! Also the look at TW before Tosh and Owne and co sor fo filled in some blanks for me which is cool, i was kinda confused when it said 1,300 or something death earlier lol i was like wtf? Then i realised it was the amount of times he'd been killed. Capt John - my previous spoiler about the end of series seems to be more and more true i love John and i hope to see him series 3 i just knew he was the one who left TW those lovely lil bombs, and i bet hes joyriding through cardiff in the TW car lmao..
Another thing as well, since we know that Jack is - Spoiler:
The Face of Boe and he knows what he becomes etc, why did he tell the Dcotor in New Earth that when they meet for a 3rd time he'd reveal his secret about the doctor not being alone? I mean by my calculations by the time they meet for the final time its like their, 4th or 5th meeting. I think he may mean as in their meeting whilst he is the face of boe, but i wish he could of said something like "I am Capt Jack" instead of "You are not Alone." I mean come on, i would have squealed even more to hear him say that....and has anyone noticed in the Capt Jack Harkness epi of the first series of TW that theres a vote Saxon poster on the doors of the hall where Jack and Tosh get trapped in 1941?

Oh and was it just me or was Captain John really easy to read. I mean I figured by the look in his eyes and manor of speaking that it must be Gray behind it all and that he blames Jack for everything.

| (Cross posted to my LJ) 2x13 - Exit Wounds.- Spoiler:
Wow...that was sad. A very bleak note to end the series on (bolstered though I think by the very up-beat DW pretty much straight away). I'll admit it. I cried :D It was Tosh's "You're breaking my heart!" line that got me and I was teary eyed for the rest of the episode. I haven't cried at a TV programme since Doomsday.
I thought the actor who played Gray was dreadful, despite having more than a passing resemblance to JB. It was great to see James Marsters back as Captain John - and to find out that he wasn't horrifically evil after all!
There were several plot holes...technological ones as well as ones that are just plain weird. Jack, buried underground for almost 2,000 years? Yet he's physically and emotionally (well, sort of) fine when he's dug up? His clothes haven't disintegrated (darn it, there was a chance for nekkid Jack there that they missed!)
I liked seeing Victorian Torchwood again, though. I also liked that we got an explanation for why Tosh was dealing with the Space Pig from AoL/WWT - it was just cos Owen had a hangover :D
Watching this episode has got me wondering about Weevils again. Where are they from? Why do they all wear boiler suits? How are there so many of them in the city yet they're not seen all that often? I'm also kind of fed up of them, to be honest. I hope they're not used so much next series.
Overall, this has been a good series of Torchwood - better than good, in fact. The only episode that I really disliked was the one where Owen spent most of his time up on the roof; I just found that one incredibly boring. Also, I'm intrigued as to how Jack's going to come into this series of Doctor Who - if it's not too long after Exit Wounds took place then he's going to be a bit emotionally shook up. We'll see.

That line made me cry too! I never cry over stuff normally. I didn't much like the actor who played Gray. But I was so sad that Jack had to do that to him. I mean yeah he isn't dead, but still! Actually I almost think it would have been better to save Gray from suffering by killing him, even if it would be really sad. A nekkid Jack would have but great I hope there is a new season....I mean it won't be this same without Owen and Tosh, but I do love my Jack and Ianto. *wishes Gwen had died instead of the other two*

| I was reading Tube Talk on Digital Spy earlier and it's practically guaranteed that there'll be a series three. - Spoiler:
Let the conspiracy talk begin! We didn't see Owen's death. We didn't see his body. Who's to say he's actually dead? Especially considering he was already dead anyway.
Naoko Mori did an interview with Digital Spy talking about Tosh's death and that seems pretty final, although she says she would return if there was a good reason for it - anyone think we might be seeing the resurrection glove again? :D
I'm personally hoping that they'll bring Martha back as a full time member of the team next series. She's known to the team from her cameo this series, she's a doctor, she knows about aliens and the Torchwood team are now short of a Doctor. It'd be great, IMO, especially because apart from the first episode she was in this time, she had a pretty much redundant role.

- Spoiler:
Especially if there is another scene like Gwen walked in on in episode 11 Well I think Owen's body will fall apart due to radiation, but who knows maybe he will be lucky lol. And a resurrection glove again? I do hope so cause I love Tosh. I can relate more to her. Though if you think about it, if they keep bringing people back with the glove it will get a bit tiring. I think I would like Martha to join. I miss her lol.

At the end of this series of Doctor Who, Jack is seen walking off with Mickey and Martha. A computer expert and a doctor...and which characters need replacing?
I for one would love to see this :D

| meh ive heard that as well, along with this: - Spoiler:
Series three of Torchwood will be like series five of Doctor Who - just a small number of specials. I hope not, but i can see why they may choose this path, Tosh and Owen were HUGe charectors and bringing in Martha and Mickey well its a big gamble, if i didnt love Jack Ianto and Gwen so much i'd simply refuse to watch Torchwood should the 2 Ms join. Also i didnt like Martha when she was in Torchwood, i think its because of her new charector kinda thing she's not trainging to be a Doctor anymore and is instead working for UNIT who i just dont like after what they did to Tosh! And ive still not forgiven Jack for what he did as well.
Ive also heard that Burn who plays Owen has said he'll be in series three, it'll be interesting to see because as we know Owen was already dead, we dont know what the radiation will do to his body, maybe it will just deform him slightly and he will come walking into Torchwood and be like "what?"
personally i hope its all lies, since i cried like a baby at the end of Torchwood even though i knew what was going to happen.
Oh and the whole Mickey thing, it makes me wonder what on earth happens to Rose to make Mickey leave her again, he only left her the last time to be in the other dimension where he was needed, and he knew she'd never love him the way she loved the Doctor and the Doctor was still around, without the doctor well Rose and Mickey would have worked together in the other dimensions torchwood sooooooooo it makes me wonder what the out come of Doctor who will be.

Yeah, someone on PFW posted the following this morning with regards to Torchwood: - Quote :
- 1. The season will be featuring Martha again.
2. The season will be a shorter one-arc story. Maybe as short as 5 episodes.
3. Captain John Hart will be back. I can see mixed reactions if Mickey and Martha join the team...I personally really like both characters, so I'd like to see it happen.

| whispers* your spoilers are broke okay so i like the 3rd one, but i mean who wouldnt? i shall start a campaign and name it "Bring Capt John Hart Back So we Can ALL Drool Over Him" Im also concerned that the next series of Torchwood will be somewhat poor because that writer dude is leaving/left to go work for ITV and i did really love the second series of Torchwood more than the first. I just want to ask though, what is everyones favorite episodes from the first and second series? From series one my favorite has to be: Small Worlds - JB was AMAZING as Jack in this epi, it was the kind of episode id ppicture DT doing extremely well in Dr Who but with Jack it just seemed so much more better. and from series two: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang *squeal* need i explain why? AND Soething borrowed - i loved it! serioulsy brilliant! AND i loved the whole Jack and "the picture" at the end, so many questions be answered hopefully in the next series. | |

| Yeah, Small Worlds was one of my favourites from S1. I also liked Greeks Bearing Gifts because we got to see a lot more of Tosh's character.
From S2, I liked Something Borrowed - classic Torchwood - and I like Fragments because we go to see how each team member was recruited.
So that's favourite episodes...what about least favourite episodes?
From S1 I thought Cyberwoman and Countrycide were absolute horrors - poor writing, stupid plots, just bad in general.
From S2, I didn't like the episode A Day in the Death with Owen going all emo on the roof, and I thought the story for Adrift was a bit weird.

| My fav episode from S1 is Captain Jack Harkness and my fav episode from S2 is Kiss, Kiss Bang, Bang I don't really know about my least favs...I'll have to think about that. Oh and John Hart should join S3 cause I love him lol. - Spoiler:
I wouldn't mind if Martha joined Torchwood. Mickey though, ehh. Never was too big on him.
I hope Torchwood S3 isnt too bad...I mean with Tash and Owen dying I am worried.

- Hey guys,
I attended a convention with Doctor Who, Buffy and Heroes guests today and met James Marsters.
He told me that he filmed his last scenes on the finale of Torchwood season 2 and has been asked back for season 3!!!
He also said he cannot wait to go back as its an awesome show.
Just thought id let you all know!
Sam x
HOPE THATS TRUE!!! *squeals some more and begins daydreaming* oh all right here we go some more bits and pieces, i dont think i need spoilers for this but if i do, someone shout at me and i'll edit...or Amy can edit hehe *waves* OKay this is from a Torchwood conven with James, Gareth, Eve and Kai (John, Ianto, Gwen and Rhys) Full reports can be found on LiveJournal's The Torchwood Institute. 1) Apparently Eve Myles is totally lovely and down to earth. She also has quite an amusing giggle. She mentioned that when she was filming the Jack/Ianto snogging scene, she was considering not saying her lines, so that John and Gareth would go on for longer. Eve believes that Gwen really does love Rhys, it's simply the case that everyone fancies Captain Jack. She and Kai also re-enacted their "aliens, in Cardiff" scene from Meat. 2) The first anyone knew about Owen and Tosh being killed off, was when they recieved their scripts for Exit Wounds in the post. They all found it difficult to take in. 3) According to Richard Stokes, RTD will be leaving Doctor Who next year, though it hasn't been officially announced. Series 5 of Doctor Who will have completely different people behind it. Torchwood S3 hasn't been officially announced either, though it has been comissioned. 4) James Marsters and Gareth David-Lloyd were quite dirty on stage together. Gareth said that he wouldn't mind "a Captain sandwich with Ianto filling, toasted" and James also mentioned that he wouldn't mind a Ianto/John snog at some point. Gareth and James acted pretty much like a young couple at several points, including James saying that he thinks Gareth is one of the best actors that he's worked with in 15 years and there was plenty of touching, hugging and joking between them throughout the day. As you can imagine, both Gareth and James were asked about Jack/Ianto/John quite a bit. 5) Gareth's favourite episodes to film were Adam and Fragments. Apparently during the episode Something Borrowed, Ianto originally had a long driving scene in the SUV but it got edited. He was quite nervous about doing the sex scene in Adrift but John and Eve put him at ease. He wants better shoes in S3, as his current ones cause him to slip about quite often. Like Eve, he was very upset when he found out that Owen and Tosh were going to be killed off, as it felt like they were all a family. 6)Kai Owen was apparently very lovely and also a bit naughty, though not quite as naughty as Gareth and James. He was pleasantly surprised at the amount he was given to do during S2 and working with Eve every day was a huge pleasure. 7)When James Marsters was unable to sing during the evening due to illness? Kai performed some entertaining stand-up for about 15 minutes and both he and Gareth did some singing towards the end. Kai apparently has a good singing voice, as does Gareth, though Gareth is more hard-core in his taste of music. 8) Gareth clearly reads some of the Jack/Ianto fanfic that's on the net. And I've already mentioned that he's quite a dirty boy!

| Well, I finally got hooked on this...kinda. At least, I watched most of the episodes that you guys said were your favorites, cos when I tried watching the first eppy awhile ago, I was NOT impressed.
So now I've decided, it's pretty good, but it just doesn't compare to Doctor Who. Maybe because Jack isn't as intriguing as the Doctor, because we know more about him, but I think Doctor Who just has a certain energy that's lacking in Torchwood.
