I've just posted a first attack...do I just have to wait until i get a reply? or can i post again with more powerful stuff? Can I defend against what she does or does she decide what happens to me? If I shout expelliarmus, is that the end of the match?

no - these are valid questions!

Yes - you have to wait until your opponant has their turn. You can only do your own actions! You can defend their attack as they do with you and then fire an attack back. If you shout expeliarmus - they have to defend against it and continue until you both have done your six turns - it does not end the match!

And also, I've done a spell that I created and then I followed up with a protego, is that ok?

As long as you put what your created spell does in brackets then yes that is great

what happens if the person did the spell and she said what happened to me. Is that allowed? Like she could say I fell? I went with it anyway but I wanted to know so I could say whether for something happens to her.

p.s I just wanted to add, I'm not allowed to post this on their thread during vtheir duel but "Hooray for Duck the Duck and Lilyflower! Their duel is quick and powerful! :cheers:

Everyone should only say their own actions not their opponants, yet they can mention what the spell begins to do - which gives your opponant time to deflect it!

how will the scores be awarded? is it for creativity, or length of posts, or how do you decide who wins the game? I mean, if someone's got the last post, that would mean that person wins? Not a good idea. Yeah, and I have to admire kitty, her posts are funny and almost like a very short fic. haha, I love reading them! Even though she's supposed to be my enemy, you can really tell she's a good writer.

The duels will not be marked due to who wins. You will all be given points for each post (10) up to a maximum of 60 for your match for things like creativity, use of offensive and defensive spells, spells that work well together etc etc

Your scores will then be added to the scores post in this forum and the lowest 4 people in round 1 will be knocked out!

How many rounds are there/will there be?

I'm still a tiny bit confused about the latest duel instructions. Are we supposed to be us with our opponents dueling styles or be our actual opponent? For example, would I do the first post as Jen with Herb's style or as just plain Herb?

Could we have a short break for duelling? Like a week or so? Because I have exams right now and I haven't kept my promise to stay off the site for two weeks so far (how could I?!)

I don't know about every one else, but I really need a week to concentrate on work...After that I'm on holiday so I should be free all day...Is that possible, PLEAAAAAAASE? *begs and pouts*

This may be dumb...but when is the next tournament going to start? I want to be in it so badly o.o

If our dueling partner doesn't post,do we get assigned a new one?

I was wondering... in round one we filled out those questions and it asks about our wand type and stuff like that.... well i was wondering if half way through the dueling tournament if we where able to "update" it of we had taken a quiz during it.....I mean I dont have my wand yet becuase I never took that quiz yet for it and I was wondering what if I take it half way through the tournament... Could I change it to say that i did take it or would I have to wait til the next tournament to chnage it?

I have a couple quick questions. The first one may have an answer I simply overlooked. If so I'm sorry for my ditziness. How long does each round last?

The other is, when inventing spells, are we allowed to use any language or are they supposed to be latin and greek based only?

The first round will be open for about a month - to give everyone a chance to post. Of course, if all duels get completed before then, it will close sooner. I'll put up the closing date a few days in advance.

As for the spells, they can be based in any language - just remember to put a translation either in brackets, or at the end of your post.

I put it in my post, that a three-head dog monster use Legilimency to help me out by giving me a weapon and some moves and one of the member started complaining so is it ok to do it like that?

No, you wouldn't be able to do that. When duelling, you are playing yourself, as a witch, so only Harry Potter canon can be taken into account.

Yes, if you're knocked out before the final then the points accumulated are transferred to housepoints. If you get to the final then as well as the points you've earned becoming housepoints, you'll also get a bonus.

You can conjure whatever you like to help you in the duel, however try to make it realistic - not so that it will stop every spell etc. When I used to participate in the duels rather than run them, I remember conjuring birds, dogs, rabid beasts etc. This is allowed.

Can we use close-range magical weapons such as magical sword, axes or others.

John will be absent for awhile as a Cyclone hit his country. Does it count as a loss?
