Part One: Short Answer

1) Runes are an ancient Germanic alphabet, used for writing, divination and magic. They were used throughout northern Europe, Scandinavia, the British Isles, and Iceland from about 100 B.C.E. to 1600 C.E. Each rune has esoteric meanings and properties associated with it, beyond its mundane meaning and phonetic value. Each translates into a word or a phrase signifying concepts important to the early peoples who used them, representing the forces of nature and mind. Each rune has a story attached to it, a relationship to a Norse God.

2) The word rune means mystery, secret or whisper.

3) They use runes also for devination, runes give someone a meaning of analyzing the path that one is on and a likely outcome. And they use them for magic.

4) The Old Germanic Runic Alphabet ("Elder Futhark")

5) The first six runes of the alphabet spell out the word "FUTHARK".

Part Two:

I think it`s important to learn runes because I like to learn other languages, and because I have a telescope and now that I know that runes are being used for Divination, I think that it will be good when I know the rune script.

Why is it usefull?
-You can use it while you`re in class. If you write notes to eachother, and the teacher notice this, he/she can`t read it! (Except is he/she knows the meanings of the runes ofcourse)

(Me and my other classmates actually really use the runescript for notes and such in real life)

-If you want a job in Divination, runes are used within that subject.

Like I already said, if you learn the runes, and you like to have a job in Divination, runes are very important and you can write things that some people don`t understand.

Runes

1)Runes were used by the people in North Europe around the time of c.e. to the Middle Ages. Runes are a system of magic and divination, while also an alphabet.


2)‘Rune’ come from an early Anglo-Saxon word “runa” meaning “secret” or “mystery”.


3)Another use for runes involves Divination. It is said that runes can also be used to tell fortunes. Many people use them to find out about the lives and ways of ancient people.

4)The Elder Futhark is the oldest form of the Rune System.

5)The first six runes are known as Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raido and Kauno. Many people think it is strange that these are the first six, and that the Greeks chose not to us Alpha and Omega as the first symbols. It is a fact, though, that ancient writers used these six runes frequently when writing. The following is a chart explaining these first six runes.

Part Two-

When you first think of magic, you probably think of wands and spells. You don’t usually think of runes.

Runes are extremely important to magic, though, because they were developed to explain magic. The symbols on these ancient stones are backed up by a huge history of ancient magic.

Runes are an opening to the past. Through this opening, we can understand the foundations on which our magical world is based.

It is vital and important to learn and understand runes, because if we understand them, then we can have a better understand of our own world and the world our ancestors lived in.

Part Two:

RUnes are really cool. And there still used today. This class can help us dive into the depths of ancient history through the uses of runes. And runes mine hide secrets long since buried in the back of ones minds. There are many uses for them. They aid in divination which is bery useful because we need to have tools to help us in life. Runes are also challenging. We can learn about their history and they are really neat symbols. I can't wait to learn more about them cuz they hold mystery. They fascinat us and tickle our minds with thoughts and wonders. Runes can be used in magical things as well as simply coding things for people to not understand. A rune by its self holds one meaning but put more runes with it and you can just imagine the many meaning that derive from it. Duude think about the cool way of writing it too. You know those Anglo-Saxons people had a good system with runes. Here's some facts you guys probably didn't know like did you know runic poetry was big back in those days. Duude think about the cool ways that Poetry was created with Runes!! Man I get excited thinking about it. Oh yeah and did you know the reason runes were made in magical practices? They simply could be linked together to enhance the power of the soul and energy around them to bring luck, protection, and fertility in women who couldn't have babies conceived easily.
I could go on and on but instead I will stop here. I will write more on this subject in the Extra credit place probably later. But think how much we learn from runes. Think of the mysteries we can unlock by deciphering their meanings. We have a key; we should put it in the lock and open the door to the world of runes.

4) What is the oldest form of the Rune System? Germanic is the oldest form. Many believe though that the runes were even earlier than 1,700 years ago though no record has proved this theory ture.
5) Is there anything special about the first six runes? If so what? Yes. The First seven runes make up the word FUTHARK- This means that they were the first runes and that the others were created and composed after it.

Ancient Runes is a helpful class because we learn about why we have runes today. Many of us still use them today as good luck symbols as well as symbols of art, of motivation and hope. We could benefit from ancient times as we learn more and more about our past; we come to discover just how closely nit we all are. Not many people know about runes unless they go to the movies or happen to stumble across one in a book and it peaks their curiosity.It is useful to know about runes because in a way it is an excellent history lesson. Runes are used in Divination practices as ways of telling the future. There are so many uses for them. And to quote Hermione "This class is fascinating" and I'm eager to learn more. I look forward to the next lesson and believe this is a very good class to have here.

Part Two:

I think Ancient Runes is an important subject to learn because of its uses in Divination and learning possible outcomes of the choices we make. Runes have special meanings as well, which enable us to work out what is in store for us. Runes can be used in magic in several ways. They can be said, inscribed on stone, used as talismans etc to carry out their functions. Also, each rune has a story behind it, so it can answer questions to guide users on to the right path. I think that runes would benefit us because they are a valid form of magic that still exists today and can be a powerful tool when in the right hands. Finally, runes are extremely interesting and it would be a great experience to learn lots of new things about them in class.
