One thing I don't quite understand is the huge following Blaise has in the HP fandom.

He's a very, very minor character, not mentioned much at all, yet there are a LOT of fics around shipping him with various female characters.

I don't think there's much to him, to be honest.

Dunno I think it is quite strange how he has appeared in man fan fiction though it may be because it is hard to develop a main character and is best to use minor ones because you can build on them *shurgs* I don't really think he will appear much in the next book if at all.

I personally LIKE Blaises Character. J.K.Rowling could have buitl more on him, and it would have been awesome..... but she didnt..... :-[

I, for one, truly liked this character because he was so undeveloped and that is great for molding a character into the world of fanfiction. In a few of my fics, he's like a main character. I believe that background characters such as Blaise and many of the other minor/unnoticed makes it great for us fanfic writers to mold, and give them depths. Bringing a character from barely there to the spotlight is something I like to see and do.
Though Blaise isn't mentioned very much at all, he is a great fic character.

Blaise Zabini had recieved quite a bit of following before HBP//before we knew his gender. Yes, we had no idea if he was a male or female. Commonly, Blaise was portrayed as either a redheaded female or an Italian male. And, there was just so much possibility. I remember the official "message boards"; the discussions and roleplays filled with Blaise. Such a mystery around him/her and I guess it just gave people something to talk about; you know?

By the way, has anyone read Cassie Claire's fanfics? The Blaise there is what used to be thought of. She made her to prominant because her fics were so perfect- so out there and creative. Blaise was portrayed as female, redhead, and the love figure of Draco Malfoy. I'm not sure what fic it is(Draco Dormiens, maybe?) But it was stunning. she has multiple -nods- But, that's where I believe the main fascination with Blaise started.

I didn't know that the many people were so interested in Blaise. I thought he was more of a minor charector until just now. I always assumed that he was boy, it never even came to my mind that he was possibly a girl.

Really? I prefer my girl!Blaise to the boy!Blaise. But, I guess it all depends really. Many people refused to accept the reality with Jo finally told everybody his gender. You would go to roleplay sites and on the canon list it would either be girl!Blaise or boy!Blaise. XD

He was in the SlugClub in the sixth book. His mother was the one who married like seven times and was extremely beautiful. I believe he was described as Black, Tall, and Well-Built with a shaved head? Hmm; I could be making that all up. But, many still do prefer him to be Italian. "Zabini" does seem very Italian. The thing I can not stand; when his name is spelled like "Zambini." Hello, he is not the ice rink machine. -is done rant-

Hes just such a great charactr because he is so underdeveloped. Now, I havent written anything on him, but there are tons of them out there!

The reason why he's in a lot of fanfictions is because he is a minor character, that way the writer can develop him. Personally I see him as one of the mindless Malfoy-following Slytherins, he doesn't have much say in any of the books.
