James Potter

How can you not like James? He is afterall the beginning of Harry Potter and died protecting his family, not to mention being a marauder!

I love James In fact, I love all of the Marauders (except Peter, for obvious reasons)

Even though we've not seen much of him in the books, and what we have seen (Snape's pensieve) wasn't all that...good, he is still one of my favourite characters.

I think perhaps my view has been shaped by some of the really excellent Lily/James fanfics - like Priori Incantatem by fellytone, and the "Deer to Me" series by sunsgoldenray.

The Marauder era is one of my favourite to read about in fics.

Im not all keen on reading marauder era fics - mainly because we know little about them compared to Harry's era.

James seemed to be a bit of remus and a bit of sirius all in one and as you, I love all three

I like Maruader era fics for precisely that reason - we don't know much and so can mould what we do know into a story of our own.

That is very true. I have never tried writing one, though, I am not the biggest of writers. I might try it though and maybe I will start liking that era more

I've written one Marauder era fic, but I prefer reading them.

But to get this back on topic...

Why do you think James trusted Peter so implicitly with the life of his wife and child? It seems a little strange to me, that if he didn't choose Sirius, he would choose Peter.

I think he chose him. I don't think Sirius would just pass it to him without checking with James first.

Cool! Back to James though. I think he's awesome. After all he died straight back and proud to Voldemort and is the rolemodel Harry needs. I think that he is very defensive and spoiled though, but I think that adds to his charector. He is a true Maurdereer and friend.

I think he picked Peter to be his secert-kepper becasue like Sirius said, noone in their right minds would think of him. James though trusted Sirius to make that decisioin for him. SO that shows us he is easily influenced by his friends as we know Harry is as well.

I always got confused with the secret keeper thing, I never understood why James would have trusted Peter over Remus

Becasue Sirius told him too. Sirius though that Voldemort would suspect him or remus or Dumbledore so he though Peter would be a good choice becasue he is a poor wizard. So really it was Sirius's theory not James

Though James must have still trusted peter to allow it to take place.

Also didnt james and sirius believe that remus was a traitor? I never understood why

Harry can never forget his father. He loves him with all his heart! Although he is gone he has played a mojor role in the books!

Do you think the role will get bigger? or will it disinergrate

I think we might hear about him more. Harry's mum and dad will have a great influence on him and one of the things that will drive him to kill voldemort.
I really like James though with the little we know about it there is not much way we could go with him though I think he is a very brave man and must have loved lilly dearly. I mean he waited what 7 years to get her?

I can't remeber what we learned about him really in the final book... help. lol

i think james definitley matured over the years because at harry's age he was just like snape said.
