| Now i really love the first two. I havn't yet read the third book, specials but i intend to
I think scott westerfield is a really good author, he has also written the midnighter series which i ahve yet to read the last book. But these books are also rather good.
I really like the idea of these books, and thought it was really cleverly thought out to make rustys (which are basically us as we are now) made to look really stupid by all the crazy things we did to the world etc.
I jsut got really annoyed when tally kept getting caught and at the end of Pretties became a special! It isn't fair! I really need to read specials now, I need to know what happens and also to find out what happened to thand the new smokies and Zane and also who she is goign to choose. | |

I thought it was sad Zane died But to be honest, I'd never warmed to him completely as a character. It was always there in the back of my mind that he was standing in the way of Tally and David, so it didn't bother me when he died, to be honest. I thought the ending was great! I loved that Dr Cable was cured, and that it was she who helped Tally escape, and I thought the resolution was really good.
I've given the book to Elly now, so she'll be finished soon :D | |

yeah, I agree with you...the whole time Tally was with Zane I was thinking, what about David? and I figured that there was no way to break up Zane/Tally unless either he cheated on her or he died...so I kinda figured he would have to die...because the author wouldn't just leave David hanging in the middle of nowhere...without anyone...XD

So I'm hanging out at a Borders earlier today, and I spot a book with the same sort of cover style that Scott's recent books usually have...and it's titled EXTRAS.
Well. I assumed it was some new book. But I never imagined it was the FOURTH book in the Uglies TRILOGY!!!!!
Yup. That's right. And he dedicates it to all the people who wrote to him and revealed the 'secret definition of the word trilogy.'

| Wheee Extras was so good! Just as interesting and mind-engaging as uglies, pretties and specials. He's really sarcastic (or...satirical? not sure what the correct phrasing is) about people today and their need to be popular...XD Anyway, FOURTH book in a TRIlogy, how much more kick can you get? - Spoiler:
He bashes stuff like blogging, Myspace, youtube...it's so excellent. Basically, it's a 'popularity society' with people who are more popular getting more benefits from the government while having to work less. You are popular as long as people talk about you...the more your name is mentioned, the more popular you are. Hilarious, really. He mentions how some desperate woman would even talk about herself and her cat for hours on end, just to boost her own face count...this is so obviously bashing on Youtube blogging. I love it.
And Tally was in it as well! Yay! Though she's very...special, a bit of a snob in fact. He doesn't delve too deeply into her character and problems this time though, because the book isn't really about her developing as a person, though by the end of the book it is implied that her character has improved.
Oh and he's substituted the word 'kick' for 'cool.' I love when authors do that, create a few choice slang words.

Okay so it was a good book, I liked the plot line of this first book and how Tally changed her feelings when she reached the smoke. I wish we could have seem more about the smoke but I loved that place. I also liked that it seemed so similar to our world like in the future. It could happen. I liked Peris and wish we had seem a lot more of him, I hope he gets them lesion things taken out of his brain and we have a love triangle going on between Tally, Peris and David.
