| I was watching a programme on plastic surgery used for only cosmetic reasons and I was wondering what everyone thinks?
personally I think it is stupid that people will pay out so much money to change one part of them that is perfectly healthy. I think it should be only for people who need it medically but thats just my opinion

| My views and I have 2 so here goes ~clears his throat~
First, if you are getting it to just enhance your bust or other parts to look better and attract guys then I am not really supportive of it. I wouldn't want to date a barbie doll. Maybe I am too blunt but I think women who do that are trying to get the wrong attention in the WRONG way! And for me as a guy, it's a huge turn off. Cuz if a girl is THAT worried about herself then she's obviously too self absorbed or simply too worried about how many guys' attention she can get.
Now if someone has been hurt, lost parts of their body, need to reduce their bust cuz it hurts their back or they are too heavy then sure, by all means I support it. If they need a nose job cuz they got half their nose ripped off in an accident, I support that. So if the cosmetic sugery physically helps- I am all for it.
Whether you guys agree or not, all I have to say is 'Those are my views and I am stickin to them' ~bows~

| I agree with Jesse, to an extent. I think that the people who have plastic surgery just for th sake of wanting bigger boobs or to get that size 0 figure with no real reason behind it are silly. But like Jesse said, those who have been disfigured in an accident, or who have lost a lot of weight and have excess skin, then I think it's a good thing. There's a sort of middle ground between those two though, when there are people who hate the way they look so much that it's making them depressed or hating themselves. In that case, then if plastic surgery can help them achieve better self-esteem and feel better about themselves, I'm all for it. I think some people take it to the extreme though, take Jordan, for example (click here - she looks like a Barbie doll, and it looks silly, IMO). Then there's that woman, Jocelyn Wildenstein, who's gone way, way too far (click here. Now she just looks scary. I read that she wanted to look like a cat...but she looks mutilated. How can anyone do that to themselves? So whilst I am not entirely against plastic surgery, I think that in some cases it can be beneficial - there are those, like 'The Bride of Wildenstein' who have taken it too far. EDIT: How could I make a post on plastic surgery without mentioning Micheal Jackson - now he's taken it too far! | |

Whether you guys agree or not, all I have to say is 'Those are my views and I am stickin to them' ~bows~ I agree on Jesse's points on this one. That's what I was going to write. haha I don't like the girls who go to get a nose job or a bigger bust or fuller lips. I think it's unnatural and you're hurting your body. I don't see why girls would want to do that to themselves. Being yourself is more appealing than anything Now I understand if you get into an accident or you get some kind of disease. Then yes Plastic Surgery is important. That would one of my choices if I ever got into some sort of predicament like that. But, it does cost money...so I would highly doubt it would be an option for me..lol I also supprot it if you're trying reduce your size. My mom, for example, she blames me Harry, Hannah and Helena for streching her stomach - we are quads. lol. So she hates her stomach and wants to try and get lypo suction. I think it'll help her self- esteem in alot of ways. So that's another thing I supprt

| You two make excellent points!
One more thing I'd like to add. When you get plastic surgery you also have to think of all those malpractice doctors out there. Ladies in general who are depressed, spill out hundreds of thousands of dollars to quacks who turn around and mess up the surgery and make them look worst than what they were. Also the silicom round things placed in the erm...bust area could break and spill silicom all through your bloodstreams.
There are so many lawsuits out there that you got to wonder just WHO Is working on your body. Cutting and junk- they are bound to make a mistake.
If you absolutely must get that sugery be sure to do a background check on those doctors and see if they are really who they say they are.
Sorry about getting a bit off topic- but pertaining to plastic/cosmetic sugery- I felt this was a valid point to address.

| I agree with Jesse, Eimi and Holly. SHOCKING!!!! Seriously, everyone's beautiful in their own special way and i don't think anyone should cut up their bodyparts just to change that... now, if there would be a surgery that would make people smarter, i would recommend that to maaaany many many, even to myself xD
And yes, Michael Jackson is a walking example of too many surgeries :D

| Oh my god.. I hate surgery and cosmetic surgery is not exception. *shudders* I also say it's ok for medical reasons - but things like implanting silicones or changing skin color (see Michael Jackson.. lol...) or heaven knows what... mehh... I think people should be accepted and loved for who they are.
You know, I recently saw an article in a women's magazine about silicone implants. Bleeeee. They are writing about it as a quite positive thing to do, showing one of the magazine's reporters preparing for the surgery, then during and after and she seems quite happy. My personal opinion is that it shouldn't be encouraged. But I suppose the positive impression the text gives can be turned into a rather negative one once looking at some of the pictures, because they're showig the actual operation and it's quite bloody and... argh! *shudders* Not nice.
Anyway, queenbee, why are you afraid of getting old? I mean, beauty really doesn't depnd on the age you have but on the age you feel inside and on your lifestyle. Just curious.

| I'm scared of getting old too, but it's not the fact of how i'm going to look like, it's more like the end of all fun and all that kind of stuff, and then i'll grow old alone in a cold appartment because no one loves me and i'm going to die aaaaaall by myself... *cringes* ...that, exactly, is my fear!! xD
Which is why i have some plans; i shall die before i get to that point. Me say around 30... :D

| *shock* Caree, that would mean you're already at the half of your life.... noo Careee, don't leave us so soon! Anyway, you're right about the alone in a cold appartemnt stuff, I wouldn't like that either. But I'm gonna have kids and they're gonna take care of me, right? And social welware systems are also hopefully improving.. mehhh, if you have money, you can die in the Bahamas, in a 5-star hotel even now... XD
and queenbee - the media is stupid! :D The whole stay-thin thing is just for the money, so why mess up my life in order to comply with some ideas only made to sell stuff? Nah, definitely not worth the effort... best strategy is to ignore them...

| Hm.... well, I'm not for big boob surgery or fat sucking for a smaller booty... or worse, fat implants for a bigger booty... *shudders* But if the person's self-esteem is low because of body image, and maybe surgery would help them, then sure, it's their decision! And I also think that we shouldn't make judgements about people that do get surgery.... I don't like judging | |

| I agree with everyone on how cosmetic surgery should only be used for those who really need it. Burn victims, people who have been in accidents, or those with a bust size that's causing other medical problems really need the surgery in order to improve their physical health and I think that it's great they have an option to go to. However, I think cosmetic surgery just to increase your size, change the color of your skin, ect. is not something you really need. Your friends and family love you just the way you are! | |

| I tend to stick with the people who agree that it should be only in cases of medical necessity. I just can't rationalize spending so much money on something like that for a reason other than really, really needing it.
And I mean, I'm not the happiest with my appearance and things like implants can seem sort of appealing as an idea but then I get back to the cost of it and the fact that my wife likes me for who I am and how I look and it's just not worth it.

| I get that and I mean, if Marie were to say that she likes or doesn't like something it's not really going to change my mind if I'm set on it.
I just happen to have like a traditional appearance (no piercings or tattoos) and personally don't think I could ever go through with it in the long run even if at some points I look at myself in the mirror and go "You know, I'd probably be more attractive if..."
Although I am tempted to get a belly button piercing. But again, even that seems like I'd be using money I believe could be put to better use elsewhere. So surgery is definitely waaaaay too much money for me to consider.

| That's super cool actually. It takes specific sorts of people, in my opinion, to look good with lots of body modifications. Like, I think they suit some people just so well and then others just not as much, but then isn't that the way with everything?
I'm also like super tight with money though, so I strategically pick things to spend money on. Since I've gotten married to a travel industry employee, it's been travel. I don't mind spending an extra couple thousand to go back to Disney World but anything else and it seems unthinkable lol.

| I don't have anything that I like spending money on either due to it being tight. But body mods and traveling are the 2 that I'm willing to spend money on, which sadly are both expensive things! And agreed they don't look good on everyone. I'm not covered up but by the time I am done with my planned tattoos I will have a full sleeve (have a half sleeve), my Dark Mark, a chest piece, and a back piece. It really just comes down to what you rather spend your money on! | |
