Invention of the Essence

This lesson is split into two parts, each with a separate set of house points up for grabs for all who complete the tasks.

Part 1
Invent a new potion. List the ingredients you are using and explain the process of brewing the potion. Remember to give it a name as drinkers need to know what they are drinking!

Part 2
Explain when, why and what this potion could be used for, remembering to include the effects on the drinker.

Alright inventing a potion - to explain a bit about the potion before I go into details. Originally this potion was created as prank to be used on James and Sirius in one of my fanfictions. So please realize - if you'd like to use it ask permission. So now that that is covered onto the actual potion.

Emotion Transversion Drops

You will require polypod seed, deadly nightshade and the hair of the victim you wish to use the potion on. Each victim will receive their own potion.

Now to change the emotion to the one you desire you will need to mix the polypod with the deadly nightshade until it goes puce then you add the hair. It should turn orange. Once it changes colors you will need to recite: Emotiotus Transvertus

if you want to create a lust emotion you then add the drops into a pipette then drop them into the victims eye as they sleep. They should see the person who has the other drops in their eyes in a whole new light. It lasts for 46 hrs.

If you want to drop it in the victim's food you can providing that you stir it 3 times anti clockwise or they can see it.

To make the potion last for an hour you need to stir it 1 circle each way then say: Transfix NeStix

That is the basic potion - this had a particular use in my story - what it is I won't tell you all yet. As you can see this potion will change the emotions of two people creating a 'lust' between them. This potion is used as a prank and could come in quite handy for the prankster. What exactly will happen to the drink? Well a number of things can happen - it also depends on what emotion you want to create. In this case it's lust - a deep lust for the other person. You can just imagine where it will lead.

The Fancy Dress Potion

Ingredients
A pinch of fairy Dust
One powdered unicorn horn
A petal from an Agave Parry (Century plant)
Wart of a hag (needs to have been pickled in Vinegar for three days before used in potion)
A Smurf hat.
A dress
A hair from a fancy pants Prince Charming
Hot Chocolate

Process of brewing

1. Boil two litres of water.
2. Add 8oz of Cadbury Options Hot Chocolate, stir once clockwise and simmer for two minutes
3. Sprinkle a pinch of fairy dust into the potion and stir four times, twice clockwise, twice anti-clockwise
4. Slice the Agave Parry petal into longitudinal strips, about 3mm wide and stir into the potion.
5. Add the wart of a Hag. Potion should now be grey in colour.
6. The Smurf hat should be added almost immediately after the wart.
7. Cut the dress up into 10x10cm squares, and add to the potion one at a time, stirring between each piece.
8. Add the final ingredient, the hair from a fancy pants Prince Charming. Firework type sparks should erupt form the cauldron, and it should be a hot-pink coloured liquid.

When, why and what the potion could be used for?

The fancy dress potion is ideal for anyone who is attending a fancy dress party. If you are stuck for ideas on what to wear, take this potion before you go, and you’ll have no problem with your costume.

Drink a cup full before you leave the house and your clothes will change into a fabulous fancy dress costume. If brewed correctly, your costume should change after every hour. It would keep the other guests amused for hours. There are thousands of different costumes for boys and girls, so don’t worry about wearing the same costume twice! The potion should last for about six hours and will simply wear off to leave you in your original clothes. (So remember to wear something before you take the potion)

Warning: If brewed incorrectly, expect costumes to be mixed up, costumes not to fade after six hours and itching.

What you need, is the official IWAND POTION.

Ingredients-
Your IWAND
3/4 Unicorn tail
1 ball (it MUST be frozen in the shape of a ball) of House Elf sweat (entertainment can be painful)
Three boxes of memory charm cubes
Red Cap wiring (available at all Wizarding hardware stores)

(these ingredients are enough for six songs or spells)

The result of this potion will be the ability to download spells and songs onto your IWAND without having to get onto itunes!


Directions-

1)Wrap the Unicorn tail strings around the Red Cap wires.
This will be the connection between your IWAND and actual wand

2) Melt the frozen elf sweat in floo powder and stir ing memory cubes

3) Freeze the sweat, powder, and cubes all together in one bowl.

4) attach your Red Cap/ Unicorn Tail wires to your IWAND

5) Tie the other ends of the wires around the frozen sweat/powder/cubes.

6) Position your own wand on top of the frozen mix and whisper slowly the song or spell you would like to transfer to your IWAND.

Ingrediants(I cant even spell ingrediants):
1 bottle of fire whiskey
2 teaspoons of vanilla
6 stems of bitter root
1 silky sock and
a muggle pill called Advil.

How To Brew:
1. Take your coauldren(sp?) out and place on fire after adding full bottle of firewhiskey.
2.wait for it to come to a boil then add the vanilla.
3. chop up the bitter root stems and drop in a chopped up stem every 4th turn.
4.throw the silky sock in.
5.add the adville and drink up.

Hangover no more stops your hangover completly. You can go out and enjoy your day. while all the losers who wernt smart enough to buy these instructions sit in there dorm rooms with a puke pan.

The Potion of Memorization~

Wouldn't it be great to be able to memorize all the things you read,every book? especially for classes? Well you can with the Potion of Memorization. However to brew this potion one must be willing to endure the side effects. Before I get to that though, let's start with how to make it :D

What you will need are the following ingredients:

These stones: Calcite,Carnelian,Jade,Lapis Lazuli, Rhodonite and Turquoise-they all help with the mind in some ways and balance out thought processes which is needed in order to obtain a large mass of information.
These following herbs also are needed:
Almond, Benzoin,Bodhi,Hazel, and Iris.

Also you need...
1 large cauldron
and 7 books that you want to memorize.(note: make sure they are copies and not the originals-because we will be putting these books into the cauldron.)

This spell must be done on the night of a Full Moon at exactly 9pm. (no exceptions)

Fill the cauldron half of the way with natural water from either a river or spring.(someplace natural-like the lake)

Now add the Almond,Bodhi,and Iris in exactly that order.
Stir 8 times counterclockwise.
Now add the Benzoin and Hazel.
Stir only 3 times.
The water should be turning a dark murky brown.
Okay now you should add the stones in this order:
Lapis Lazuli,Carnelian, Calcite, Turquiose and Rhodonite.
stir 7 times counterclockwise
then stir another 7 times only clockwise this time.
You should now have a rich red potion.
Okay now take the seven books-starting with your least favorite and start adding them into the cauldron one at the time!! One at the time! I stress this because if you put them all in at once, dangerous things can happen. I will explain those later.
Okay anyway the last book you add should be your most favorite of all.
Once all books have been added, stir clockwise 27 times.
If successful; your potion should be purplish pink color like this::





Now do not drink it until sunrise!! I can not stress this enough. If you do, you will be in for a very nasty shock.Your head will fall off.
No really it will. All of that knowledge absorbed all at once is dangerous and can lead to an overload.
So be sure to wait until sunrise and then you may drink it VERY SLOWLY!! I stress this as the side effects could be quite painful. It should take you at least a half hour to drink a 1 liter bottle of it. (And a 1 liter is all you need so you have to figure out what to do with the excess potion. Perhaps you could bottle it and sell it? *evil grin*)

The mild side effects for creating this potion incorrectly are as follows: Burning, itching, crying, sneezing, vomiting, brain misfunctions, singing loudly in the shower, addictions to toast may occur; along with obsessions with boxers and socks. Shrieking, Laughing, Cursing, and bellowing are also possible.

The more dangerous and deadly side effects are:
Memory loss-(i.e. Who is Harry Potter? *gasps*)
Severed limbs and ties with both your body and your friends.
Acromantula's coming out of your cauldron (eek!)
Voldemort possessing your body
Grawp appearing and sitting on you
Fluffy leaping through your mirror and devouring you.
The Giant Squid Falling in love with you
Spontaniously Combusting
and
Resurrecting the Basilisk in the pit of your stomach(*Gasps*)

So please use this potion wisely for your school studies.
It should not be used as a prank to pull on anyone!
Extreme Caution is advised.

The Fragrance potion

Ingredients: 5 black rose petals
2 Dandillion stems
2 Lavender stems
Method:
Put ingredients in slowly over 15 minutes stir clockwise in a cauldron.
Then stir anti clockwise untik a fragrant steam arises from cauldron.
The effects of this potion are mild they may begin to smell like dead flowers after a few days while it is wearing off.
But the main point of this potion is for girls to wear and have a lovely flowery smelling fragrance which lasts up to 3 days. Hefty expensive and disguting Ron bought perfumes no more!

Part 1
Invent a new potion. List the ingredients you are using and explain the process of brewing the potion. Remember to give it a name as drinkers need to know what they are drinking!

The Gluttonuss Glum Potion:
ingrediantsl;
skin of a gloombloom flower's petals (4oz.)
eyes of a Toad (eye must be collected from a toad who died with the new moon)(36oz.)
juice from the shredded bark of a maple tree ( 1/2 liter)
Instructions:
in a clean cauldron, heat the shredded bark juice untill boiling and let simmer for exactly 30 minutes, stirring 3/4 counter-clockwise every 5 minutes. It should turn from Pink to Purple.
When the 30 minutes are up, sprinkle (clockwise) the gloombloom skin It should instaintly trun from purple to teal. Leave for 5 minutes with out disturbing it.
Toad's eyes should be divided into 6 piles of 6 oz. Add one pile at a time after the 5 minutes every 2 minutes. Simmer on low heat for 7 and a half minutes and remove from heat. Potion should be a dark grey.

Part 2
Explain when, why and what this potion could be used for, remembering to include the effects on the drinker.
The Gluttoness Glum Potion is used to induce the drinker into a morbid state of depression for short periods of time. It is used as an antidote to an over-affective cheering charm. It is highly addictive though, for reasons unknown, so it is very dangerous to use, especially if it has been used before. DRINKER BE WARNED! The depression makes the drinker almost unbearable to be around due to their negative, self-hating, morbid thoughts.

ANIMABREW

My potion is called Animabrew.

Ingredients:

3 cups of murtlap essence.
1 phoenix feather.
8 strands of hair from a boggart that turns into any human.
Juice from 6 garden beetles.
2 sliced flobberworms.
10 Hippogriff talons
Bogeys from a Metamorphmagus.
5 drops of saliva from any animagus.
1 Dragon Tooth.

Preparation:

This potion is simple to make.

1. Boil the murtlap essence until it is steaming clouds of dark green vapour.
2. Chop boggart hair into miniscule particles and sprinkle boggart hair into the cauldron. Stir 8 times anti-clockwise after the particles of each strand of hair is added.
3. Wait until the mixture has turned a colourless thin liquid, almost like water, and turn off the heat.
4. Stir in the beetle juice with the phoenix feather, clockwise x3, then anticlockwise x4, in a cycle, until the mixture turns into a black tar like substance. When the feather splits, leave it in the substance and wait until it turns into small black cubes. Should take 3-6 minutes.
5. Mix the saliva and bogey into the cubes with a metal spoon until the mixture is an orangey brown colour and quickly tip in the flobberworms before it turns purple.
6. Heat again until a vapour is produced that is pale pink and has the smell of ginger.
7. Add five Hippogriff talons and then the dragon tooth and the last five talons.
8. Stir with the same metal spoon twice, anti-clockwise while thinking of an animal and then continue until a white gooey substance is produced, much like Muggle toothpaste, with the same minty smell.

Uses:

This potion is only to be used a maximum of 3 times every month, it will act as a laxative if used more regularly. It will change the drinker into whichever animal the drinker is thinking of while he/she was carrying out number 8. It is a substitute for the Animagus spell, but will wear off after 11 hours and 37minutes. Other side-effects include irritability after wearing off, craving for fried crab meat and maybe a blue rash on elbows if used often.

Part one!

Okay, first off, you will need the folloing ingredients:

3 drops of babies tears, preferrably caught when the child was terrorised.
2 black beetles
12 dandelion roots
and one pure black kittens tail.

Now, lets us begin. Please place your cauldrons over the fire and gently brew the water to the heat of 213 degrees, excellent, now furiously mash up the dandelion roots, making sure they look mutilated, wonderful. Add the roots to the water, now once again, smash the 2 black beetles repeatedly and drip the blood into the cauldron before mashing up the bodies and adding the those alos to the mixture. After ten minutes of continues stirring, clockwise of course, very gently open the bottle with the baby tears in and drop them into your mixture. Stir twice clockwise and seventeen times anti clock wise before allowing to simmer for forty minutes. After fourty minutes your potion will be ready to go.

Part Two

This potion is used by Death Eaters all over the world to give their victims nightmares for each day of their lives. After one year of repeated nightmares, the victim walks to the highest tower before throwing themselves off. Death Eaters enjoy this potion highly because they can not be blamed for a person commiting suicide. The effects on the victim are life threatening as this potion leads to death.

My potion is called the magiferous poition. If brewed and taken correctly, one dose will give a muggle magical powers for one day. THe ingridients needed to make this potion are:
1. three-fourths cup of hippogriff milk
2. half-cup of eye of newt
3. two table-spoons of dragon saliva
4. one tea-spoon of basilisk poison
5. one-fourth cup of ground phoenix feathers
6. three tea-spoons of troll sweat
7. six drops of unicorn tears
9. one third-cup of ground dwarf's beard and
10. one table-spoon of crushed house-elf toe-nails.
Pour these ingridients into a cauldron and stir together clockwise, then point at the brew with your wand and say "potionous magiferous!" If done correctly, the potion should be clear as water now. Pour the potion in a muggle's food or drink , then prepare for magic!
Side effects: 1 dose should not cause any effects at all, but too many doses can cause:
itching, burning, headaches, short-term memory loss, sweating, vomiting, sneezing, coughing, stomachaches, earaches, fever, swelling, rashes, muscle spasms, hair loss, and dizziness. Be careful!
