| No matter how cheesy the Eurovision is, I still watch it every year. The UK haven't won in a while, and I don't hold out much hope for this year either.
I think that a lot of the voting is political, which may explain why in recent years (since 2001 especially), the UK hasn't received many votes. Remember Jemini and the "nil points"?

| I read in a magazine a couple of years ago that people have "Eurovision Parties", where they invite friends, and each person is given a country, and for the duration of the party, they have to support that country.
They also have things like European food and drink.
Now, I like the Eurovision, but I don't think I'd ever go that far!
What does everyone think about "The Big Four" - that is the countries who are automatically entered despite their performances. They are the UK, France, Germany and Spain. Is this fair?

| mmmmh Eurovision parties sound yummy and fun! :D
as to those countries who enter automatically - well, I didn't even know that rule until now, but I don't think it's fair... why does this regulation even exist? :/ .... cut that. I've just read on wikipedia that they do it because these 4 countries contribute the most to the European Broadcasting Union, and the whole contest would be virtually impossible without them. So now I know it ...
and still... singing is an art and who gets accepted to the finals shouldn't depend on money :/ ... I mean, of course, I can understand why they want to avoid having such countries fail to get to the finals - because they would lose a great audience there. It's just... disappointing from the artistic point of view.

| I couldn't stand Georgia's entry!!!! ...Israel was just - well, weird and... lol :D
But yeah, I don't think it's fair that those four countries get through because of the money they're putting to the show. Sure, they can put some money there, but i think you should get through with talent and by people's choice. If i was one of those countries (lol xD) i would keep putting money to the whole thing but not buy myself a ticket to the final.
The Andorra boys were cute :D And Poland was... well, special :D It was okay, really ^^
BUT GEORGIA'S!!!!!!!!!! >__<

but oh well, at least the second place was kinda deserved - at least they were funny - no, funny is the wrong word, because they were hilarious! XD
and "Shake it up - Shekerim" (the Turkish song) was a million - oh cut that, a zillion times better than the Serbian girl and the Russian girls put together! XD
ahh and Lordi at the opening rocked! :D

How can you possibly have liked Ukraine??! That was social suicide! .... Well. France and the UK didn't do much better... "Flying the Flag"... pssh. Yeah right.
Is it just me or did no one else like the Romanian, Latvian, Hungarian and German entries? The German one especially. That was... it was REALLY good.

| mmm I don't remember the Latvian one but... the Hungarian girl roooocked - such a beautiful voice and song, she really deserved more!
Oooh you liked the Romanian one? *huggles* then me wuvs you! *g* - I kinda liked it. Well, not to the poont of loving it, but - as I said somewhere earlier, not sure if in this thread - they were, in my humble opinion, way better than the Romanian guy from last year.. who got 4th place. U_U" .. and I voted for them cuz I thought, if they win, I will go home to Bucharest just a bit more often .. like.. to watch the Eurovision show XD ... buut they got 13th place so next year's Romanian singers will have the chance of even falling through the semifinals .. niiiiice. -_-"
And the German one.. mhm, it was ok, but it wasn't any big revelation, at least for me.
And the Ukranian .. well *g* ... the song was pretty stupid, I have to admit that, but at least the show they put on was funny .. and they were at least more interesting to watch than the Serbian girl and the Russian girls... <.<"

(watching them on TV, duh xD)
I just know that Romania's one is kind of unexciting... I've heard it a few times on the Romanian international TV channel and got really annoyed by the fact that they keep telling me to "vote for Romania from whatever country I'm in" .... dudes, get real! I won't vote for some rubbish just because of the country, I will vote for whatever artist performs best and no million TV spots can convince me to do the opposite! ... hmph. >.<
Oh well. Let's hope the show is gonna be fun! :D

| http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azerbaijan :D ok, so this is it: the singing is over, now we're waiting for the results..... My personal overall opinion: not many songs I liked, most were either too weird or too over-dramatic or ... just not my style. I must correct what I said before and admit that Romania's song wasn't even half that bad, but not deserving one of the first places. But yeah, compared to ... uhm, Poland's song, ... yeah, compared to that, it seemed brilliant (no offense but that woman was just lame, in my humble opinion o.O"). Some cool ones, in my opinion, were: Finland - ROOOOCK! -, Turkey - a bit of rock again, yay :D -, Georgia - great voice and awesome song -, annnnnd .... the special prize for craziness goes tooooo..... Spain! XD XD XD OHHH and the pirates, of course! *giggles* (that was Latvia, btw :D) Portugal - hm, nice voices and nice song but ... yeah, me and ballads, long story. xD .... but hey, it's difficult to be in the mood for ballads when you have my dad next to you poking fun at every second song XD (btw, my dad's poking-fun-at-songs-and-singers-show is worth more than the whole Eurovision ) Well. Not voting anyhow. xD edit: Oh! I just remembered! Russia's song! :D - well, not the song itself, that wasn't so special - but did you see who was ice-skating around the singer, huuuuh? :D Evgeny Plushenko! SQUEEEE! ^.^ | |

| Okay my opinions I really liked Isreals I think they should have gotten way more points than that. Latvia and the pirates too deserved more. It was so eurovision and I loved the song.
Greece wasent half bad a very addictive song, as was Armenias. Apart from that they got on my nerves a lot. Especially Azerbijan eurgh the screaming angels no thaks. And I can't remember which country I think it might have been Bosnia the one with the stupid big hair running around a clothing line. Yeah that one just got on my nerves.
Anyways can't beileve Russia won. I didn't think they were that good, I couldn't even remember what Russias act was until they showed it again and then I didn't like it.
