| I've been wondering about this for a while now, and when I finally saw Al Gore's movie about global warming, I noticed that my thoughts weren't 'just' thoughts, but that they made actually sense - for once! :D ...not that I'm happy or proud of it... OKAY, just a little :D But anyway, link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_WarmingWhat thoughts does this wake in you? What could we do to stop this? | |

| what a coincidence! we just began watching the movie today in geography! and we're gonna finish it tomorrow, I hope!
anyway... my opinion on this topic... on the one hand, global warming and the environment in general has gotten to be such an adored subject at school - geography, english, french, you name it - that it's getting boring...
but then again, that was just the unresponsible side in me talking. The thing is, it's really so talked about - find that one magazine (well not Bravo XD) or newspapaper that didn't have a headline connected to environment/global warming in the last 4 months or so - because it's a subject we've been avoiding for too long. And now it's coming right back. It's enough to look out the window to realise something's wrong. For example in Warsaw: we had spring weather in March, the trees blossomed and all, and then it snowed in April. Madness! Though I think there are problems connected to this that are even worse than that - like flooded countries, for example. And what's creeping me out even more is what I found out from my teacher today - something about a new ice age being brought on be global warming. Had something to do with rays being reflected by snow from arctic blocks of ice swimming around everywhere... mmm I think it's going to be explained in the movie?
well, I can't wait to see the rest of the movie! and discussing the whole topic with our teacher... now, sitting here and just thinking about it for a moment makes it creepy and not boring at all ...
mmm and as to what we can all do... ride our bikes? mmm there's this whole list of advice ... well, we can contribute a bit, but a big part of it is due to the whole industry... :/ ... and I don't remember where I read this, but they said somewhere that we should stop every kind of CO2 release into the atmosphere immediately - not just step-by-step - so that we can still save our planet.
hmmm... | |

| I'm even ready to - rather grudgingly of course - to give up my bike and walk to school/work/anywhere, but i don't think that's enough. I mean, I'm just one person in the world!
And Cris my darling, you're right about the weather thing; we didn't have snow until the very end of December, while we have always had amazingly amounts of snow before! It was just lame! It snowed on some days, but it was gone the next. Not until mid January the real snows came... so all in all, the winter sucked :D

| The weather's been really weird here too - really really hot in April, when it's usually damp and drab, and now we're into May and we've got the nasty wet weather, when it's usually starting to brighten up.
They've also been saying on the news that we'regoing to have a scorcher of a summer, so...
At my work, they've put these sticky labels by all the light switches saying "We use enough electricity in our stores to power 11,000 houses for an entire year."
Yet they leave lights on, the tills on standby, and the heat/air con on overnight every day of the week. Where's the sense in that?
I do think there's something that needs to change - problem is we live in a consumer society, where we 'need' all those things that come in plastic packaging, and the super fast new car.
There are things that the government's can do, like finding renewable energy sources, but even then people complain that the windmills are an "eyesore". It's a problem that I don't think we're going to be able to resolve in the near future.

| Yeah, we had very warm weather in April too... almost like summer! But now, it rains a lot, it's cold, and very rarely warm as it should be in May. It's upsetting this northern owl | |

| I try and do my bit:
I always turn the lights off
Set the computer to shut down if left off for more than 2 minutes.
In the summer, when i have a shower, i put the plug in and at the end i collect all the water up and water the plants.

| I do believe in global warming, but i also think its a natural progression. Before we were even here the earth went through points where it was really hot, and we had ice ages. So i think whether we were here or not it would happen, were just speeding it along, with all of the pollution. I try to do my part, i have energy saving bulbs, and try to buy products that have that green symbol on it. | |
