In this lesson you will be asked to take four creatures from the HP magical world and compare them to their counterparts in our world. Please list how the magical world feels about these creatures, i.e. Some feel that a werewolf is dangerous, that is the same in our world. However the contrast of a werewolf in our world would be a plain wolf. Be descriptive about the magical creatures and their real life counterparts. The better the decription and the more work you put into it will earn you more points.

Compare and Contrast

Creature one : Name: ACROMANTULA
Description:
8 eyed spider capable of human speech.
M.O.M Classification: XXXXX

In the muggle world the Acromantula would be though of as a tarantula though this type of spider cannot talk it is greatly feared by many. It is also no where near as large as the Acromantula.

Creature two: Name: FLOBBERWORM
Description: Lives in damp moistly ditches. It's a large worm that can grow up to ten inches. It prefers lettuce out of all the vegetation it eats.
M.O.M Classification: X

The flobberworm would be equal in the muggle world to just an average worm.

Creature three: Name: KNEAZLE
Description:
Exported world-wide. It looks like a cat and has spotted fur, large ears and a tail like a Lion. It is an independent, intelligent creature, capable of aggression which it shows occasionally. Great pet, if it likes you! It can be relied upon to guide its owner home if they should get lost. A kneazle requires a license for legal ownership.
M.O.M Classification: XXX

The kneazle is really just like a very bad behaved cat as it looks like one and behaves like one

Creature four: Name: RUNESPOOR
Description:
It originated in a small African country. It reaches up to a length of six to seven feet. It is orange with black stripes and is very easy to spot, so forests have been designated for the sole use of Runespoor's. It is a serpent-like creature with 3 heads instead of one.
M.O.M Classification: XXXX

I would say this animal shares some charactoritcs with a zebra with that stripes the country it lives in.

(Please note Proffesor Hagrid is not the teacher of my care of magical creature class)

As I walked down to my care of magical creatures class i wondered what Proffesor Wattle had in store for us this lesson he always brought exciting creatures to class and personally i was thoughrally excited to see what he had in store.
Upon reaching the class i saw a large orange and black creature with three heads i began to feel evan more excited.
"Hello class today we are going to be learning about Runespoor" Proffesor Wattle said inticating to the creature behind him.
I let out a slow understanding sigh.
"Ah and as we can see Miss Swindail knows about it do you miss?"
"Um Yes sir well at least i think i do the ministry has classed them with 4 Xs making it quite a dangerouse creature if im right it orginated in Africa and it reaches up to about 7 feet. It is very easy to spot and has three heads instead of one." I said a little nervously reaching for my care of magical creatures book to cheack.
"Correct five points to Ravenclaw but why the minesty classed this beast with four Xs i will never know. Now would you all get your sketch books out and draw me a sketch of the Runespoor please. And on the back of your parchment please write at least a paragraph on why it must have been difficult for me to get the Runespoor here for your lesson. The work is to be handed in at the end."
When Proffesor Wattle had finished speaking i got my stuff out and began to draw it was most important that i got th drawing correct becuase my OWLS would be coming up soon and i would be calling upon these drawings for revision. At the ended of the lesson i handed my parchment and set of for Herbology.

It was now time for another care of magical creatures and i was most excited last lesson had been so fun! This was to be the last lesson before my OWLS surly Proffesor Wattle would have brought the most intresting creature yet. But to my disapointment when i reached the area where we would be learning i saw that there was a large box full of flobberworms.
"Not to look so fed up Miss Swindail it is very important that we learn about the flobberworms. Ah now everyone is here right now as i was just saying to Miss Swindail here it is very important that we learn about the flobberworms and i understand that they are not very intresting which is why i left the to last becauase if i had done these first then it would be almost certain that each of you would have forgotten what they are all about. So if you would collect a flobberworm a peice of lettuce and some parchment and please draw your flobberworm on the back of your parchment i have written all the necassary things about a flobberworm you have 30 minutes to do this task."
After 30 minutes of drawing the flobberworm Proffesor Wattle called us to a halt.
"Now throughout the year you have seen many different creatures and done many differnet drawrings and essays on them now would you please come and collect all your drawings and essays from this box here and then you may go in altogether you will need 50 different peices of parchment to take back to the castle."
After i had retrived my parchment i headed up to the castle to revise.

A kneazle is a creature that rather looks like a cat. It can sense unpleasant or suspicious persons and when it does, it reacts very badly to the suspicious person. However, it makes a very brilliant pet when it likes a witch or a wizard.

The kneazle is similar to a cat, although its senses are similar to that of the dog, although a cat’s senses are just as strong. Cats make also very adorable pets.

A basilisk is a reptile supposed to be the king of serpents. According to legend (and also in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), a basilisk has the ability to kill a person by a single glance.

In the Muggle world, there is also a basilisk, although it is only a small snake. However, it leaves a wide trail of fatal venom as it passes by, and its gaze is also fatal.

There is also a lizard named the Green Basilisk, also called the “Jesus lizard” because it can run across water.

A remora is a silver-colored fish from the Indian Ocean believed to guard seafarers and anchor ships.

There is a similar remora in the Muggle world. It is a long, brown fish, has a sucker and appears to be swimming upside-down.

An Augurey is called the Irish Phoenix that resembles a vulture. It hides its nest in brambles and thorns in the forest, flies only in heavy rain. Its feathers also repel ink. Its cry was once known to be an omen of death, but now it is believed to foretell rain.

Vultures has the same appearance as the Augureys. But they are known to be scavening birds, and they only eat carcasses of dead animals.

Blast-Ended Skrewt
Compare and Contrast Skrewt

This creature is a crossbreed of a manticore and a fire crab. They can be described as pale and slimy animals, looking more or less like an shell-less lobster. They measure about 6 inches and have a rotting smell. Once they are 2 months old, they develop a thick, shiney armour. And they begin growing aggressive tendencies which one can be killing one another. In the muggle world, it wouldn't be a creature people would have a great fear over but they would find it rather exotic. Of course they would feel a little scared for it's rare appearance and how they emit a strong sprak from one of their ends. But apart from that I think it would be a rare and exotic creature.

Bowtruckle
Compare and Contrast Bowtruckle

These creatures are small, wooden tree guardians. They are only 8 inches tall. Their only habitat is trees which are used for the maing of wands. You can find them in West England, South Germany and forests in Scandinavia. They eat fairy eggs and woodlice. They are not aggresive but shy and peaceful. But they won't doubt in attacking you if they feel their tree is threatened by you. They have long, sharp fingers which they use for attack. With those fingers they are capable of taking your eyes out. But if you are a wand maker looking for more wood to make wands, offer them some woodlice and they sure will let you cut some wood. In the muggle world these creatures I think would be a little amusing. Their appearance is kinda funny so I think it would make them nice. They are peaceful and not agressive so I think people wouldn't be frightened unless they got attacked. They would be good to guard forests and protect the trees which give us oxygen. And who knows? they could even be good friends too.

Bundimun
Compare and Contrast Bundimun-rs

This is a walking fungal creature which rots the foundations of houses. It looks like green fungus with eyes. They have many spindly legs to scuttle away. They are found world-wide. They eat dirt and decay but their diluted secretions can be used in the manufacture of cleaning fluid. They can combated with a Scouring Charm. In the mugle world they woulb be very annoying. For they stay in your house and got rotting all parts of it so it would be hard to keep your house clean. It would be really annoying to have one of those in your house.

Clabbert
Compare and Contrast Clabbert-v

This creature is an amphibian, horned, and monkey-like. You can find them in Southern United States. They live in trees. They eat lizards and birds. You can describe them as hairless, webbed hands and feet, smooth and mottled green skin, and long limbs which help them climb and swing. It has a pustule in the middle of his forehead that glows red and flashes when he feels threatened or dangered. In the muggle world I think they would make good pets. Although they are responsible for the puzzlement of Muggles when a Muggle sees a tree full of glowing pustules, they often mistake it for their neighbours having their Christmas lights on in June. But I think they would be funny creatures, and you could easily compare them to a monkey which some people find really amusing.

Bonus:
Story One: I was in the common room chatting with my friends about the things that happened throughout the day and we all agreed Care of Magical Creatures had been the best class we had that day. Hagrid introduced us to Clabberts which were creatures that looked like monkeys except they were all green. We had all had so much fun with them. They were smeel and we could hold them, they were pretty friendly and playful but in danger they obviously weren't nice. My friend Margie said she actually got to play with four of them. Marisa said she felt scared of them at first since she has never been fond of magical creatures but she spotted one which was too cute. Rachel didn't get to play with any since she is alergic to amphibians like them. As for me, I got to play with one which was very cute and cuddly. I think that was definitely a great class.

Story Two: As we were going of to Professor Trelawney's class we heard the second years who had been coming out that it smelled awfully inside and that the classroom was real filthy. When we entered, I felt this horrible smell and I'm sure my classmates did too for all of them covered their noses and made hideous sounds. Professor Trelawney told us she had no idea what made her classroom so dirty in one day, but she needed help finding out. So we all helped and thought till Hermione said there was a creature that could do that. She described and told us it was named Bundimun. Immediately everyone in the classroom searched for it. Suddenly Neville found were all of them had been, since we found out it had been various creatures not just one. We all started conjuring the Scouring Charm to get rid of them. At the end of the class she gave each house 10 points for we had all helped her. And I'm sure the next ones inside the classroom would be terribly glad also.

creature one

CHIMAERA: MoM classification: XXXXX : this is rare greek monstor with a lions head and a goats body and a dragons tail. The chimaera is a vicious, bloodthirsty beast and is extremly dangerous. There has only ever been one known slaying of this beast and the unlucky wizard involved fell from his winged horse shortly after the slaying, exhausted by the effort involved in slaying the Chimaera. Chimaera eggs are classified as a grade a non-tradeable item.

refference in the muggle world: well the tail brings to mind a commodo dragon, the body obviously a goat and the head as we can planely see is a lion.

creature two

Basilisk: MoM classification:XXXXX: the first recorded basilisk was bred by herpo the foul. he was a greek dark wizard and he was a parselmouth. he discovered that a chickens egg hatched beneath a toad produced a gigantic serpent endowed with extraordinary dangerous powers.
the basilisk is a brilliant green serpant that can reach lengths of fifty feet long.the male has a scarlet plume on its head and both male and female have extremly dangerous fangs but the most dangerous means of attack the basilisk has is the gaze of its yellow eyes. anyone that looks directly into the basilisks eyes will suffer instant death
the basilisk will eat mammals reptiles and small birds, the basilisk is beleived to live for hundreds of years. herpo the fouls basilisk is beleived to have lived to the age of 900 years old. basilisks are uncontrollable unless you can speak parselmouth.

refference to the muggle world: i guess the python is a good reference its a very large snake though it wont kill you to look at it

creature three

crup: MoM classification XXX : the crip originated in the southeast of england, it closely resembles a jack russell except for its forked tailthe crup is almost certainly a wizard created dog it is intensly loyal to wizards but extremly vicious to muggles. the crup is a scavanger eating anything from old tyres to gnomes. crup lisences can be obtained from the department for the regulation and control of magical creatures. although their tales must be removed with a painless severing charm between the ages of six and eight weeks. lest muggles notice them.

refference to the muggle world: the crup is almost the same as a jack russell terrier

creature four

demiguise: MoM classification XXXX: This beast is found in the far east though only with great difficulty as it can make itself invisable it feels threatened and can only be seen by wizards skilled in its capture.it is a powerful herbivorous beast somethinf like a graceful ape with large black eyes more often than not hidden by its hair. its whole body is covered in long fine silky silvery hair which can be spun into invisability cloaks

refference to the muggle world : an ape

Part1
Acromantula
XXXXX

gigantic spider with a poisonous bite that is cabable of of human speech. Example: Aragog. Many people are scared of this creature, that's why there is a ban on it for breeding. In the Muggle world, the most feared/venomous spider would be a black widow. But for the black widow, it is way smaller

Boggart

a shape shifter that takes the form of the thing most feared by the person who it encounters. Many people dislike/are scared of boggarts because it makes them see their fear but a simple. Riddikulus spell can change it into something funny. Example: Neville's Boggart was Snape, with the spell, he made the boggart wear a dress. In the Muggle wrold, boggarts are like the 'monsters under the bed' in a child's closet/bed

Diricawl

a plump tall bird that looks like a giant turkey. It can turn invisible with a burst of feathers
Muggles know them as dodo and think they are extinct due to their invisibility. Wizards encourage Muggle thinking the birds are extinct to protect and hide the magically world.

Hellhound

A gigantic three headed dog. Example: Fluffy. Muggles think they are part of Greek mythology guards the gates of Hades. But both wizards and muggles know that they can be tamed by singing or music

Part2
Ron's POV

Dear Journal,

Today at DADA, Professor Lupin taught us how to do a spell against a Boggart. My boggart was a spider. I hate spiders. They are so creepy and always crawl around. When I did the Riddikulus Spell it suddenly turned into a ball instead of the hairy digusting creature. After that encounter against the spider, even though it wasn't really real, I feel like Fluffy is a much better animal. Remember Fluffy? He was that three headed dog on the trap door in first year. Personally I think both of them are imitating but Fluffy is less creepy. Anyways, spiders are like everywhere and Fluffy is safely away in the forest.

-Ron
