Family Fortunes: News Updates

Family Fortunes Event will be commensing this coming week, so there is still a little time to set up a group if you haven't already. Only full groups of 5 exactly will be able to compete.

How will it work?

There are numerous stages, all different in ways of
completion. Each stage will be set with a list of instructions of what is
involved in the stage. As with all big events, there are loads of housepoints
to be gained, each stage giving different amounts. Within each group, the
housepoints will be given individually as well as per group. Group standings at
the very end will also gain extra housepoints, ie:

1st place: Extra 5000 split between all 5 members
2nd place: Extra 4000 split between all 5 members
3rd place: Extra 3000 split between all 5 members

Upcoming Round Details

The dates and more information (as well as possible added rounds) will be posted as each round begins.

The rounds look a little like the following;

Head to Head

Groups go head to head, 1 on 1 with each other group. Each
group will be given a set of questions and each member of the group can submit
1 answer each to try to obtain all the top answers along with housepoints. If
the playing group fails to guess all of the answers then the question will be
passed to the opposing group. The opposing group then has a chance to steal.

To steal, the opposing group must confer with one another
and elect 1 member to give their answer. They can only have 1 guess at the
remaining answers (no matter how many are still left). If they obtain 1
remaining answer, then they steal all the housepoints uncovered. If not, the
playing team will keep the points they uncovered.

Possible: Can gamble: Opposing team can either do as said
above, or gamble and take the remaining questions points only without having to
guess. The playing team will still keep their uncovered points in this decider.

Live Fortune

This will happen five times. Each time 1 member is nominated
to play. Each 5 members will have a chance. Each member can play only once,
unless for a good reason.

Live fortune will be played in the chat box or chat room.
Questions will be given (amount of rounds to be decided). Each member takes it
in turns to call out a quick fire answer, scoring points gained if correct
answer is given. This continues on a time limit or until all answers have been given,
or if no members are left. If a member gives 1 incorrect answer, they sit out
of the rest of that round until the next round starts.

Playoff Round

A simple round where groups do not compete against other
groups. Each group is given 5 rounds, one after the other. They have a time
limit to find all correct answers (or as many as they can). Scores will be
added up after each round.

Elimination Round

This occurs near the end of the tournament and as often as
needed until the end (spread out among other stages). Two members are elected
from each group. A question will be given. Member #1 pm’s Elfie their answers.
Their score is updated on the thread. Member #2 then gives their answers in the
thread. If they duplicate an answer, they may be given another try.

Scores for all groups from this round are then put on the
table and the lowest scoring group will be eliminated.

Double Trouble

More answers and double the points. Will prop up randomly.

Stupid answer round

The silliest, yet most applicable answers are given and
whoever has the most creative will receive the points. A possible vote round.
