| Page 1 APPARITION HISTORY… Everything you need to know about the history of this amazing mode of transport! Page 2 Timeline: - 962. First time brooms were used as transport in the west. - 983. First time carpets were used as transport in the east. - 1029. Gowtrump Graggleboph first found out that phoenixes could travel instantly. - 1053. Jaggor Graggleboph is the first person to travel instantly as opposed to using carpets or brooms on the tail of a phoenix. - 1066. Several wizards use phoenixes to travel to the Battle of Hastings to try and help out in the battle. - 1386. The Ministry of Magic outlaws using phoenixes as a method of travel because of cruelty to these intelligent creatures. - 1556. Iymagee Nyus accidently apparates to St Mungo’s after falling off a cliff by concentrating hard on her destination. - 1559. Fuliesch Eejit splinches himself while trying to copy his cousin in her apparition three years ago. - 1560. Dangers of apparition are assessed and the Ministry offers training for witches and wizards over the age of 17 to learn to apparate. Page 3 It is important to know that Apparition has not existed forever. The earliest form of Apparition is obviously done by a phoenix. Phoenixes travel instantly from one place to another in a bright flash of light. They can also carry messages like that and it was important that we learnt as much as we could from these amazing creatures. Unfortunately, there is no witch or wizard who has yet been able to talk to phoenixes since The Great Merlin himself. It is also important that we learn from the mistakes of those who have experimented with apparition in the past. We have looked at the diaries of both Iymagee Nyus and Fuliesch Eejit to bring to you the best rules, instructions and advisory notes on apparition. Page 4 Apparition is a serious subject that should never be taken lightly. As you can see, it has not been around for as long as flying, therefore, we must continue experimenting and teaching you our best. This leaflet is for education and Ministry of Magic Apparition Liscencing purposes only. Remember: “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” | |

| Apparition Over the YearsBrochure and (c) by Pillowloverchick2006 The History of Apparition A Time Line of Apparition 1966- Anna Maltianier, a hippogriff trainer, is late for a hippogriff show, and in her frustration to find the bowl of floo powder, concentrates on being determined to get to the contest and apparates by mistake. 1976- The Minister for Magic, Christoph Maranta, signs papers allowing a team of MoM officials to investigate apparition and look into it for use by the common people. This investigation is titled the ASLI- Apparition Safety and Law Investigation. 1986- After a terrible flooing accident that killed over 720 muggles in Greenland, the ASLI presents their findings to the Minister for Magic. In 1987, Minister Quincy Loverton approves the apparition plan for the common people. Apparition is now legal around the world. 1996- Researchers begin teaching witches and wizards across the world how to apparite correctly and safely. The apparition legal age is set at the age of 17. Apparition begins to flourish around the world. 2006- Apparition is one of the most popular forms of transportation in the entire wizarding world! The Switch to ApparitionApparition was new to witches and wizards. The thought of being able to travel in seconds without getting covered in soot was amazing. The year of 1996 was a year of change. It was called the Year of Difference. All around the world, local wizarding community centers held apparition classes for the common people. Many people had trouble learning how to apparate. The MoM had to learn how to take care of splinching problems and such. Apparition changed lives. Not only did it help open up a whole new door of transportation, but it opened our eyes to see the way we can learn. It taught us to always be looking, always be wanting, to find out new ways to make life easier and improve the quality of life. Controlling Apparition1996 was when the battle against improper use of apparition began. Young teens who wanted to apparate got into trouble with the law, and splinching. The Ministry of Magic was overflowing with the need to control underage apparition. Common witches and wizards were also unaware of the dangers of apparition. They lazily apparited, not following the rules or worrying about danger. So rules were set out, and guidelines were made to be followed. This helped control the world’s apparition better. Apparition keeps the world moving. It’s used everywhere, by everyone. It unites us. Apparition. It’s What You Do From--Verb. It’s what you do. By Gatorade | |

| So You Want To Learn How to Apparate? Better get cracking on the history... Want to get from A to B? Read "The Dummie's Guide to Apparition History" and you'll pass your theory test first time!* *Paradise Publishing Corporation does not accept responsibility for those who do not pass their tests having followed our historical notes. An Introduction to Apparition... Apparition is the term used for the process of transporting oneself from any given point to another instantaneously. The process is, in itself, easy, yet to pass the test it is necessary to have the right frame of mind, and to know the history of apparition for the theory test. This leaflet aims to answer all your questions on the history of apparition, and will help you pass your apparition test like a pro. The Timeline Apparition has a long and complex history. Here, we've condensed it down to one page for your easy reference and enjoyment. Circa500AD - Merlin demonstrates the beginnings of apparition. 900AD - Flying broomsticks invented and brought into use 1450AD - Apparition begins to reach wider audiences. Controls are brought in to prevent splinching 1800AD - The MoM decided it would be a good idea to have an apparition test. 1875AD - The biggest overhaul to the system since it began. The previously basic tests were revamped to the ones we know today. 2006AD - This leaflet was produced to help with the learning process. The Man Behind the Magic Merlin may have been the one to first start using apparition, but it was this man, Melvyn Lindor who brought apparition to the mainstream. He was the man who made it possible for everyone to have the ability to apparate safely, without the fear of being splinched. It was in 1792 that Lindor first brought the idea of an apparition test to the Wizengamot, where they refused his request. But he continued with his plight for eight long years – in which time there were two hundred apparition related deaths occurring every year. He fought for the rights of the wizarding community – that they should be given the chance to learn how to apparate properly, and in 1800 he prevailed. The Wizengamot passed a law that every witch and wizard over the age of seventeen must have a licence if they wished to apparate. And thus began the history of apparition testing in England’s magical community. | |

| In The Beginning
It is believed by many that a muggle scientist developed the first ideas of Apparition.
This is not true!
In actual fact the wizard who went by the name of Sir Winces A lot discovered the form of transportation quite by accident. Whilst out walking his dog, he accidentally let go of the lead causing the dog to run into the road straight into the path of an oncoming early form of knight bus. He shouted at the dog but before the bus hit him, the dog vanished into thin air and seconds later reappeared, holding his leash in his mouth, by the side of him. The experiments which Sir Winces A Lot did on the dog lasted years until he finally worked out the secret of apparition.
Specific Dates of Apparition History
1604: Marked the turning of events. Apparition became completely legal! 1673: Poor Mother Hubbard vanished without a trace. The first apparition disaster! 1701: Apparition became the most popular form of transportation 1759: Apparition banned from magical games and sports after Portugal Quidditch team scored 1000 goals one after the other when using apparition. 1812: Biggest bank robbery: Wizards used apparition to steal 1 million muggle notes from a bank in London. They were never found, yet a leg and three fingers were at the scene! 1892: Apparition became illegal in the North Pole after Santa K Lause apparated into a chimney and got stuck. 1943: The first pet apparition school opened in Canada Present day: Severus Snape aka Mick takes his apparition tests!
How to pass your tests first time
1. Remember, you have two legs and two arms, also don’t forget your head, this is not the best time for it! 2. Watch out for those muggles – they might get the molice pen onto you! 3. Concentrate on your apparition spot – you wouldn’t want to miss last orders at the pub! 4. Don’t try apparating into a chimney, especially if you are a purple hippo! 5. And finally good luck! Well you wouldn’t want bad luck now would you?

1939: Apparating age raised to the age of 17
Page 2: Rules of Apparition
Apparating is NOT an art to be trifled with. It is a serious subject and has seen several casualties throughout the years. The main thing to remember is the 3 D’s;
Determination, Destination and Deliberation
Facts of Apparation
1. Since 1939 there have been 298321 splinch casualties, the worst was when Gladys Arcondale splinched her own head which fell straight into the mouth of a crow. 2. Between 1860 – 1900 there were over 100 deaths, (though these were mainly animals being experimenting on) due to young apparition 3. Since 1939, there have been only 9 deaths through apparating.

| APPARITION! The Ultimate transportation!
Page 1
TIMELINE
1780 a.c - First time someone considers the option of vanishing from one place and appear in another 1866 - Joan Frankest discovers the way to do that 1871 - the ministery agrees with testing that form of trasportation 1872 - Doria Estander actually succeds in apparating 1874 - Harry Hothlit sugests the name Apparition 1892 - The ministery agrees with using Apparition in normal day actions 1898 - Kiran Dorkist, age 11, dies because of a very bad splinch and the ministery decides to only allow people over 17 years old to apparate
Page 2
All things are dangerous, but Apparition is one of the most dangerous ways of transportation there is. The risc of splinching, when not focused enough, is very high. to ensurance safety, everyone must take apparition classes and take the tests, so nothing can go wrong. The three steps must be very carefully applied.
Determination, Destination and Deliberation
1. You have to be completely focused on the place you want to apparate to. 2. You'll have to make sure you don't leave any members "behind" 3. STAY FOCUSED!

1589- One hundard years later Ranfus Apperate (pronounced Apper Ate) finds an journal of an old witch discovering this spell and taking it to the Ministry of Magic
1619- Many years later the Ministry decides that this spell could help out many wizards so they decide to tell the public about it. Many days later there have been more then two thousand reports of wizards body parts appearing all over town
1622- Ministry decided to have wizards go through a test before they are given an apperation certificate.
Page 3 Brroms or Apperateing
So your wondering wather or not you should apperate or just fly a broom. Just remember this: Over the blue, stick to the blue, Over the dirt, Apparate girt. What a girt is many dont know but this saying was used back then. Blue in the first line is the sea and in the second line blue is the sky. Dirt in the third line is the ground and like i said before no one really knows what a girt is.
Back Passing your test
The main thing to do is to focus. If you can focus just take your time until your 100 percent sure that your are ready. As you Apperate just focus on your destinationand nothing else. If you remeber this you will do just fine

Apparition: A History
Inside
Apparition: How It Came To Be For many years apparition has been a common form of travel for adults in the Wizarding community. Before apparition witches and wizards used brooms, flying carpets, a number of magical creatures and the Floo Network to travel from point A to point B. These, with the exception of flying carpets, are still used today. The first person to document apparition was Geraldine Forester of the Ministry of Magic's Accidental Magic Reversal Squad in 1803. The first time she apparited was an accident as she was on the way to fix a whistling pen bought by Muggles at a Wizarding garage sale, but once she realized what she had done she worked to perfect the new mode of transportation until it was approved by the Ministry for use by the public. Since then, there have been laws regarding apparition along with specific tests and training young wizards need to go through in order to receive their apparition licenses.
