What are your first thoughts on finishing the book?

Mine are that I absolutely loved it! I think it was a fabulous ending to the series, everything came together and everything we've seen dribbed and drabbed across the other books makes sense.

There were some parts I wasn't so keen on...the whole Snape/Lily relationship before Hogwarts, and Harry's child having the middle name Severus, and of course..some of the deaths sad

But my first impressions on finishing reading, literally ten minutes ago, is that I loved, loved, loved it and it has been well worth the wait! I badly want to re-read now!

I just finished it, and I thought it was simply amazing. There was some parts I didn't like - I thought Kreacher's quick turnaround seemed a bit contrived, and, like you see, the Snape/Lily childhood thing didn't feel so right either. But on the whole, it was just...amazing. I'm still crying.

The book was superb though I think I should re-read it again soon though I havn't slept yet *yawns* it was wonderful. I loved the snape/lily and kreachers turn around.

i thought it was AMAZING. i was a little...disappointed in some areas, but most the time i was really pleased.

I thought it was a great book start to finish. Some of it I had already predicted and some parts just took me by surprise. Made me laugh, cry, get angry so overall I LOVED it!! And it had a worthy ending to tie all loose knots.!

I simply loved it, and it's gonna remain my favorite of all seven I think. It was amazing writing, like always, and thanks to Jo for giving us such a wonderful story to love and read for so long.

On the other side... it's truly over now. I just can't believe it, there won't be any more books about Harry Potter sad

I don't want it to be over, I want to go back to a week ago and still be expecting DH because it wasn't over then XD

I loved that part - it shows how much of an anti-hero Snape was, fully redeemed as even Harry uses his name in his sons name.

As soon as I finished the book I just sat in silence and thought with sadness 'its all over' and then wanted to read it all over again. I actually dreamed of Snape and Harry that night which was weird lol

It was, by far, the most amazing book of the series. There were only a few bits I didnt like so much, Harry and Ginny marrying grrr (lol) but really, I loved most of it, if not practically all of it!

I thought it was fantastic, I really enjoyed it!

I also feel really weird that the series has ended. I've been in love with the books since I was 8 and now I'm 15 and its all over

Its been part of my life for so long that it seems impossible that there will be no more *tear*

I finished it a few hours ago and I loooved it! :D The whole book had so much suspense and it was so interesting to see everything fit in so well and - ahhh! .. sorry, I think it's too good for words First Thoughts Devil

I think it's also going to be my fave of the series :D Annnnd the writing ... oh my goood! Great!

.. though the one thing I'm so sure about is the epilogue... it's a bit too fanfic-ish, in my opinion.. ^^" ... lol too much happy end XD

Hm, I didn't even cry, just got a bit teary-eyed at the memory when Dumbledore tells Snape that Harry will have to die... and the ending was too happy to even cry that it's the last book xD .. even though it does make me a bit sad...

Second Thoughts:...Albus Severus and Hugo!? What?????

Third Thoughts:...the book's over...*cries*

All in all, I loved the book. Although I too felt as though Snape/Lily relationship was random...*eyetwitches* And I didn't like Harry's kid having the middle name Severus either, it felt too...weird to me. But then again, it IS 19 years later, so...

Final thoughts:...are you SURE about no 8th book, JKR? *wink wink*

I loved it because so many things were finally explained and it was so fast-paced...though I was shocked that so many of the fans had been so right about so many things. And I...I...*tries to calm down*

I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! squeeee!!! lol XD we should have a post-dh squeeage thread as well... but back on topic XD

as I said before, I loved this book and I just felt overwhelmed when I finished it. I LOVED Teddy!!! and I also liked how my fav ships got together! I wish there had been more Trelawney in the book and a few loose ends weren't tied up (for me atleast) so I was a tad confused.. I like Kreacher's role in the story and I kind of liked how the Deathly Hallows had nothing to do with the Horcruxes and I was one of the people who theorized that they were the Horcruxes First Thoughts 13

This book reminded me why I really love the HP series...it was so good in that mind-blowing way. HBP was a bit disappointing to me and I reread the others so many times that I had forgotten just how good JK's writing is and what awesome ideas she has lol.

...I have to admit that my very, very, very, very, very, very, very, VERY first thought was "...that's it!?" and then I went "I need sleep, I need HE, I need more coffee - OH MY GOD IT'S OVER!!!!!!!!!!"

The it all hit me like a train and i continued to cry my eyes out xD

But after an hour or two, I came to the solution that it rocked :D

...even if I wanted Harry dead...

I loved the book, I really did. But there were moments where I just wanted to throw it a few times during certain parts. Of course, I could never let go of it long enough to break from reading it. Hehehe

[b]my first thoughts are a little late as it's been out almost a year, haha. but dont yell at me. i read it as soon as it came out and twice since then. i just never got around to this forum...

so at first i cried when i finished. i was still depressed from my beloved fred. when i stopped i was still sad that the series was over. i was very angry that Joe wont write about Harry till her death (unreasonable, i know). but after my depression i was elated at how the series ended. but i am still, and always will be upset that it's over. well, until the encyclopedia comes out. cuz i wont be at peace till i know the play-by-play life of each and every new child!!!![/b]
