| Harry vs. Voldemort in the book was fabulous, I thought! I really liked the little moments when Harry saw into Voldemort's mind and especially the moment when he seemed to become Voldemort, and we could actually hear Voldemort's thoughts and feelings.
Oh, and did anyone pick up on that fact that Voldemort and Harry are very distantly related? Harry is the descendent of the third Peverell brother, and Voldemort the descendent of another. So they are related to each other, very very distantly.
The final duel was amazing! I loved how Harry really seemed to come into his own, he was self-assured and confident and really told Voldemort off! That duel scene was ...ah...I just loved it.

| Another thing I loved was that it was Expelliarmus that ultimately turned Voldemort's AK back on himself (as well as the Elder Wand, of course), especially because he'd been ridiculed earlier in the book for using Expelliarmus. But in the end it helped bring about Voldemort's defeat. | |

| Perhaps, although Dumbledore did defeat Grindelwald before he had the Elder Wand. | |

| The final battle between Harry and Voldemort is probably one of my favorites in the whole book. It had me yearning to see it portrayed in the movie, unfortunately, we'll have to wait. *tear* Oh well. I love how Harry seemed so sure of himself, how he didn't stammer, he just told Voldemort how it is, and Voldemort listened because he knew it was true as well. And then Harry's 'signature spell' beat Voldemort's, and it was amazing. It was a brilliant job on J.K. Rowling's part, and I could barely contain myself as I read it.
Of course, I could barely contain myself throughout the entire book, but that is another story entirely, now isn't it?

| I really didn't like Harry in all the other books, I thought he was basically being used to tell the story, and he always seemed so happy to trust in whatever Dumbledore said...so I really liked him in this book. He was just so mature, and questioned everything he knew, still made some wrong decisions but was overall excellent. Strangely enough, I thought Voldmemort had a bit more character this time around, too, in the other books he's usually just snarling about killing Harry or why Harry hasn't been killed. In DH though he makes snarky comments (about Lupin and Tonks' marriage, for one) and I thought it interesting when he said he'd rather not kill Hogwarts professors cuz he had great respect for them or whatever.
And when mature Harry finally faces Voldemort...wow. XD

| It was shorter than I would have liked. I thought maybe the battle could have gone on a little more, but it was well written and I liked it. So no complaints there. | |

| The final battle for my was a bit anti-climactic. You have seven books building to this huge show down and pop his spell bounces back to him after an epiphany from Harry.
Don't get me wrong, I think the imagery is fantastic. I would have loved to see more to it however. Perhaps LV trying to use spells on Harry before he told him about the Elder Wand ownership and seeing it just fall away, as they slowly stalked each other step over excruciating step...one just a moment away from everlasting sleep. Or even if she had put fear in Riddles eyes, a momentary glimpse of fear in that end battle it would have been worth it. He was so overly cocky it was crazy. Good ending, not long enough battle.

| I think that the reason JK didn't have anymore action was because Harry just wasn't that good compared to Voldemort. He had the love, and the profecy on his side thought ,and that is what helped him. Dumbledore is really the only one that I think could singly beat Voldemort. Don't get me wrong ,but Im sure that if you had enough people you could take him down ,but if you are going with only one person that person would be Dumbleodre. Harry though had the two on his side so he was fixed as long as he did a counter spell. | |
