| Just a general discussion thread about the whole Deathly Hallows book and the experience of reading it.
How long did it take you to read it? I started at 12.30am and finished 8.30am. I probably took about a total of half an hour's break over the eight hours.
Also, I think I must have missed this, but Marie said to me earlier that Luna mentioned a hippo-like creature that was purple. Someone got the quote for this??

| On page 511 of the US edition Luna and Dean come into Shell Cottage- Luna is talking to Dean:
"...and tiny little ears," Luna was saying, "a bit like a hippo's, Daddy says, only purple and hairy. And if you want to call them, you have to hum; they prefer a waltz, nothing too fast...."
She's talking about the Crumple-Horned Snorkack because she then tells Dean that if he ever comes to her house she'll show him the horn.

| rofl XD I love Luna Anyways, something I have to say about this book... I loved Percy in it! *le gasp shock* I mean he was such a jerk in the other books, but when he came toward the end and was all like 'I was stupid and I was wrong and I was a jerk!' etc it was so great, and then when he fought with them, and when Fred died... it was so sad. But I really liked Percy in this book, it's really the only one in which I liked him. | |

| Having read DH, it got me thinking about the Arc Theory - posted here - and I think a lot of it was right. Things that were in the first book reappeared here. Some I can think of: -The motorbike -Griphook -Ollivander -Ginny only appearing at the beginning and end of the book -Gringotts | |

| Speaking of the arc theory, can you think of the 12 that was meant?
What I mean is, JKR used the number '12'...a lot. So, there's a theory that there was a significant 12 that we see in the last book?

| The only thing I can think of is Grimmauld place, and the minor mention of the twelve uses of dragon's blood. | |

| But that's supposedly just some more hints to the 'important' 12...
And it's really starting to bother me. >_<

| It's Arthur who was given the reprieve. JKR did an interview and said that he was originally planned to die in book five. Here's the article: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/19935372/She also says that Hogwarts post-DH has a new headmaster, the curse on the DADA position is broken and Harry goes back to give talks now and then. She also said that an "encyclopedia" is in the works with details on all these little aspects as well as what other characters did after the war. I'm wondering though if this'll be like Philip Pullman's "Book of Dust". Promised to fans but never given... | |
