| Ten points to Just_Ginny for this lesson suggestion. You may still participate in the class.
Hagrid's lost all his lesson plans for the term, so he needs your help. In this class, write a lesson plan for Care of Magical Creatures that would be suitable for an OWL Level Student.
Follow the following outline:
1. Topic and aim of the lesson: keep it to the study of one type of creature. (20 points) 2. Lesson objectives: what will the students have learned by the end of the class? (20 points) 3. Description of the lesson: what will take place, how will it take place and will Hagrid ask any questions to the students? (20 points) 4. Homework: what homework have you set for the students? (20 points) 5. What level of difficulty is the class? (20 points)
There will be a total of 100 points available for this class. Good Luck!

| Hagrid's Lesson Plans By KatieBellaTrix
1. Topic of the Lesson: To teach the students the diet they would feed to an injured unicorn. So, if they ever come acroos one, they will able to help it. It will teach them repect for fellow beings and hopefully teach them compassion for other creatures.
2. Lesson Objectives: The students will learn to find food a unicorn should eat to help it heal if no proper potions or healers are around. They will also know the diffrence between what to feed a unicorn foal and a full grown one. Also, how to feed and approach the unicorn will be taught.
3. Lesson Plan: When the students arrive, we will head off to the paddock and review what they already know about unicorns from the previous lesson. Then we will go through plants commonly found in forests that unicorns like to eat. (Note: Students should have their copy of 1000 Magical Herbs and Fungi). Next out of those we will discuss which ones have magical healing properties. We will do the same thing with a diet for a unicorn foal. Hagrid will ask the students to keep lists of all the plants and fungi they list and what properties they contain to be handed in at the end fo class.
4. Homework: Students will have to research and write and essay on how to approach an injured unicorn and what to do if they see one.
5. Difficulty: This will be test on their OWLS but is not a terribly difficult lesson becasue they have various refrence materials. I would give it a 3 out of 5.

To help them understand the civilisation of which they live in, their culture and beliefs and what they eat. 2. Lesson objectives: what will the students have learned by the end of the class? To be able to write about the civilisation, culture and beliefs of mermaids. 3. Description of the lesson: what will take place, how will it take place and will Hagrid ask any questions to the students? First of all Hagrid will have all the students to gather around him whilst he tells them the aim and objectives of the lesson. The first question that will be asked is. Does anyone know about the civilisation of mermaids? Next he will then give them various information and have them turn to a certain page in their text book. After having them read through the page he will then ask. What is the culture like for mermaids? After the question is answered whether or not is was he will then give them some more information which was not from the book. Also personal stories he has heard from other people and books he read before the class. Then he will ask if Anyone knows what the beliefs are for mermaids? After that question has been asked he will then give them all some more information before taking them to the lake. To the surprise of everyone in the class Hagrid can speak some Mermish. So with one of the mermaids coming up to sore with a little bribe from Dumbledore Hagrid tells the class to ask some questions they can ask the mermaid. Walking back to the circle where they were he will then give them their homework. 4. Homework: what homework have you set for the students? Their homework is to answer some questions set by Hagrid. What have you learnt from talking to the mermaid? How different to you think our world is from their world? Do you think they will adapt more to our world or stick to their own? What is the mermaid civilisation like? What is their culture? What beliefs to they have? After answering the few questions a small picture is to be drawn. 5. What level of difficulty is the class? The knowledge of what the learn is for OWL level as basic mermaid knowledge is required for their exam. The meeting with the mermaid though is NEWT level.

| Topic: The Grindylow.Aim of Lesson: Learn identification, habitat, behaviour, diet, and defence strategies. What will happen:- (before lesson)1. In a clearing in the grounds, set up 4 large tanks and fill with pond water. NOT TO MURKY: the students need to see the creatures. 2. Catch 5 grindylows and put them in one tank.3. Magically create some 5 sets of fake grindylows, animate and place in tanks. REMEMBER: These fake grindylows must look like real ones, except each with a physical aspect of a Grindylow wrong or missing.(Lesson)1. Take the students to the tanks and ask them to find 'The Grindylow' in there text books.Give them 20 minutes to look at the 'Identification' section and examine the animals in each tank. Identification: Small, pale green colour, long pointed horns on bulbous, long fingers and tentacles, very sharp pointed green teeth, pot belly. Ask each student to stand by the tank that they think contains the real grindylows. Students who stand by the correct tank earn 5 points each for their house.Ask the students to put their textbooks away as the last half of the lesson is guess work and correction, rather than just reading from the book when answering questions.2. Ask the students to describe an adequate habitat and why such feature help their lifestyle.Habitat: Usually found in lakes and ponds in Great Britain and Island. Very murky water, so to creep up on unsuspecting victims at water edges. Weed beds at the bottom of lakes and ponds which are easy to hide in as they are the same colour as their skin and so are missed when divers/swimmers swim by.3. Ask about behavioural habits of the grindylow.
- What classification do the MOM put on this creature?
- Why are they considered that dangerous?
- What do they do to their victim?
- How can you avoid them killing you?
- How can you escape from an attacking
Grindylow?
Behaviour: A Grindylow in the ministry is marked as a double x creature which means they are a treat to humans. A grindylow waits for its victim to get very close to the waters edge before pouncing and enclose them with their tentacles and long fingers. Each grindylow will try to strangle and drown their victim, even sometimes in knee deep water. The way to escape from an attacking grindylow is to break their grip. Although their fingers are abnormally long, they are very brittle and can be broken easily with the right amount of force.4. Ask the students about diet.Diet: Small fish, insects and pond weed.Homework: Write a very detailed report on what has been learnt today with particular emphasis on identification and behaviour. 1 roll of parchment by next lesson. Difficulty: This lesson is can be difficult at the beginning as the fake grindylows will look almost identical to the real ones but keen eyes will notice the differences. I would say this could be among the 1st few lessons taught to 3rd years.Sources: HP Lexicon, HP Wiki, Mythical Wiki.
