| 1. When was the planet Pluto said to be discovered and who discovered it? It was said to be discovered February 18, 1930 by Clyde W. Tombaugh.
2. What is Pluto’s rotation period? Pluto’s rotation period is −6.387230 d (6 d 9 h 17 m 36 s). This is a lot of information that I don’t understand.
3. What is Pluto’s average density? Pluto’s density is 2.03±0.06 g/cm3 [2]. This is also a lot of information that I don’t understand.
4. What is Pluto’s surface said to be like? Pluto’s surface is heterogeneous. They are able to find this information out from the Hubble Telescope. Also Pluto is said to have methane ice, on one half and the other half is said to have nitrogen and carbon monoxide.
5. How many moons does Pluto have? Name one of them! Pluto has three moons. Charon, which is a bit smaller then Pluto. There is also two other ones named P1 and P2...lol they weren’t really give any names.
6. What is the name of Pluto’s satellite and when was it discovered? It was called Charon and it was discovered in 1978. This helped determine the mass of Pluto-Charon, by using the Newton’s formulation of Kepler’s third law.
7. Some people believe that Pluto should be considered as what, opposed to a planet, and why? Some people believe that Pluto should be called Planet X. One person pointed out that Pluto would be in danger of vanishing. This caused people to debate over Pluto’s status as a “planet”.
8. A myth/legend circles around that of Pluto. In your own words, tell the tale of this myth. The planet Pluto was discovered in the 20th century. It was given its name by astronomers not astrologers. The myth of Pluto doesn’t symbolically doesn’t represent the astrological themes. Such as the Roman god Pluto ruled the underworld, and the planet Pluto brings out issues in our “psychological underworld”.
Bonus : Post a picture of Pluto and describe what you can see within the shot.
Pluto looks kind of greyish with a tinge of white. It almost looks like our moon, except it has more grey. You can see where the ice spots are. It looks really interesting!

| 1. When was the planet Pluto said to be discovered and who discovered it? Clyde W. Tombaugh.
2. What is Pluto’s rotation period?
3. What is Pluto’s average density?
4. What is Pluto’s surface said to be like? Little is known about Pluto's atmosphere, but it probably consists primarily of nitrogen with some carbon monoxide and methane. It is extremely tenuous, the surface pressure being only a few microbars. Pluto's atmosphere may exist as a gas only when Pluto is near its perihelion; for the majority of Pluto's long year, the atmospheric gases are frozen into ice. Near perihelion, it is likely that some of the atmosphere escapes to space perhaps even interacting with Charon. NASA mission planners want to arrive at Pluto while the atmosphere is still unfrozen.
5. How many moons does Pluto have? Name one of them! Three moons one is named Charon
6. What is the name of Pluto’s satellite and when was it discovered? Charon andwas discovered in 1978 (The month and date is not shown)
7. Some people believe that Pluto should be considered as what, opposed to a planet, and why? Many believe that pluto should be considered as a moon because it is too small to be an actual planet and therefore think that it might have belonged as a distant moon to one of the planet's that lost gravitational force and became on it's own.
8. A myth/legend circles around that of Pluto. In your own words, tell the tale of this myth.
After the defeat of the Titans by the Jovian gods, Pluto became the king/ God of the underworld. One day, while he was practicing his sword wielding, Cupid, playfully shot an arrow into the heart of Pluto.
Struck by Cupid's arrow, Pluto fell in love with the first young lady he saw, who happened to be Persephone. Pluto promptly carried her off into the underworld to be his bride.

How many moons does Pluto have? Name one of them! (2) 3. One is Charon 6. What is the name of Pluto’s satellite and when was it discovered? (2) Charon is the satellite, discovered in 1978 7. Some people believe that Pluto should be considered as what, opposed to a planet, and why? (4) It should be considered an asteroid instead of a planet because it is the smallest planet, large enough to be an asteroid from the Kuiper belt. 8. A myth/legend circles around that of Pluto. In your own words, tell the tale of this myth. (4) Charon is the person who took the dead across the River Styx to Hades (Roman name is Pluto). Therefore, it is fitting that they go hand in hand together as planet and satellite. 5. Number of moons 3. One named Charon. (http://www.pubquizhelp.34sp.com/sci/planets.html)
6. Charon, and it was discovered on June 22 1978 (http://www.answers.com/topic/charon-moon)
7. Many astronomers speculate that it is a comet, and part of the Kuiper belt as its composition is similiar to other comets in the belt. It is very small. It's 6 times smaller than Earth, and even smaller than seven of the solar system's moons. (http://www.studyworksonline.com/cda/content/article/0,,EXP666_NAV4-42_SAR920,00.shtml)
8. Pluto ruled the shadowlands. He took Persephone into the underworld. Demeter ensured the earth became barren until Persephone's safe return.
A compromise was reached where she spent part of the year in the underworld and part of year on earth, hence the seasons of summer and winter.
Pluto's symbolism is about change and transformation through the painful process of finding truth and meaning. It also corresponded with the rise of depth psychology.
