But I'm a Cheerleader

Really an amazing movie that makes you think a lot! And while some people don't watch movie to think but to relax (like... American Pie) this one is really worth watching and thinking for a little while.

It is rated R though, so not available for all, but not because of violence or sex scenes, only because of bad language and it deals with sexual issues (homosexuality).

It focus on the time when people thought homosexuality was a illness that could be cured (and sadly some people still think that way today, but there isn't as many of them which is good) and for that, they have a 'rehab camp' for homosexual teens, to put them back in the 'right' way, so the straight way. They teach them how to act like 'normal' women and men (with stereotypes such as the girls are all dressed in pink and the boys in blue, and the girls learn how to clean and take care of babies while the boys learn mechanic and how to chop wood) but while it can seem frustrating at a first glance to see how they treat it, it's really not a movie to take seriously for the most part because it makes fun of that, showing how stupid it is to think that way, and it shows that homosexuality is not a illness.

It's got a great cast as well, with Clea DuVall for one thing and Natasha Lyonne - which bring us back to my reference to American Pie earlier... because as my friend made me notice, when you see that girl in a movie, you almost immediately think of her as the girl who plays Jessica in American Pie, while she has done a much better movie for which she should be recognized more.

That is one of my all-time favorite movies. Have you ever seen Get Real? It's along the same lines, but not quite as campy.
