| Part One. I want you to research the art of Palmistry. Having researched this, i want you to now write a 200 word minimum essay on the subject. You may use photographs, graphs and over visual aids for this part. Palmistry is an art of telling the future that is also known as Chiromancy, hand analysis, and the better known palm reading. It is said to be founded in India and had spread throughout Europe to other countries. The three lines most analyzed by palm readers are the heart line, head line, and the life line. The heart line is one of the 3 major lines which normally go from your pointer finger to the side of the pinky in a flat u-shaped look. Palm readers interpret this line as the condition of the person’s heart -both physically and mentally. Physically as in good health and mentally as in depressions, heartbreaks and other things related either to romance or your feelings Another major line is the head line. It symbolizes how a person thinks – like his or her learning style, creativity and even if you are right brain or left brain! It is found from near the index finger and trails to the edge of the palm opposite side of it in a straight looking line – sometimes even touching the life line (which will be explained next) The last major line is called the life line. It is the longest and probably the most noticeable line on ones palm. Normally it goes from the edge of the palm above the thumb and ends at towards the wrist in an arc. As what its name says, it represents ones life – some say that the longer it is, the longer your life will be. But some palmers disagree, saying it only represents how much energy you have and how is your lifestyle. Cleromancy is a type of it. Cleromancy is a divination method where you throw bones and such (like dices) and the foreteller will know by looking at it what is in the future Augury is to tell the future by omens. For example, the grim in Harry Potter represents death or bad luck. The Romans long ago used augury by watching the flight and habits of birds. It is probably named after the Roman priest Augur who had the job of studying birds (their habits, flights, noises etc) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auguryhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleromancyhttp://www.occultopedia.com/a/augury.htm | |

| Part 1
PalmistryPalmistry is the art of reading character and destiny from the shape of the hand and the lines of the palm. It is not fortune-telling but about knowing yourself and where you are going. The palm gives us a map of our life and it is up to us to make the most of it: through self-awareness we can shape our fate and affect our future If you imagine that we all possess different energies and the palm shows us the way they flow. So, for example, you could be a very creative person but you are doing a very monotonous job. You are bored because you are not in tune with your true nature. But this changes when you have a job that uses that creative side. There is no right or wrong answer: just finding the things in life that make you happy and contented.
It is important to note that the lines of the hand can change, for better or for worse. Nothing is set in stone and we have free will to change our future. Life is what we make it.
Left or Right HandsThe hand you use is called the major, or outer hand. This indicates any future events, as well as what you are like on the outside.
The other hand is the minor, or inner hand. This shows your potential, as well as what you are like on the inside. Right-handed people tend to be more logical because that part is connected to the analytical, left side of the brain.
Left-handed people tend to be more creative because that part is connected to the intuitive, right side of the brain.
How Does It FeelThe texture and feel of the hand is important in an initial assessment. Is it soft? Or hard? Does it bend easily under pressure or is it very rigid? The job has no relevance to the feel of the hand: manual workers can have soft hands and office workers can have hard hands.
People with really soft hands are refined, sensitive and prefer genteel activities. Hard-skinned people are tough and prefer plenty of activity and concrete matters.
Some people’s hands are really pliable and bendy: this indicates an easy going and flexible nature. If you have really stiff hands this shows a determined/stubborn nature. You tend to hold your groun
Finger LengthThe proportion of the fingers in relation to each other is very important. They each stand for a character marking and indicate the strength of that quality.
Forefinger: Confidence, ego, ambition, drive. Middle finger: Discipline, balance. Ring finger: Emotional expression, creativity. Little finger: Communication.
Part 2 SORTILEGEIn the Victorian times a popular method of fortune telling, that required no psychic abilities, was Sortilege which divined the future by the drawing of lots. The Sortilege tradition of aleuromancy survives today in the "fortune cookies" available in some Chinese restaurants. Other Sortilege systems involved casting bones (Astragalmancy), drawing marked arrows from a bag (Belomancy) and divination with coloured pebbles (Pessomancy) The easiest form of Sortilege uses a printed table to give an answer to a question about the future. In addition to the random element of casting lots these magic tables draw upon the magic significance of numbers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sortilege AUGURY is the general term for the art of divination and is chiefly applied to interpretations of signs and omensAugury is an ancient form of diviation. The practice was performed in ancient Rome by priests called augurs. It entailed the interpretation of auspices that is the movement of birds and/or the movement of animals. Also included in this form of divination was the interpretation of the significance of thunder and lightening. Those signs on the augurs left or east side denoted a favorable outcome, while those on the right pointed to an ill-omen. This method of divination was practically unknown in ancient Mesopotamia and Palestine Augur - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia | |

Concept Palmistry is the art of characterization and telling the future through the study of the palm. Also known as palm-reading, chirology or hand analysis. Found all over the world, with numerous ways of doing it according to culture of each country. Palmists, palm readers, hand readers, or chirologists are all those who practice palmistry. Palmistry can trace its roots back to Indian Astrology and Roman fortune tellers.
Techniques Consists of the practice of evaluating a person's character or future life by reading or analyzing their palm. There are various lines such as the heart line, life line and head line. Some readers also examine characteristics of the fingers, fingernails, fingerprints, skin texture, shape of palm, and flexibility of hand. The begin examining the dominant hand, the one the person uses to write.
Hand Shape Divided into four main types corresponding to Classical elements. Earth Hands have broad, square palms and fingers, thick skin, and ruddy color. Air Hands have square or rectangular palms with long fingers, low-set thumbs, and dry skin. Water Hands have long, sometimes oval-shaped palm, with long, flexible fingers. Fire Hands have rectangular palm, flushed or pink skin, and shorter fingers.
Lines There are three main types of lines. The Heart Line is the mayor of all. Found at the top of the palm, under the fingers. Palmists interpret this line to matters of the heart; physical and metaphorical. It indicates emotional stability, romantic perspectives, depression, and various aspects of cardiac health.
The next line is The Head Line. Starts at the edge of the palm under the index finger and flows across the palm towards the outside edge. Palmists generally interpret this line to the person's mind and the way it works. Including learning style, communication style, intellectualism, and thirst for knowledge.
The Life Line is the last to be read. This line starts from the edge of the palm above the thumb and goes in an arc towards the wrist. Believed to represent the person's vitality and vigor, physical health and well being. Also reflects major life changes.
There are other lines such as Fate Line, Sun Line, Girdle of Venus, Union Lines, Mercury Line, Travel Line and Apollo Line.
Part Two i am going to give you two words, you are going to give me as much information on these two arts. SORTILEGE and AUGURY.
Sortilege The casting of lots and the assessment of omens indicated. Divination by casting or drawing lots. The Sortilege tradition in fortune cookies available in Chinese restaurants. Other Sortilege systems are Astragalmancy, Belomancy and Pessomancy.
Augury A group of ancient Roman religious officials who foretold events by observing and interpreting signs and omens. Sometimes refers to the ritual sacrifice of an animal and the examination of its organs for an indication of the future. Augury concerns signs brought from the gods by birds. The Roman form of augury was said to have begun with Attus Navius around 600 BCE. According to legend, Navius was a swineherd who owned a vineyard. One day when he lost one of his pigs, he prayed to the Lares that if they would assist him in finding the pig, he would sacrifice his choicest bunch of grapes to them. The next day the pig was found. Proceeding in this manner he discovered an enormous bunch of grapes, which he then sacrificed to the Lares.

| Part One.
Palmistry also known as Cheiromancy is a form of divination. It is the way of telling the future just by reading ones hands. There are lines on ones hands and the lines are what are used to tell the future. Each line has its own meaning and depending on its shape, you get a different reading with different people. Those who read others hands are called Palmists, palm readers, hand readers, or chorologists.
Palmistry started out in India and the Hindu sage Valmiki is the one that some thought who had written a book called “The Teachings of Valmiki Maharshi on Male Palmistry” when it was translated into English.
Not only is the lines on your hand are to be read but there are other things that Palmist look at too. They might look to see how flexible you are or even your skin tone. They might look at your finger nails, finger prints or even just your fingers.
Palmists start out by reading your dominated hand. That would be the one that you use the most. The other hand is believed to carry past-life or karmic information or even things that you had gotten from your parents through heredity. The lines that are on your hand remain there but as you grow older new lines many form.
Part Two
SORTILEGE You draw random symbols to which the meanings will provides the omen or answer to an inquiry.
AUGURY. One of the most authentically Celtic means of seeking omens. It is the observation of natural things.
