First find a picture of a model or anyone that you wish to change the colour of their hair.

This is the picture that I choose of Tyra Banks.

Step 1:
First duplicate the layer, this will protect the original copy and help with the masking possess.

Step 2:
Go to Image-> Adjustments-> Hue/Saturation OR CTRL + U.

Step 3:
Make sure colourize is checked in the bottom right hand corner. Then move the sliders back in forth to find the colour that you wish to change the hair. Now don’t worry if the whole pictures changes colours, I’ll explain how to fix that in the next step. Once you have your colour click ok.

Step 4:
Now go to Layer-> Layer Mask-> Hide All

This will return your picture back to normal but leave a mask to the right side.

Step 5:
Now take your brush and make sure your foreground colour is white and your background colour is black. Take your brush and change your occupancy to 50%. It’s now time to start colouring along the parts of your pictures hair. This will change your hair colour to the one that you choose in the hue/saturation.

Step 6:
You’re done, you can either do the whole hair, or streaks of it like I’ve done. Good luck, and have fun!!

Thanks for this tutorial Herby, it was really fun :D wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee - For those with Paint.Net too- it can be done! XD

Instead of using the Hue/Saturation on the entire picture, use the "Lasso Select" to pick what parts you want to do. That way, you don't have to do the whole picture then try and erase everything you don't want to be that color ^^ You can use the eraser to clean up the edges though, which helps a ton!

For peolpe who have PSP7 you can do it. I done it by going to Layers>>New Raster Layer and then I went to spray can and choose a size( I used 36). Then you have to have Layer Palette up so it you can do this. If you dont know what that is, it is the little squares (red and aqua looking color) at the top. Then when you chose you color(I used a dark red becuase it does better) and colored over the whole top part and it doesnt matter if you get on the skin becuase you have to earse. When you finish, there should be a blakc and white thing in the Layer Palette and slide it over until you can see the hair so you can earse. If you have the burn blend, you dont have to earse on the white background but you will on the skin. Also, you could use this to do the lips, just diffrent layers. I did this to make a Rose Weasley to(which wasnt suppose to be her,and it didnt come out right becuase Emma Watson's lips dont have a dip in it.) and color Helena Carters lips in a black in white picture.
