| As suggested in the Head of House Office, The Hogwarts Pensieve will be undergoing a revival.
To do this, we need an editorial team. If you're interested in becoming part of the team, complete the following application in a reply to this topic.
To become a part of the team you need to be able to come up with interesting and fun articles, columns or graphics and art, and to be able to work well with others. You'll need to be dedicated in bringing each edition to life, and work to a deadline.
Everyone who becomes part of the team will receive 150 housepoints every time a new issue is released.
Application
1. Why would you like to be on the Hogwarts Pensieve team? 2. Come up with an idea for an article (or similar), and outline what would be in it. 3. Write a paragraph (or more!) from the article you outlined previously.
Applications will remain open for about a week, after which a decision will be announced!

1. Why would you like to be on the Hogwarts Pensieve team, even though it will not earn you any housepoints?
Because I like Hogwarts. And Pensieves. And teams. Oh, and newspapers!
...also, because it would keep me writing, and I need to practice my writing. I've gotten lazy lately.
Adding to that, why isn't it worth points? I have a feeling participation would be more consistent if housepoints were involved...
2. Come up with an idea for an article (or similar), and outline what would be in it.
Idea 1--The Purple Hippo--Soon to be a Myth?
Address the issue of the endangered Purple Hippo. Discuss the purple hippo reserves around the world, what is causing their numbers to fall so drastically, and what can be done to ensure that the purple hippo doesn't become extinct.
3. Write a paragraph (or more!) from the article you outlined previously.
The Purple Hippo--Soon to be a Myth?
These gentle giants have always been a favorite among wizarding children for their bright purple color and whimsically sweet expressions. They have the ability to vanish while underwater, and for a while they were employed in various entertainment companies. However, unfair treatment and living conditions soon caused the Purple H Protection Law to be written, which ensures that Purple Hippos may not be used for profit, either private or commercial.
However, their habitats are rapidly being destroyed, owing to their need for large bodies of water surrounded by vast plains. When overcrowded, the purple hippos tend not to reproduce, which was another reason for the creation of the P H Protection Law. Experts say that if something is not done immediately to preserve their natural habitats or create new ones, Purple Hippos will soon cease to exist.
The Kloorey Zoo in the United States is home to five adult Purple Hippos, though none of them have as of yet born any young... | |

| 1. Why would you like to be on the Hogwarts Pensieve team?
Well to start of with I had the idea of having a Hogwarts magazine which later became here to revive the Hogwarts Pensieve. I had much fun doing a newspaper and writing the articles for the HE Howler. When the pensieve was first about I used to love reading it and thinking how much hard work has gone into it. I would love to be part of that. I think it will also help that I am extremely active on here and know the site quite well. I would love to try and make it better and I remember some of the excitement that used to be made through the next edition of the Hogwarts Pensieve. I love writing too, I think with all the stuff I do here on HE it has helped me with many things for starters my English has pulled up greatly and I am now predicted to get an A for GCSE. I think that writing for this newspaper would help me practise as for some of my coursework I have to write a newspaper article piece. I think with my activeness that I will be able to make all the deadlines set. Also as one of my possible careers I put journalism I think this will be a great help for me to practise and see if that is something I do really want to look into. Apart from that I think I would just enjoy it all and would love to see the end result of something I have put my hard work into also.
2. Come up with an idea for an article (or similar), and outline what would be in it.
Quidditch. Has it become to commercialised?
This idea is something like the Halloween debate. Now a days things are becoming too commercialised and are there to make money. Is it becoming the same for Quidditch with the price of brooms and equipment its all about the gear you have now whereas to how you play.
3. Write a paragraph (or more!) from the article you outlined previously.
No body loves nothing more than a good game of Quidditch. But like many of our other traditions has Quidditch become to commercialised and overrated? From the game of skill and precision that everyone loves many people are now just using the game to make money. For example anywhere you go you can now purchase a poster of your favourite quidditch star or team. Calendars are being made along with bed sheets and curtains. Yes it is great to have so many things that could can buy but now things have become way too over priced and tacky. Every child in the wizarding world has rode a broom and seen a game of Quidditch but how many know the true History behind? Not enough. Many Quidditch players are also saying that the best thing about their job is not the playing but the money and fame. The game of Quidditch is starting to be forgotten and it is now all about the money. Soon the game of Quidditch we all loved will be turned into an event where you can buy and sell goods and the game will be lost within the money.

1. Why would you like to be on the Hogwarts Pensieve team?
Because the pensieve is the only place where Ettie Skeeter seems to be able to escape my control and run free, plus i love it.
2. Come up with an idea for an article (or similar), and outline what would be in it.
Ettie Skeeter exclusive reports.
As Ettie Skeeter, i shall investigate numerous rumors from around the site, as i have previously done, and bring to light the mischief and trouble caused by certain members of staff and members.
3. Write a paragraph (or more!) from the article you outlined previously.
Ettie Skeeter Exclusive: Inside the Badger Hole.
Earlier this morning i received an anonymous owl, detailing the departure of a ship from the Hufflepuff House Common Room. Using my excellent investigating skills and unique ability to escape all sticky situations, i packed my bag, and headed off towards Hufflepuff Tower, with the intent of boarding the vessel and unearthing the true reasons behind the sudden voyage of the Buoyant Badger. | |

1. Why would you like to be on the Hogwarts Pensieve team?
I like to write... XD Umm... I've always found that creative writing is my forte, when compared with other subjects. In School's Out, I really enjoyed writing for the HE Howler, so I think that I'd have just as much fun, if not more, writing for the Hogwarts Pensieve. And I won't deny it, the housepoints are also quite tempting... lol But mostly, I really love to write and writing here would give me more experience with deadlines/would let my creativity flow .
2. Come up with an idea for an article (or similar), and outline what would be in it.
I have an idea for a series of articles: Interviews with the trio and various other members of the light and the dark (*coughMalfoyscough*), taking place after Deathly Hallows.
3. Write a paragraph (or more!) from the article you outlined previously.
Here's something I wrote for the HE Howler: an interview with Harry. If an excerpt from something already completed isn't alright, then just point it out and I'll happily write another Amy!
After many weeks of negotiation with the famous Harry Potter and his lawyer, Mr. Percival Weasley, the HE Howler is proud to present an exclusive interview with the savior of the Wizarding World,: Harry James Potter himself. Yours truly was lucky enough to snag the assignment, so I hope I did this wonderful man justice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sitting at a quaint table outside of Florean Fortescue’s ice cream shop, I am slightly awed at the man across the table from me. He is Mr. Harry James Potter, acknowledged savior of the Wizarding World, yet he appears humble of his accomplishments, and down-to-earth. He is dressed casually and my eyes are instinctively drawn up to examine his trademark lightining-shaped scar. Even now, nineteen year after the defeat of You - Know- - Lord Voldemort, the symbol of the Boy-Who-Lived remains… though he is a boy no longer. I sit, my scarlet and gold-streaked quill poised over my notepad.
Mr. Potter smiles and his green eyes seem to sparkle. “Gryffindor colors,” he remarks.
I smile tentatively and nod. “Yes, I was a Gryffindor at school.”
He remains smiling and appears relaxed, an emotion and that I wish I could share. I bite my lip and decide to begin the interview.
“So Mr. Potter.” I begin somewhat hesitantly, “Let’s start at the beginning. When you were a year old, you survived the Killing Curse, a completely unprecedented event. How did you do that?”
“Before I answer your question Ms. Mei, please just call me Harry,” he replied genially.
I nod and wait for him to continue.
“It’s not because of me that I survived the curse,” Harry continues, “It was all due to my mother’s love.”
“Oh? I ask, slightly puzzled. I had never heard of any involvement from Lily Potter before…
“Yes,” Harry said. “My mother, Lily Potter, sacrificed her life for mind, and that great sacrifice of love caused the Avada Kedavra to rebound when Lord Voldemort tried to kill me.”
I blinked; this influx of information even kept me from flinching at the feared name… old habit. “That’s extremely interesting Mr. Po – Harry,” I said, scribbling away on my notepad. Thank Merlin for re-inking quills. “And after that night?” I continued after a brief silence while I wrote notes. “You were sent to your aunt and uncle, correct? Both muggles?”
Harry slowly inclined his head, an interesting look appearing on his face. Sensing an uncomfortable vibe, I quickly said, “I understand that you lived with them full-time until you received your Hogwarts letter. I’m sorry if I’m intruding, but well… what was that like?”
I hoped I hadn’t offended him… I breathed a little sigh of relief as he answered, “I considered the life I led to be normal, though it would have seemed, and still would seem, extensively unusual to anyone that I know. I was not mistreated, per say… but I was, to my relatives, more or less a servant of the house. I was expected to do chores around and outside the house, like a house-elf. I was not treated as an equal, but as a burden because my Aunt Petunia disliked my mother.”
I plainly, flat-out stared. This was Harry Potter, the Chosen One, the Boy-Who-Lived! How could his relatives have treated him as anything less than well… a prince! I suppose my surprise showed on my face, because Harry quickly explained, “My muggle relatives were extremely anti-magic. To put it bluntly, you could say that they acted as prejudiced pureblooded wizards could imagine as the ‘worst type of muggle’.”
“Oh,” I replied, trying to get out of my state of shock. I cleared my throat and plowed on. “During your first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is it true that you helped save the Sorcerer’s Stone from Lord Voldemort?” He nodded and I continued. “How?”
“Well, actually, my best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, though now she’s a Weasley too, helped me quite a lot. If it hadn’t been for them, I would never have made it as far as I did,” Harry replied. “Together, we discovered that Lord Voldemort’s essence had ‘taken up house’ in our Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Quirrel, though at first, we thought it was Professor Snape.”
“Snape? Headmaster Severus Snape?”
“Yes. And he wasn’t a Death Eater, not really, anyway…”
“Please, would you explain?” I was eager for new information. It was accepted as a fact that Headmaster Severus Snape, previously the Potions Professor at Hogwarts had been a spy for Lord Voldemort… but the views of many people were muddled because of all of Snape’s contradicting actions. I tapped my quill against my notepad, refilling it.
Harry smiled. He seemed as eager to clear this issue up as I was to hear about it. “I would most certainly explain… but Ms. Mei –“
To get the story quicker, I decided to do away with formalities. “Please call me Rhia or Rhiannon, whichever you prefer,” I quickly interjected.
He nodded. “As I was saying, I would gladly explain Rhiannon, but …” He glanced at his watch. “I fear that if I take the time to tell the long story, we won’t have time to discuss the many other things I’m sure you were planning to discuss...” his voice trailed off.
I shrugged. Severus Snape had been such an enigma for so long… Plenty of people had heard that the late Headmaster and Harry Potter had been enemies. But for an enemy to understand the other? I was sure my editor wouldn’t mind if I took off on this track of thought. “I think we’ll be able to schedule a second interview; would that be alright Harry?” I offered.
He relaxed and nodded his agreement. “That’d be just fine,” he said. “So to the story. I’m sure almost everyone knows that Professor Snape and I had never liked each other… at all. He disliked me because of my resemblance to my father, James Potter, and I disliked him because he was Head of Slytherin House and was extremely prejudiced. When he killed Professor Dumbledore, I felt… well… very murderous.”
……………. Murderous???
“I wanted revenge, because I believed that Snape had murdered in cold blood and as a loyal Death Eater. I thought he had been a traitor to an organization that was fighting against Voldemort,” Harry continued.
“But he wasn’t, right?” I said.
“Right,” Harry said, nodding. “Snape was one of the bravest men I ever had the pleasure to know. He had killed Dumbledore on Dumbledore’s on orders, in order to remain within Voldemort’s trust. If it were not for Severus Snape, we might not have won the war.”
I nodded as well. “So… you could say Snape was merely misunderstood?”
Harry’s green eyes seemed to water for a moment, but then any sign of tears was gone. “Very misunderstood,” he concluded, “Especially by me.”
It was a touching moment and I winced as the scritch-scratch of my quill disturbed the silence. | |

1. Why would you like to be on the Hogwarts Pensieve team?
I feel that perhaps it will help me interact with others more and keep on top of the goings on in the site as HE changes so much. I would also love to be more actively involved in a great site.
2. Come up with an idea for an article (or similar), and outline what would be in it.
Hogwarts Experience through the ages
Outline: Each issue can cover a specific timeframe of HE from the very beginning
3. Write a paragraph (or more!) from the article you outlined previously.
The Hogwarts Experience opened in February 2006 with xxx members. Almost straight away, places were taken for those all important roles of staff members, including [insert names here]. The first forums to be opened were xxxxxx and quickly grew throughout this first month as did the members, until we reached xx members after only month 1
