| "You’re up in five Miss Elkins," called Kayla, the woman in charge of making sure everyone went on at their correct times. Cat really wasn't sure if she wanted to do this anymore, especially after that rumor a certain someone started about her and Buckbeak. It really was embarrassing and not to mention has made it harder to win over Draco Malfoy since it was said that she said that none of the Malfoys were her type, which was a complete lie. Now she feared she would be laughed at as she walked on stage because everyone thought she had a thing for some bloody hippogriff. “Two minute left,” Kayla said, trying to hurry her up. Cat sighed and decided to suck it up, hold her head high, and get on with the show. She quickly checked herself in the mirror and walked with Kayla to the entrance to the stage. “You will walk on stage, say your little hello, maybe introduce yourself, and then get on to showing whatever talent you got,” Kayla instructed as she placed a miniature microphone on Cat’s shirt. Cat nodded in understanding and she smiled. The announcer then sounded. “Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, witches and wizards of all ages, let me introduce you to Cat Elkins!” “Break a leg,” Kayla whispered. Cat smiled and walked through the curtains, onto the lit stage, wearing torn jeans, a baggy sweater, some randomly picked shoes at Payless that matched, and a few accessories. | |

| Cat felt she would almost go blind under the spotlights, but luckily her eyes quickly adjusted. She smiled to the crowd. “Hello everyone,” she began. “As you all know I am Cat Elkins. Last round I brought you all a comic of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy in Diagon Alley, showing how I believe they got their gorgeous albino peacocks. Now I bring you all a new talent of mine, evolving vector art and other little things I learned in Photoshop.” Cat smiled again and decided to add something before she showed off her work. “But before I get on with the show I would like to announce that all the rumors of me having a thing for Buckbeak are not true, in fact I have never met the hippogriff and personally they aren’t my type. Also the rumors of me and Draco Malfoy are true. I do fancy him and want him bad. With all that said, on with the show.” There were gasps and mummers in the crowd. She chuckled to herself and continued. “First I would like to show you the starting image.” A projecting screen was revealed behind curtains and Cat walked towards it, picking up the clicker Velcro-ed to its side. She clicked the one button and an image appeared. “This image I found online and I instantly saw potential in it. With the bright red hair, the plaid, the goggles, the boots, and just plain fun look, I decided I had to do something with it. I knew I wanted to do practice with vector and use it as a base for some final project. I knew with as much detail as I wanted to put in it, it would take a while and being that I don’t have very much patience, it was a bit of a struggle.” | |

| “Using the pen tool, I did this,” she said as she clicked and a new photo came up on the screen. “The pen tool is a tool I have only started using recently and is rapidly becoming one of my favorites,” She continued. “It is used for vector or vexel art, or pretty much any really easy fill-ins in whatever shape you want. It is often debated on whether or not Photoshop produces true vectors. Yes when you zoom it will show tiny pixel, but if you go to image size and enlarge it, it will not show it. It will be just like the smaller image just larger.” “Anyways, now that I had my vector image, I decided to add some pizzazz to it.” She clicked again. | |

| “Originally I was thinking just arrows and circles, but they just didn’t look right,” Cat went on. “I realized I had these city street brushes that I hadn’t used before and tested them out. I was able to use a few of them, adding them at the ends of each other. Of course that wasn’t enough, so I messed with more brushes. It led to a bottom surface because she wouldn’t look right floating in air and graffiti and arrow brushes behind her. I also wanted some type of wording, which was solved when I found my text brushes with wording that I felt worked well with it. “Lastly I wanted it to look a bit more realistic, yet still not, thus getting this,” she said with another click. | |

| “This was the easiest part of everything,” Cat said, looking at the audience. “All I did was take the original image and set it an opacity between 10-30%. I can’t remember what exact percentage I set it to because I kept switching around. I was never good at making up my mind. But anyways this was my final outcome and am quite happy with it.” | |

| "And with that my performance is done," Cat said with a grin on her face. "I would like to thank all who helped me get over my patience and get it done, basically by talking to me for a bit and giving opinions instead of me just scrapping it. That means my great friends Anthony and Raechel, the latter one is not a member of Hogwarts-Experience but I will sooner or later talk her into it." She chuckled and continued. "I would also like to thank Etta who helped talk me through everything. I probably would have been clueless as to what to do for everything. So thanks again Etta." | |

| "If anyone has any questions about the performance, I would be more than happy to answer your questions," Cat finished up.
An audience member raised their hand. "Yes miss?" Cat called on her.
"Why didn't you just stick with the vector image instead of overlaying the original image?"
"Well I am big on realism," Cat replied. "Though I love abstract art and all, my mind tends to want a more realistic look to things. Also I didn't think the vector looked right given it looked a bit flat. The overlay of the original image gives it more of a shading and 3D effect. I hope that explains it." Cat chuckled and asked, "Anymore questions?" | |
