Happy Birthday Al! It’s amazing to think your 23 already. Congratulations! I wish I could spending it with you instead of in this stuffy tent, but there’s nothing I can do about it now. When Professor Longbottom gave me this expedition I never imagined I would actually be doing it.

Finding this location was more difficult than I ever imagined. Not being able to travel by broom or apparition also complicated matters. Going by Floo Powder wasn’t exactly ideal, but Louise enjoyed it. Good thing Proff has friends all over the world. That Chinese couple had a really nice toilet. All in all it was about 20 stops in 20 different nations. It took so long because I had to wait for hours in Sri Lanka and they insisted on feeding me the most nauseating food in Slovakia.

Then once I made it to Australia (FINALLY!) I had to apparate with his ancient old warlock who insisted we make special stops along the ocean to see famous muggle sites. I couldn’t refuse. He looked so excited. Well, eventually he dropped me off at a little village about 7 kilometers from here and I had to walk the rest of the way. There were anti-apparation charms over it and all sorts of other enchantments. Luckily, I could levitate my luggage and Louise’s cage.

Once I got to this spot, it wasn’t that hard to set up camp. I had to do a few repairs on the tent. I knew Dad hadn’t touched it in over a decade, if not a century. At least it’s cozy and smells like home, although I don’t know how long that will last.

Tomorrow, the expedition really starts. Do you think it’s going to be difficult to find this Sprout lady? I’ve never heard of her, but evidently she’s a good friend of Proff, and Mum says that she taught at Hogwarts when she and dad were at school. Imagine that!

Well anyway, I should be getting to sleep. It’s getting late and I know that tomorrow’s going to be exhausting, even more than today was. Send everyone my love, and tell Dad I’ll be fine.
