| Since this forum opened just a few hours ago, i'm not going to take some really hard things in this class. First off, i want you to learn the alphabet, since it slightly differs from the english one. I will post the letters here, using sounds in english words to describe how they are pronounced. As for Å, Ä and Ö, we will get to them later. To be precise, at the end of the alphabet, haha.
Aa Is pronounced as the A in the word "far" Bb Is pronounced as the Bee in the word "beer" Cc Is pronounced as the bold letters in the word "serious" Dd Is pronounced as the bold letters in the word "dear" Ee Is pronounced "dear" Ff Is pronounced just as it is in english Gg Is pronounced as the G in the word "great" Hh Is pronounced as " Horn" Ii Is pronounced as "tea" Jj Is pronounced as "Jeep" Kk Is pronounced as "corn" Ll Is pronounced as "sell" Mm Is pronounced as "tremble" Nn Is pronounced as "Enter" Oo Is pronounced as "Cool" Pp Is pronounced as "Period" Qq Is pronounced as "[Cue/b]" Rr Is pronounced as "Terrible" Ss Is pronounced as "Request" Tt Is pronounced as "Tear" Uu Is pronounced as "Sqew" Vv Like Earring with a V, so it would be "vearring" Ww see V. also known as dubbel- V Xx Is just the same as in english Yy Is pronounced as "We" Zz Is pronounced as Säta, which sounds a bit like the word "later"
And now for there letters i know you wonder about.
Åå Is pronounced as "more" Ää Is pronounced as "rare" Öö Is pronounced as "further"
An now, as you've been patient enought to read throught the alphabet (alfabet in swedish), we're going through the digits, called "siffror" or "nummer".
0 = Noll 1 = Ett 2 = Två 3 = Tre 4 = Fyra 5 = Fem 6 = Sex 7 = Sju 8 = Åtta 9 = Nio 10 = Tio
Yes, I am very well aware of that number xD
These were only the basics, and I will bring up more in the next class, which will be more about speaking. If you want me to translate things to show off, I've posted a translation thread here in this forum. Feel free to PM me if there is anything that you do not understand.

| Subject: Swedish conversation thread Fri Apr 28 2006, 05:58 | |
| Ok, so now that you have learned how to pronounce the alphabet, i thought we could start a conversation thread.
The most common greeting in sweden is 'Hej', which is like Hi. You can also use God morgon = Good morning, God dag = Good day or Godkväll = Good evening
The last one isn't really used that often, and 'god dag' is a bit formal.
As for presenting yourself, you say 'Jag heter', which means 'I'm called'. So, for example, I could say "Hej, jag heter Hannah-cecilia".
When telling someone your age, you just simply say how many years you are. 'Jag' means I, and 'är' means am/is/are (the word 'är' never changes, except when switching tenses) As i only went through the numbers 1-10 in the other thread, i'll take the numbers 10-30 here. If you're older than 30 years, just take every tenths (40, 50, 60 etc) and add 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9.
11 =elva 12 = tolv 13 = tretton 14 = fjorton 15 = femton 16 = sexton 17 = sjutton 18 = arton 19 =nitton 20 = tjugo 21 = tjugoett 22 = tjugotvå 23 = tjugotre 24 = tjugofyra 25 =tjugofem 26 = tjugosex 27 = tjugosju 28 = tjugoåtta 29 = tjugonio 30 = trettio
40 = Fyrtio 50 = Femtio 60 = Sextio 70 = Sjuttio 80 = Åttio 90 = Nittio 100 = Hundra

| Pillow, did you use an online translator? Those can be terribly wrong sometimes..
Anyway, i glanced over to the elvish exchange forum, and i saw they had posted the name of days and months, so here they come in swedish!
January - Januari February - Februari March - Mars April - April May - Maj June - Juni July - Juli August - Augusti September - September October - Oktober November - November December - December
As you may notice, the months aren't really that different.
Monday - Måndag Tuesday - Tisdag Wednesday - Onsdag Thursday - Torsdag Friday - Fredag Saturday - Lördag Sunday - Söndag

| ooh, you sound really swedish already, aimes! lmao. If you want to, you can add 'år' after your age. År means years, and if you want to be really correct, you can use 'gammal', too, which means old. (Jag är arton år gammal)
If you want to ask how someone is, you say "hur mår du?" or "hur är det med dig?"
Hur= how Mår = Is feeling/are feeling Du= You
Är = Is/are/am Det = it Med = with Dig = You
To that, there are lots of answers, but for now i'll just teach you a few.
Good = Bra Bad = Dålig/-t Sick = Sjuk Tired = Trött Happy = Glad Angry = Arg, Sur Hyper = Hyperaktiv Proud = Stolt
If you're just going to say good or bad, you put "jag mår" in front of it. If you're using an adjective, you put "jag är" before it. You can use both, for example; Jag mår dåligt, jag är sjuk.
So, aimes, hur mår du idag? (idag means today)
