Historic Triwizard Tournaments

We all know about Harry Potter's experience with the Goblet of Fire, but what about past tournaments? For this assignment I want you to write a detailed account of one such event. Describe the participants, the three tasks, and how each champion dealt with their tasks. Because this will most likely be a long and involved homework, it will be worth up to 100 points. There is no word limit, but in order to get the most points you will want to be as detailed as possible.

Pt 1. (up to 30 pts)

Describe the champions, complete with physical descriptions. To earn all 30 points you will want to give their history, the reasons the cup would have chosen them, how they feel about the tournament and post a picture of them. If you are unable to post a picture of your champions then you will need to give a really detailed description of how they look.

Pt 2. (up to 70 pts)

Now comes the challenges! Harry had to deal with dragons, underwater beasties, and a horror filled maze, what do you champions have to contend with? Remember, in some past tournaments champions have not survived, or became gravely injured. Perhaps one of your champions will meet a grisley end, or maybe your winner will happy and victorius.

Thanks to stephy for this suggestion, she will recieve 10 pts for her idea.

Good luck, and most importantly, good luck to your champions. They're going to need it!

PostSubject: History of Magic homework   Historic Tri-Wizard Tournaments EmptyFri Feb 22 2008, 12:24

One triwizard champion in the year 1600 was a Dumstrang student Helga, she was tall had brown hair, green eyes and looked slightly like a tough trainned Auror. Her left cheek had several scars portuding down, forming a point at the end of her chin, already even though she hadn't yet done a task she had a long cut down the middle of her eye. Helga was a kind natured girl only most people thought different and never spoke to her, her big features made people think her bullying factor was bigger. She was smart but clumsy, she had only been chosen for the tornament because she had once helped her father warn off a mountain troll, that was all the greatness she'd ever done with her life!

Another was a Hogwarts pupil Gartland, he was small and thin as a stick, ginger hair and blue eyes. He was the smallest guy that had ever competed in the tornament, he had been reminded of that every time he had walked around the corner. Gartland was the most hated boy in Hogwarts, he had two friends but even still they fell out with him about twice a week, the only reason people hated him was because he came from a posh backround, he lived the same as every other young wizard boy, he just looked neater and talked correctly thats all... Gartland once said he haden't a clue why he was chosen by the Goblet of fire, his name had been thrown from the cup and thats all he knew, his mother and father told him he must be destined to be brave, they had said that since he was sorted into Gryffindor, it had made no difference then, and that many years on it still didn't make a difference

The last Champion was Emer, a Beauxbatons girl, long and slender. Emer was full Veela, there was no half breed in her, she loathed andybody who was not pureblood. She was a snobbish perfect girl, all the boys liked her, but that was no surprise at all. Emer however did know why she had been chosen for the triwizard champion, she was after all brave and daring everything the Cup wanted in a champion, when she was six she conjured fire from her finger tips, ever since she had fought petty evil, and very well too.

The First task.

The first task lead to a clue for the second task, it was tradition to always leave a clue for the next task. However one of the usual traditions had not been carried out, in that year the Champions haden't a clue what task they would be doing.
The task that year had been to cut through the vines that held a platform when they reached the bottom of the platform they had to propel themselves to the top of the mountous platform, along the way up they would have to fight kill and warn off different magical creatures. Emer and Helga got through this trail just fine, but Gartland broke his arm in two places trying to defend himself from a dementor.

The Second task.

The second task went smoother, the clue was given at the top of the platform in task one, the clue had clearly stated thet they would have to be able to go like the wind.
This was ok for Gartland he was a fair flyer and his arm had healed by then, however Emer and Helga had problems with flying so running or apparating was the only way to get somewhere fast.
As the two girls were only fifth year they couldn't apparate so together they made a plan. The two girls planned to kill off Gartland and then help eachother the rest of the way.
The girls managed to make Gartland ill, ill enough for him to step out from the tornament for good.
The second task went on as planned, all the girls had to do was race down a slope and into the water, the first to catch a shallow water Grindillow and hand it back to the examiner would win the task.
Emer was the first to return but lost points when she handed the examiner a dead grindillow, it turned out she had squeezed it to death, Helga arrived back with a stunned grindilow, and recieved 50 marks for her effort, Emer only got 45.

The Third task.

Emer and Helga had fell out, Helga had trusted her and it was Emers evail plan all along to make Helga feel that way about Gartland. Helga wanted to win then more than ever that was her turning point, Emer was only too happy to go around taking all the glory from Helga.
The third task was less hushed up, the girls had been told by the team leaders what was up next, so all the girls had to do was prepare.
The task wasen't too hard for the girls although they had to put all their skills into the task ahead to win, what they had to do was make a obsical course for each other then the girls would have to switch around and complete eachothers course. The courses could have anything in them, even if the course maker couldn't defeat herself.
Helga was the first to come back she earned 100 points for her course and 50 for her effort in Emers course, Helga waited three hours for Emer to come back out of her course and like most triwizard compitions she never came out.

Historic Tri-Wizard Tournaments Z_huffle hope thats ok!

Historic Triwizard Tournaments

Name: Isabella Alice Clarke

Historic Tri-Wizard Tournaments Photo06kz4

Blood Status: Muggle born (assumed, see “Family”)
Age: 17
Wand: Eleven and a quarter inches, willow, dragon heartstring
School and House: Hogwarts, Ravenclaw

Patronus: Monkey
Boggart: Complete darkness

Family: Her parents, Morgan Clarke and Callie Baker, are both muggles who reside in Cheshire, England. Morgan is a scientist at a local research center and Callie is a real estate agent. Isabella has a younger sister, Heather, who is not a witch, and the chances that she should become one are small. While the Clarkes were surprised that Isabella was a witch, Isabella ended up the more surprised when it was revealed that the Clarkes were not her birth parents and Heather was not her blood sister. However, the family still accepts her, if Heather is sometimes resentful that her sister is so different from the rest of them.

Description: Despite being seventeen years old, Isabella is rather short and is not about to get any taller. She’s about 5’3”, and has long blonde hair which is usually curly, but she has taken to straightening it because she dislikes the “mess” her curls generally form into. Her eyes are large, brown, and are surrounded by thick black lashes. She used to need glasses, but has started using muggle contacts that her parents have bought for her. She has slightly tanned peach skin. She is generally smiling, but if she doesn’t know the people she is with that well the smile is very tentative, as if not sure smiling is okay with the people she is around.

Personality: Isabella is a rather quiet, shy girl, who is very intelligent-hence being sorted into Ravenclaw. She is a bit of a loner, but secretly envies those of the popular circuit and sometimes tries to become involved in it in ways other than doing all of their homework. However, she is tougher than she seems, and is certainly willing to fight back if someone provokes her. She likes reading, but dislikes having to speak in front of people unless she really really knows something. She can retain knowledge almost as soon as she learns it and is very good at picking up spells. Unfortunately, she has the tendency to become flustered under pressure.

Reasons the Cup Chose Her: Isabella’s incredible intelligence is what caused the cup to decide to pick her to be among the Triwizard tournaments. She is also a good fighter, as growing up with a younger sister has taught her a thing or two about versatility in “battle”.

How She Feels About the Tournament: Isabella is very eager to bring honor and glory to her house of Ravenclaw, and that’s generally the reason she gives out. However, the slight popularity gain that she has is also something that makes the Tournament very exciting for her. What she doesn’t like about it is the fact that the entire school will be watching her while she performs each task, as well as the extreme dangerousness of the situation. She has begun reading as many books on defense, charms, and hexes that she can get her hands on, because she would be mortified if she were to fail.

Name: Jennifer Verena Martin

Historic Tri-Wizard Tournaments Amanda

Blood Status: Muggleborn
Age: 18
Wand Twelve and a quarter inches, beechwood, griffin tail hair
School and House: Beauxbatons, Heureux

Patronus: Penguin
Boggart: Spider

Family: The daughter of Serge Martin and Blair Waldgrave of Paris, France, Jennifer, like Isabella, is also of muggle birth. However, her parents are her birth parents. Her parents are both French socialites that are rarely home to see their daughter and son. However, their son, Jennifer’s brother, Eric, is already in college, so Jennifer is generally home with her friends. Her parents weren’t surprised that she was a witch, because Jennifer always had her own little methods of getting her way. They sent her off to Beauxbatons without any qualms, only asking that she behave herself as well as she did at home. Read: Don’t get in trouble, but more importantly, don’t get caught.

Description: Jennifer and Isabella have more in common than parentage. They both have blonde hair, but Jennifer’s is more dirty blonde and wavy. She is also taller than Isabella, at 5’ 9 1’2”. Jennifer has large green eyes, with long eyelashes. After getting her braces off four years ago, her teeth are uncannily perfectly straight and white. She has peach colored skin that has yet to be burned, thanks to her daily application of sunblock charms. Jennifer has an air of high class-ness about her, that sometimes makes people unwilling to approach her. She always seems to know something that you do not.

Personality: Due to her pampered childhood, Jennifer is generally a very happy person. While she is actually quite smart, people tend to think she isn’t, due to the fact that she is incredibly attractive. But, it is true that she does not always try to her full potential. However, when she does work, it’ll take a lot to get her to stop working. Once she attaches herself to a project, she sticks it through until it’s done. She is a bit of a romantic, and longs for true love, not just some sort of puppy-love crush she often gets from her admirers. She can be a little self-centered. Jennifer is curious about life beyond Beauxbatons, parties at her French mansion, and the like. She wants to know who she is, and what she will be, but is a bit nervous about finding out.

Reasons the Cup Chose Her: Jennifer’s hard work is what caused the Cup to choose her. Although she doesn’t always work as hard as she could, she clearly wants to become a champion for her school. She has dedicated herself to this cause, and plans on winning.

How She Feels About the Tournament: While at first she thought the Tournament was a bit dumb, the more she learnt about it, the more she liked it. Jennifer began talking to teachers about ways to improve her spell work and general magic. By the time she put her slip into the Goblet of Fire, her conviction for the Tournament encompassed everything else in her life. Jennifer sometimes is anxious about how the amount of work she has to do will cut into her free time, but gaining the Triwizard Cup at the end makes her have tunnel vision towards that alone.

Hristo Rayno Gavrilov

Historic Tri-Wizard Tournaments 6dbac9cb85cq4

Blood Status: Pureblood
Age: 17 ½
Wand: Twelve inches, cherry wood, kraken heartstring
School and House: Durmstrang, Meearbipkov

Patronus: Puma
Boggart: Being enclosed in a box

Family: Born to Rayno Gavrilov and Olga Bachev, Hristo is an only child who lives with his family in Trigrad. His family has been going to Durmstrang since its creation, and the same was expected of him. His father works in the music business, and even owns his own radio station. His mother was once a well-known soccer player-she loved the game ever since she was little and would play it with her muggleborn best friend, and has passed her athletic abilities onto Hristo, who is very good at soccer and Quidditch. They are a relatively tight-knit family that is built on a lot of trust. They share common goals, which is to keep up the family prestige, something that Hristo has helped by being selected in the Triwizard Tournament.

Personality: Hristo is a very prideful and strong-willed young man, he is pretty much as set on winning the Triwizard Cup as Jennifer. He is incredibly spirited, and filled with a lot of energy that he puts into practicing his magic. His intelligence isn’t as high as Isabella and Jennifer’s. He took charge of the situation by practicing his magic practically daily. He is also over-protective of his magical talents, and will often “take down” whoever insults them. He is however a responsible person, and never crosses the line of hurting someone. He, like Jennifer, is very determined, but somewhat cocky. He doesn’t see two Muggleborn girls as much of a challenge in the Tournament.

Reasons the Cup Chose Him: Hristo’s determination and spellwork caused him to stand out for the cup. Despite his tendency to be prideful, he is generally an honorable young man, who uses his intelligence in somewhat “brute-force” ways that do get the job done. His bravery also sets him apart from others.

Feelings for the Tournament: Hristo sees the tournament as a challenge waiting to be tackled, something that can be easily conquered. He always loved a good challenge, and this challenge has been especially appealing to him as it will bring honor to his family and would add to his “achievements”. He is not afraid at all of what the Tournament throws at him, because he is very confident he will be able to handle it all, and well. However, he does not like how he has to be so far from home to compete in it, and wishes that it could have been held at Durmstrang instead.

Task One: Climb up the nearby Hogwarts Mountain and be the first to reach the top. The Mountain is covered with various monsters, traps, and whatnot. Each champion will travel his or her own path, and if their paths cross, they must beat the champion they encounter in a duel. If a champion loses the duel, they are disqualified. Judges shall be on hand to make sure that no real danger comes to the champions.

Isabella Clarke

During the beginning of the ascent up the mountain, Isabella did rather well. She beat an abominable snowman by casting a large ring of fire around it, and used an Abraxan that had been lent by Madame Maxime for the tournament to fly around a gigantic web that was meant to trap her. By use of the Abraxan, she managed to ascend 1/3 of the mountain. Unfortunately, when dismounting from the horse after it became too tired to continue, she slipped and fell onto a cursed dragon scale that was hidden amongst the rocks. Due to the curse that had been placed upon the rock, she contracted an illness that is not normally fatal, but she had as she had a rare allergy to it, her chances weren’t good at all. She wasn’t found until after the other two had reached the top of the mountain when the judges realized that the Hogwarts champion wasn’t there, and was near death. Thankfully, an Armadillo Antidote was brewed, and she was cured. However, as a side effect of the potion, she was not in her right mind for several days. Luckily, she came out of this in time for the second task. This does damage her confidence greatly, though, and she almost doesn’t continue with the tournament due to the humiliation she feels that she has already embarrassed herself in front of everyone. She received 30 points for getting 1/3 of the way up the mountain, and was in last place.

Jennifer Martin

Jennifer also did very well during the beginning of the climb up the mountain. Although she screamed loudly when she first saw it, she doused a nest of Ashwinders. After conjuring earmuffs she was able to make it past the augureys and due to these magical earmuffs was able to survive a would-be fatal attack by a renegade banshee. She drove the banshee away using a complex Banishing Charm, and it fled to the Forbidden Forest. When she was more than halfway there, she encountered a large snake that was charmed to look like a basilisk. After realizing that glancing at it wouldn’t kill her, she reproduced a rooster crow, and the snake dropped dead. However, she sustained an injury to her shoulder when the shaking created by the snake’s body falling dislodged some rocks from above. Jennifer kept her cool and used a simple healing spell, and was able to continue onwards. She was attacked by a swarm of beetles and sustained even more injuries to her shoulders and upper arms, but cast a bubble head charm around herself so that she was able to breathe without fear of swallowing a beetle, and the journey became easier after that. She was chased by a dangerous bicorn, but crossed the finish line with the help of a speed spell that made her run faster just before it could bite her hand. Jennifer was incredibly happy that she managed to reach the top of the mountain first, and was awarded 90 points with 10 bonus for fending off two dangerous creatures (the banshee and the bicorn) and healing herself on the mountain.

Hristo Gavrilov

Hristo ended up straying onto Isabella’s path just after she battled the abominable snowman. By the time he reached it, the flames had extinguished, and he was unprepared for the attack that broke a few of his ribs. Barely able to speak, he used nonverbal magic to cast another ring of fire around the creature. As he was heading back to his path he found Isabella unconscious in the path. He almost shot a spell on her, thinking that they would have to duel, before understanding that she had been injured already. Not realizing that it was a dragon scale and not another creature that had attacked her, Hristo hurried away from the place and ran right into a swarm of Billywigs. After being stung so many time he levitated into the air, giggling, and knocked the auguery that Jennifer had faced right off of its perch. The bird chased him back down the mountain a ways before he manged to outwit it and “run” back up. The “running” was rather difficult due to the injuries he had sustained from the abominable snowman, and he didn’t know any healing charms. Suddenly, he fell, as the billywig effects had faded, and landed on a diricrawl, which began carrying him to the finish line. He was about 100 yards away from it before the diricrawl bucked him off because a Fwooper began singing nearby. Hristo covered his ears to protect himself from the insanity causing calls, and limped across the finish line. He received 65 points for coming in second. Hristo was the one who told the judges that Isabella was lying unconscious on her pathway.

Task Two: Fly a hippogriff through rings (minimum of 5) made up of various charms and spells and emerge without you and the hippogriff hurt. Each ring cleared gives the champion a clue to be used in the final task.

Isabella Clarke

Having recovered physically, mentally, but not quite emotionally from the previous task, Isabella was reasonably concerned and anxious about the second one. She missed the first ring (which was made of feathers) that she tried to go through, earning her a nip on the thigh from her hippogriff. Isabella pulled herself together and passed through the silver ring, gaining her her first clue-which was written on a scrap of parchment that fell from the ring as she passed through it. An unforeseen event occurred when an owl that was delivering to the castle collided with her hippogriff’s leg, causing it to go into a loop di loop. Isabella clung on as tightly as she dared, and while in loop-di-loop she and the hippogriff passed through the fire hoop. She cast a fireproof charm on the two of them in the nick of time, so that the clue, when she caught it, remained unharmed. After chasing a hoop that was charmed to change direction and position every few seconds, she and her hippogriff finally passed through it, earning her two clues due to the difficulty of the hoop to pass through. Her hippogriff sustained its first injury after she didn’t recognize that a hoop was made of biting fairies, and it was infected with venom, which caused it to fly much slower than it had been. The Task then ended, and she earned 75 points, with marks taken off for injuries to herself and the hippogriff.

Jennifer Martin

Bolstered by her success in the previous Task, Jennifer was given a minute head start to pass through the hoops. She made it through the fire hoop with only a slight singeing of her hippogriff’s feathers, and even managed to find and pass through a two-clue bearing ring of invisibility. She was bitten by the Biting Ring, but kept her hippogriff safe from harm. Jennifer then maneuvered around a ring of water, only to come face to face with a ring of spiders. What she didn’t know was that the ring wasn’t really made of spiders, but was cast with a Boggart charm. However, she swallowed her fear and flew through, earning herself two clue slips. While aiming for a wooden hoop, she brushed up against a poisonous ring, and loses control of her right arm. After waving down the Mediwizards who try to remove her from the hippogriff, she manages to clear another biting ring, without getting bitten, as well as a very foul smelling hoop made of bundimun slime, and one that meowed like a cat when she passed through, startling her hippogriff. She was nearly bucked off, but managed to hang on to one of the wings and pull herself up with her left arm. Unfortunately, just after she had righted herself, her hippogriff passed through a blinding white ring, and she slipped off, plummeting to the ground and breaking the arm that had already been poisoned. Jennifer gained 60 points, with marks taken off for slight injuries to herself and the hippogriff, and for falling before the task was completed.

Hristo Gavrilov

Hristo didn’t exactly start Task Two out well. He nearly lost his head by running into a hoop that had disguised itself as a cloud. Then, he got hit in the stomach by the Chimera Hoop. To make matters worse, the Chizpurfle hoop dropped Chizpurfles onto his hippogriff while he was too busy catching the slip, causing the hippogriff to become very jerky for the rest of the Task. However, he managed to pass through three green hoops in a row, and to hex a ring that tried to bite him as he passed through it. Gaining confidence, he flew through a Pixie Hoop so quickly, the Pixies didn’t even manage to pull him off his mount like they had been charmed to. While a moment of sloppiness did cause his robes to get ripped, he recovered in time to charm himself and his hippogriff with earmuffs to protect them from death during the Banshee Hoop. He managed the Boggart Hoop, which seemed to become smaller and smaller around him, although he did mumble something that sounded like “Mummy”. Hristo also cast a fully corporeal Patronus, because the Dementor Hoop tried to suck out his soul as he passed through. Wary of his previous encounter with a Hoop-Disguised-as-a-Cloud, after casting a “Hoopus Revelio” Charm, he found another invisibility hoop and gained some more clue slips. The Task then ended, and Hristo ended up being the winner with 100 points, as his hippogriff was relatively unharmed, and he had managed to clear the most hoops without incidence.

Task Three: Each of the champions will be put into a room by themselves. The room is filled to the brim with many cups and chalices as well as five basins filled with different potions. The champion must choose the correct cup and correct potion based on the clues given from the previous task. For each wrong potion and/or cup chosen, the room will be filled with water. If the water reaches the ceiling, the champion loses. The first person to pair the correct cup and potion will be able to go through a wall of unbreakable glass that mars the doorway and get to the Cup.

Isabella Clarke

If Isabella was nervous after her performance in Task 1, it was nothing compared to how she felt after doing rather poorly in Tasks 1 AND 2. Because she was last in points value, she was allowed into her room ten minutes after Hristo. She forced herself to relax, and treat this as a test, which she had always done well on. After reading her clues many times, she began to narrow down the cup to two options and the potions to three. The final cup clue she had was the following:

Shiny and sparkles; more than meets the eye
Pick me up, and maybe you won’t die.
.

While this gave her a bit of a sick feeling in her stomach, she looked at the two cups before her as objectively as possible. One was made of marble with purple jewels, and the other was pewter with a dull green shine. After a few moments, Isabella realized that the clue was telling her that there was more that meets the eye than shininess and sparkles, so she ruled out the cup with the purple jewels. Now she had to choose the potion to put into the cup. Her two remaining potions clues were:

I am suitable for drinking, you can really tell
A whiff of magic potion to help you break the spell.
.

Listen to your instincts, follow your heart
The heat you feel inside will set me apart.

The first clue was easier for her to deduce. The potion she wanted had to have a distinct spell. That ruled out a pitch black murky mixture that she was thoroughly glad to not have to drink. Now she had to choose between a red potion that was giving off golden fumes, and a dark blue potion. Absentmindedly, she held the bows that held the potions in her hands. With a surprise, she found that the red potion was warmer than the blue, and realized that the clue meant that the potion was naturally warm. So, apprehensively, she poured the red potion into the pewter cup, and drank. No water began pouring through the walls, so she shakily stood up and walked over to the glass door. Isabella passed through without any issue. On the other side was the Triwizard Cup. She could see two other glass doors that hadn’t been passed through yet, and wondered if maybe…maybe…She walked up to the Cup and grabbed it, and at once there was a great shout as the stone she was standing on raised her up and through the ceiling, which was apparently an illusion. Everyone cheered, and Isabella screamed with joy. She had won!

Jennifer Martin

Jennifer, although upset at losing her lead to Hristo and due to the infection in her arm that made her unable to use it, was still confident in her abilities as she entered the third Task. She entered five minutes after he did, and misinterpreted the clues on her first try. She put a sparkling green potion in a golden cup, and was very surprised when water gushed from the walls to fill up to her ankles. Backtracking furiously, she read the clues once more. Finally, she narrowed it down to one cup-a wooden one that had been painted purple, and five potions. She looked to her three clues, which she had read so wrongly before, and tried again.

Look into my depths, and see what you can
Smile at yourself, victory is close at hand.

Bubble, bubble toil and trouble
The difference in me, I hear, is very subtle

Size isn’t everything, and quantity is the same
Choose wisely, and you’ll have won the game.

The first clue was the one that she had the most trouble with, so she skipped it in favor of the second, which she also was stumped on. But, on the third clue, she had an epiphany. She pushed aside a milk white potion and a silver one, because they were in huge basins. The ones left behind were a reddish-black, blue-green, and lime, but the similarity they shared was they were all in teeny tiny basins. Jennifer went back to the first two clues, and skipped the first one again. Noticing the references to sound in the second clue, she put her ear near the potions to see if she could hear anything. The blue-green one and the lime one made soft hissing noises, and the reddish-black one made no sound at all. The clue meant that the potion she wanted made a noise. Finally, she looked at the first clue once more. While looking down at her potions, she noticed that she could see herself in one of them. Absentmindedly, she put a lock of hair back in place, and wondered if the clue meant the potion she wanted had mirror-like qualities. Sure enough, the lime one allowed her to see herself, but the blue-green didn’t. After waiting a moment, she poured the lime potion into her purple cup, and was able to walk through the door. As she reached the other side, she heard the cheers, and wondered if they were for her. But no, Isabella had managed to get there before. Jennifer simply smiled and applauded, glad that at least a girl had won, since Hristo had doubted them both so much.

Hristo Gavrilov

Hristo, having won the previous Task, was allowed first into his room. He had quite a bit of difficulty with the task, because he didn’t have the intelligence of Isabella or the nerves of Jennifer. His first and second try were both failures, leaving him panicking in knee-deep water. He accidentally dropped the majority of his clues in, destroying them, and was left with only two. However, even in his incredibly agitated state, he narrowed down his potion and cup to two; based on the few clues he had left. For the potion, he had:

I am not a looker, from what you can see
But if you choose correctly, you’ll notice I’m happy.

The potions he had left were both murky, but one was more so than the other. He picked that one, which was a bright green as opposed to a cheerful yellow, believing that the happiness was meant for him, and not the outlook of the potion. As for the cup, he had the following clue:

Metal, crystal, glass, and paint all decorate
Locate homely me, and you won’t have long to wait

The two cups he had to choose from were diamond and tin. Thinking the decorations were what he needed, he poured his yellow potion into the diamond cup and drank it, running quickly towards the glass door, sure he had won. However, the force with which he hit it knocked him out as the water soared to what would have been his waist level. When the charms put up around the room to indicate when life was failing inside it went off, the judges rushed inside in an attempt to save him. However, they were too late, and Hristo drowned, his foolishness having done him in.

THAT was probably too much fun xD

This years tournament was set in Beaubxtons academy in France.

Task One
There is a small woodland on the grounds of Beaubxtons academy and the champions had to search through the woodland until they found a box hidden in the ground. Throughout the woodland their will be animals with clues on them.

Hogwarts Champion, Araminta
Coming from a pure blooded back ground Araminta saw herself of a much higher status than that of the two half bloods she was against. The woodland was knew to her but she was unafraid. Instead of just taking the clues from the animals she ended up stunning them or knocking them unconscious to get the clue. This took up a lot of Araminta’s time. She grew more and more afraid as she continued the search. She was not afraid of the woodland or the animals but of failure. She had to achieve. When she finally got to the box she found that she was the last of the champions to reach there furious at her lack of ability.

Beaubxtons Champion, Ruby
Ruby had always taken pleasure in wandering around the woodland of the academy so she knew each path like the back of her hand. To her this was an extremely good advantage. The animals there were also an advantage to her because she had a way with animals. Her favourite subject being care of magical creatures. When reaching the box she found it extremely hard to figure it out and it was only when she heard distant footsteps that she began to panic and open it. In the end Ruby won and many of the other people thought that it was some kind of fix making some of Ruby’s achievements seem less great.

Durmstrang Champion, Gustav
Gustav had always loved sports so when moving around the woodland he took things at a gentle jog so that he can hurry things up. Care of magical creatures had not always been his best subject so taking the clues from them he did it as quickly as possible. Coming second he was quite pleased with this for his first challenge but hoped he could do better in the next.

In the lead is Ruby then Gustav and finally Araminta.

Task Two
The champions now have to fly dodging many things flying through the air. They will have spells fired at each of them rocks and trees will also be plunged at them. They have to fly and get the second clue from the box.

Hogwarts Champion, Araminta
After not much of a success with the last one Araminta was determined to win this one. Soaring in line with the others she urged her broom to go as quickly as possible she didn’t want to get left behind she wanted to be first. Arrogance quickly sunk into the pure bloods head as she flew onwards. Quickly dodging the spells fired at he she felt confident that she would win this round coming towards the box she missed the trees and the rocks come tumbling down on top of her. Araminta was unconscious for the rest of this task and later have to leave the tournament due to excessive injuries.

Beaubxtons Champion, Ruby
Ruby had not always been great with brooms and began to panic when Araminta and Gustav were soaring ahead of her. She flew at a steady pace but worried that she would come last with being in the lead she wanted to keep it that way. Dodging the spells she concentrated on finishing it. It had sounded quite dangerous when she had heard about it. As she flew towards the end her stomach sunk as saw that a fellow champion had fallen taking her clue from the box.

Durmstrang Champion, Gustav
Gustav was pleased when he heard about this playing quidditch he was a confident flying though his position was beater and not a position that really required someone to dodge many things. As Araminta began to speed in front of him he knew in the back of his mind that something would happen. He tried to keep at a speed that was fast but safe. Flying not far behind Araminta he watched as each time she was almost hit. His mind blanking completely. As he watched Araminta get hit by the tree and rocks he hesitated wondering if he should fly down to help her but his urge for winning over powered that.

Araminta is now gone and Gustav and Ruby are neck and neck meaning that this last task will decide the winner.

Task Three
The hall of silence. In Beaubxtons academy there has been a room where dangerous animals will be triggered of by sound. The champion must get across the other side of this room without casting a spell out loud, they must be quite on their feet. There is also smaller tasks in the way such as puzzles.

Beaubxtons Champion, Ruby
Being a 5th year Ruby had only just begun to learn silence spells so she was quite worried about this when she entered the room. Trying not to look at her opponent as she moved forward Ruby concentrated on clearing her mind. This was it. Getting past the first set of animals she moved forwards to the stream like thing running across the room stepping into it a small splashing sound was heard by the animals they began to charge at her. Looking to he side she saw Gustav flying in the air. Why hadn’t she thought of that giving up she began to run towards the end of the room getting pwned by the creatures.

Durmstrang Champion, Gustav
Silence, that was what he had to achieve. Walking forwards slowly it began to enter his thoughts how much simpler it would be if he could fly. Smiling despite his current circumstances Gustav summoned his broom to him. Taking flight on it he began to fly past by the amount of time it had taken him to think of the idea of flying and getting his broom Ruby was already ¾ of the way there. Urging his broom forward he watched as the blonde haired girl began to get chased down. Running like a manic it became a race but the creatures saw to his opponent as all of them charged for her.

Gustav won the tournament.

Part One
Pt 1. (up to 30 pts)

During the first Triwizard Tournament the three participants were Heather Grandbole, Mark Fancile and Stacey Handy.

Heather Grandbole was raised by her wizard parents but lived in a muggle community and made many muggle friends. She had learned many things about muggles and their strange contraptions hanging out with her frinds but once she had received her Hogwarts letter she had to lie to her friends and tell them that she was going to a different school then them. Once she got to Hogwarts she excelled in all of her classes and was placed in Ravenclaw house. At the age of thirteen she heard about the Triwizard Tournament and quickly placed her name in the goblet making her one of the contestants. Heather has long blond hair that fall down to the middle of her back. She has an oval face and wears very little makeup. She has very blue eyes and high cheek bones. She is very skinny for her age and is average height.

Mark Fancile was raised somewhere in Russia and him and his family loved to hunt. They spent most of their time tracking the abominable snowman and was successful. Mark found him at the age of ten when he was hunting elk and instantly became famous for him. Mark then spent most of his time hunting for the rest of the abominable family until he was accepted into Drumstrange. Once he got to school there he spent most of his time beating up other students and being feared by all. Once he heard about the Triwizard Tournament he signed up and forbiddened anyone for signing up too which made it so that he was the one chosen for his school. Mark has short black hair and black eyes. He has a round fat face and dimples. He looks as if he could be a body builder form his giant muscles that protrude from his arms.

Stacey Handy born much closer to the equator than the other two participants. She was raised to focus more on her looks than books and school. Once she was accepted to Beauxbatons she spent most of her time with the Headmaster who also believed that looks matter more than her grades and thanks to their friendship the headmaster made it so that none of the teachers there could not fail her. Once the tournament started the headmaster made Stacey enter it. The headmaster first thought that it was a beauty contest but soon found out that she was wrong. She then tired to get someone else to enter their name but none of her other students would because they were afraid that they might end up dying in it so they refused to enter leaving Stacey as the only one to submit her name. Stacey is a very pretty person whom many are jaealous of her. She has the bluest eyes and a round face that looks as if it is flawless. She has long shinny, super blond hair that runs down to her lower back.

Part two
The first assignment was to get past many muggles animals. A few of these animals was an alligator, a skunk and a porcupine. Heather was able to get through them all. She was raised in a muggle community so she knew what to expect. Mark tried to scare away the skunk but instead was sprayed and startled by this he started to run around in circle until he stepped on the porcupine who ended up placing many quills into his leg. Stacey was alright til she saw the alligator. She walked up to it and decided to pet him but instead the alligator ripped off her arm. Luckily there was some healers nearby to quickly grow back her arm.

The second task was to solve a riddle that would tell them what to expect for the third task. Here is the riddle:

Open your eyes and see black
The dark is where it dwells
The light there is a lack.
It prefers places like wells
Where there it is damp
But if you touch this predator
Make sure you have a lamp
Or you may be no more

In the third task they had to get past the Devil Snare. If they were able to solve the riddle then they would know how to get past it. Each of them were able to solve the riddle and prepare according to how they thought they would get past it. Heather just used her wand and when she had to face the plant all she did was set it on fire and then put out the flames and saw that the plant was dead and she was able to get past it to find the cup that was in the middle of this plant. Mark tried to carry a can that had an ever burning flame inside of it. The plant was able to knock the light out of his hand and then it started to strangle him. Mark thought that he was going to be able to fight his way out but would have been killed if he was rescued in time. Even though Stacey was able to solve the riddle she wasn’t able to figure out how to get past the plant and the moment she was brought to the plant she said that she was going to try to get through the Devil Snare and forfeited the game. Making it so that Heather won.

(I hope I made the deadline, if not, soz. ><)

Part I

Describe the champions, complete with physical descriptions. Give their history, the reasons the cup would have chosen them, how they feel about the tournament and post a picture of them.
~If you are unable to post a picture of your champions then you will need to give a really detailed description of how they look.

In 1503 Durmstrang hosted the TriWizard Tournament. From the twenty students that Hogwarts and Beauxbatons brought respectively, and the students from Durmstrang that placed their names in the Goblet of Fire, two boys and a girl were chosen. From Hogwarts it was a sixth year whose name was Edward Cole. The Beauxbatons champion was a seventh year, D’Arcy Vallois. And from Durmstrang, for the first time in twenty years, a female was chosen, a fifth year by the name of Veronika Pavlina.

Edward Cole was born of Mr and Mrs Cole, two lowly Muggle farmers. He was the fourth son, and last child of six. At eleven he received his Hogwarts letter, much to the astonishment and consternation of his pious parents. One of the professors from the school, the then Head of Ravenclaw House and current Potions Professor, came to Edward’s home, and taught him all about the Wizarding World. Fascinated by this new world, presented with the chance to have an education, to be something he never expected (never hoped) he could be, Edward left his life behind without a second thought, returning only once a year between school terms in Summer.

A courageous child, but clever and absorbed in learning, he was placed in Ravenclaw. His skills with magic were impressive, and his aptitude for every subject astounding. All the teachers were impressed with him, and the students awed.

Naturally, with his magical prowess, he was chosen to accompany the Headmaster to the tournament, and delighted that he was the Champion for his School.

His brave nature, magical status (being very distinct and strong), and knowledge set him above the others from his school who placed their names in the Goblet of Fire. The Goblet sensed his need to prove, to show that though he was born from a socially lower order, he was still a very capable Wizard.

Of course, he was honored. He felt that this was the making of him – a chance to prove himself to all those who were prejudiced against him for being a Muggle-born, as the Goblet had sensed, and felt a great deal of pride. He would approach the competition with logic, and brains.

Edward was tall for his age, 6 ft. He had straw-coloured hair, darker underneath. His eyes were a blue/green colour. Cerulean at times, aqua at others. He was tanned from his time on the farm, with moderate muscle tone, and had a scar on his left calf from a scythe incident when he was eight. His fingers were always stained with ink.

D’Arcy is upper-class. Born of two pureblood parents, with heritage and money, and having no siblings, he had the best education and upbringing that any parent could wish for their child. As such, he entered into school arrogant, conceited and self-assured, taking everything for granted.

It came as no surprise to him that he was chosen to be part of the delegation for the Triwizard Tournament – it was to be expected. And, when his name came from the Goblet of Fire, he had already stood to accept applause.

With moderate magical strength, a lot of agility and quick thinking, D’Arcy was the best duelist in his school. He knew a lot of obscure spells, hexes and jinxes from his extensive reading – reading he had to do as a child, and now resented – and the Goblet picked him, because it sensed that he had a lot to learn. Through the Tournament, he would grow.

D’Arcy was smug, and under his misapprehension that the Goblet chose him because he had greater power and skill than the others from his school, gloated and held himself above others in the wake of his being chosen the Champion.

A just above average height of 5 ft. 6 in., D’Arcy was slim, fit and attractive. He had dark hair, warm brown eyes, and pale skin. His smile was charming, disarmingly so, and he found out early in life that good looks and charm were key to manipulation and gain. He was in the Beauxbatons equivalent of Slytherin House.

Veronika’s parents were humble people, her father was a wood gatherer for the local wandmaker, and her mother a squib who worked as a maid in the large Muggle mansion in a nearby town, close to where they lived. She was not the only child her parents had, the third and last, but she was the only one to survive past her fourth year. She was therefore cherished and loved as much as possible, and Veronika loved them back. Proud beyond words when she was accepted into Durmstrang, her parents worked hard so that she could attend school with all the equipment she needed.

Thankful to her parents, Veronika did her best in school and worked very hard to be the best she could. Her parents never had the chances she had, being less magically talented, and she was determined that they should be happy in their senior years, and proud of her in everything.

Intelligent, magically strong, and resourceful, Veronika was chosen by the Goblet because she was the most competent, even though only fifteen, the most capable, and the most determined. The Goblet knew that she had the drive to succeed.

Moved to tears, Veronika was astounded that she was chosen as Durmstrang Champion. She knew that few females were chosen, so to be so special meant a lot to her – she knew that she was as good as any of the boys. Her being chosen gave her a boost of confidence in herself, and a new determination set in her mind. She would win, because she wanted to. She could do it, and she wouldn’t back down.

Not at all tall, but fast and athletic, Veronika stood at 5 ft. 1 in. She had raven black hair, hazel eyes and olive skin that turned pale in winter. A petite face, she had pretty features, and an appealing figure. On her right shoulder blade she had a birth mark, the only thing to mar her otherwise unblemished skin, in the shape of a griffin. She was in the Durmstrang equivalent of Gryffindor.

Part II

What do your champions have to contend with?

Task One – the Champions had to hunt. This challenge happened at night, when their prey, owls, were most active. However, these owls were specifically bred for elusiveness, and therefore it took skill and technique to find the owl the Champions needed.

Several owls were let loose in a controlled section of forest near Durmstrang. Shields were erected around the area the Champions had to work in, and they had a limit of four hours to complete the Task.

Three owls had letters tied to their leg, and each letter held the clue to the next Task.

The danger of the Task was that though they were searching for owls, there were other animals and beasts in the forest. These posed a threat, and so did nature. If they could not see where they were going, or made too much noise, they would startle an owl to flight, or attract unwanted attention.

Edward was the first to catch an owl with a letter. While his inexperience in the wild hampered him at first, his experience with animals soon helped him in coaxing the owl down to him, trapping it with spells at the same time. He completed the Task in two hours.

Veronika was second. She completed the Task in three and a half hours. In the early hours of the Task, she learnt what not to do, spooking several owls into flight and mistaking shadows for something else. However, once she learnt to control her senses, she was able to cast a spell that netted her owl to its hiding place, and snatched her clue.

D’Arcy floundered for most of the task, and consequently finished last. He was unused to the forest, and doing things in such an ‘uncouth’ manner. As a last resort, with only twenty minutes left of the task, D’Arcy managed to finally capture his owl using a number of charms and illusions. He finished three minutes over the time limit, and had ten points deducted.

Edward finished with fifty points, Veronika forty, and D’Arcy twenty-five.

Task Two – The clue was: “Trapped in a darkened chamber, you cannot run, you cannot hide, use what you have to break all asunder, or within the twelfth hour, cold will be your grave.”

This alluded to the nature of the Task – confined, cold, dark, and encompassing.

The Champions were put under a sleeping spell and placed within specially created blocks of rock and ice created from the frozen glaciers and tundra of the earth.

When they woke up the Champions were in the dark of their small caves of ice and rock. It was below freezing temperature, and the ice was fortified with spells and enchantments – wards – that prevented the Champion from simply blasting the thing to pieces or melting it with magic. They had to pull the spells apart, or failing that, find a weakness and exploit it.

They had a twelve hour limit, before they were rescued from the ice by an official.

Veronika completed the Task first, in four hours. She was not claustrophobic, or afraid of the absolute darkness that she had been encased in. With a level head, she felt the nature of the magic, and casting counter-spells on particular parts of the wards, was able to collapse it on one section, and melted the ice to worm her way out.

Edward and D’Arcy tied for second, both emerging from their prison in nine hours, a few minutes apart. Edward had dissembled each ward and spell separately, one by one. An arduous task to undertake, it depleted his energy quickly, causing him to take twice as long as it would for an expert. He fell asleep twice.

D’Arcy, unaccustomed to waking up in unfamiliar, dark, cold places, took an hour to calm down enough to take stock of what he should have been doing. He manipulated the wards, casting the spells it wanted cast, and following its guidelines until he managed to weaken them into complacency, and blasted his way out. Having blasted the ice however, shards flew in every direction, and one caught him in the brow. He would have a scar, and take several days to recuperate, but no further damage was done.

Veronika was now in first place, with one hundred points, Edward in second with eighty, and D’Arcy in third with fifty-five.

Task Three – The Task consisted of the Champions testing their brawn against an unknown foe. The Champions were bound with magical ropes, but not warded as with the second task, and the confinement was limited to only around their ankles and wrists.

The second stage of the Task was the Champions fighting several different elements at once – an animal, a creature, a spell, and nature – the winner was determined by the first Champion to best each challenge, and reach the podium in the center of the large arena first. Previous points determined the starting point for each Champion – the second place Champion could not begin to work at his ropes until a time limit had been reached, no matter what happened around him in the meantime.

Once the Champions were tied, they were given their wands. Each was placed in a separated section of the arena, blocked from the others by a stone labyrinth. As the Champions began to attack their ropes, fire erupted around them in a circle. They could not put the fire out, however, without having released themselves from the ropes first. The Task was designed so that the Champion could not advance to the next challenge without having finished the previous one first. Therefore, they had to undo the ropes before they could extinguish the fire, and so the challenges continued on in this style. They ranged from spells that distracted them, animals that threatened them, Boggles, barriers, archaic locks, et cetera.

Each Champion found some elements more daunting than the rest – and each advanced steadily until Edward found something that he could not overcome.

While he was threatened by a vicious Muggle beast – a leopard, bred in Magical captivity to be immune against most spells – the ground he stood on began to quake. Realising that two challenges were overlapping, forcing him to focus on two things rather than one, he panicked, and as he tried to cast spells to halt the process of the earth’s crumbling beneath his feet, which didn’t work because he was still on the previous challenge, he lost concentration on the leopard, and it pounced on him. Its claws dug into the flesh of his neck, and before he could scream, it had ripped a large, bloody gash, through his throat. He died of blood loss moments later.

The progress of his Task halted, and the leopard was caged and sent away. Edward was the first casualty of the 1503 tournament.

When D’Arcy and Veronika reached the Podium – Veronika first, with a few bloodied gashes across her thigh and a nasty cut on the back of her head, D’Arcy second with sightless eyes and a severely burnt arm – they were shocked to find that there would be no third Champion joining them.

Veronika won, but the knowledge that it may have been at the cost of another’s life never left her. Her victory was hard won. D’Arcy, similarly, was left changed and guilty. Though his eyesight never returned to him, and the scars did not fade, he understood that he was the lucky one, and was thankful.

A side note: Brought together by the tragic end of their co-Champion, Veronika and D’Arcy fell in love and remained together for the rest of their lives, much to the joy of Veronika’s parents and the chagrin of D’Arcy’s.
