Welcome to the maze, Elana!

You find yourself at the beginning of a huge maze composed of gigantic green hedges. Using your knowledge of spells, especially Charms, you must find a way out of this maze. Numerous obstacles will be presented to you and they need to be passed in order for you to move on through the maze. Tall leafy walls rise up on both sides of you. The sun shines brightly and there's nothing in sight... at the moment. Step into the maze and begin this adventure. Remember to role-play your actions, show your knowledge of spells and charms, and to be creative. Your first obstacle will follow your first post.

What a beautiful day for her Charms adventure! As apprehensive as she was about entering The Maze, Elana couldn't help but notice the brightness of the sun shining down onto her. She had been stalling, chatting about this and that with her professor, trying to avoid looking at the maze, but had run out of things to talk about. And so, digging her wand out of her pocket, she said, "Well, thanks for listening, Junebug. Wish me luck!"

She gulped and took a few steps forward, then turned to wave before sprinting inside just to get it over with. In moments the sunlight she had admired had become dappled due to the leafy walls that made up the maze. Passing a few branching off paths, Elana decided to just stick to the main path for now. It began to narrow, and she looked back the way she had come as if for direction, but it had disappeared from view. She knew she hadn't gone that far for it to have vanished because of distance, so it must have closed up behind her...With that cheerful thought in mind, Elana lit up her wand and continued down the passageway as it continued to grow even more narrow. Maybe it would be a good idea to take one of the off shoots sometime soon...

A light mist begins to form around Elana. As it slowly begins to solidify, the mist spins slowly around the Ravenclaw, gradually picking up speed. As it spins faster and faster, the solidifying mist completes its solidifying process to form a circling cylinder of ice.

As the mist appeared, Elana took little notice. It was just a little mist - maybe it was going to rain soon or something. But as it became apparent that it was intent on capturing her, she began to pay attention. It had turned cold, and was spinning her around like a top. Not liking the chill or dizzyness, Elana speed-thought, digging in the files of her memory for a spell that would get her out of this. Of course, she thought, mentally smacking her forehead as she wasn't able to do that with the wind. Why she hadn't thought to do this in the beginning, she didn't know. "فقاعة الحمايه (protective bubble)!" she cried, and relaxed visibly as the invisible but impenetrable bubble-like shield formed around her. That did nothing, however, to dissuade the spinning or the chill, but it helped that it wasn't against her skin.

And now to stop that god-awful spinning! "لا يزالون (be still)," she said, wand pointed out in front of her where the spell would hit the misty wall. The sudden halt left Elana in mid-spin, where she teetered on unsteady school uniform black-shoed feet. She laid a hand on the leafy wall of one side of the path, pausing to regain her balance. Once it felt like she had just gotten off of a Tilt-A-Whirl, she went back to spellwork, knowing she'd be fine. Shivering, she thought something to get rid of the cold would be a step. "دفء (warmth)," she muttered simply, and out of her wand came the most wonderful rush of warm air. Warming namely her hands, she frowned at the mist that still surrounded her.

That wouldn't do.

She pulled a pair of knit blue gloves from a pocket in her robe and stopped the warming spell. "ان ذهبت (be gone)," she said forcefully, but the simplicity of it wasn't quite enough. Elana walked as she thought, the pesky mist following her every move. Turning onto one of the side lanes, another udea hit her. The mist needed something to surround - surely it would settle for something other than her. She dug in the deep pockets of her long black school robe, hoping there would be something in there to use. Pulling out her hands and seeing that all they had found was lint, she took out her wand. She had never been too good at conjuring, but why not?

"سلطانيه من زهور البتونيا (bowl of petunias)," she said, holding back a laugh as she thought of the poor petunias featured in The HitchHiker's Guide, and seeing that these wouldn't be in any better shape. She waved her wand through the mist, chanting, "تحيط زهور البتونيا (surround the petunias)." They seemed willing enough to oblidge, and the mist cleared around her, settling in around the petunias. Gleefully Elana sprinted away down the path, not hearing the wind begin to pick up around the petunias and begining to spin...
