| Doctor Who
Of course this is going to be first on the list! I love love love the new reincarnation of Doctor Who, there’s so much about it that’s great. ‘New Who’ will be starting its fourth series this Easter, and despite the fact that Catherine Tate (not a fan!) will be starring as the Doctor’s companion, I’m very much looking forward to it, as Rose will be back, along with Jack and Martha.
There’s loads of great stories in the first three series, the best in my opinion are those written by Stephen Moffat – The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances from series one, The Girl in the Fireplace from series two, and Blink, from series three. He’s got a two-parter coming up in series four, so that should be good.
Torchwood
Torchwood is the ‘post-watershed’ spin-off from Doctor Who, featuring Captain Jack Harkness, played by John Barrowman. Torchwood is currently airing its second series.
Torchwood is so bad it’s good! But in all seriousness, this is a good series if at times a little silly.
Skins
Skins first aired on E4 in the UK last year, and I didn’t watch it, but my sister got the box set for Christmas, and we watched the whole series. It’s a great, very gritty series about teenagers in Bristol and all the problems they face.
People have said that Skins isn’t realistic, and to be honest it’s not a reflection of reality, but do you really want that in a TV show? Definitely watch this!
The IT Crowd
Series one of The IT Crowd is the funniest thing I’ve seen in ages. This is an absolutely hilarious sitcom about two IT technicians and their boss, and the situations they get themselves into.
The humour is very stupid, very silly, and it pokes fun at the various quirks and stereotypes of IT techs. One character is your typical computer geek, with the greasy hair and slogan t-shirt, whilst the other is a very socially-inept guy, who’s just so funny. Their boss is clueless about IT, but has to try and get by.
I’ve yet to watch series two, but I have it on DVD, and I’m sure it’ll be just as funny. Seriously hilarious.
Primeval
The first series of this ITV drama aired around this time last year, and the second series is currently airing at the moment. The plot revolves around ‘anomalies’ in time and space, which connect the present with the prehistoric past. And what comes through these anomalies…you guessed it, dinosaurs and other scary beasties.
This is ITV’s answer to Doctor Who and Torchwood; at times the Primeval team emulate the Torchwood team (minus all the innuendo – this is pre-watershed after all), with a hi-tech car and base (in the second series at least).
So far the second series is holding up to the first, and I’d recommend this if you do like Doctor Who. It doesn’t quite have the same character as DW, but the characters are fun and the plots exciting.
Heroes
I’m sure most people have watched Heroes, but if not – why?? Heroes is a series about a group of ordinary people with extraordinary powers, who have to try and stop a bomb going off in New York city.
It’s a great programme, with lots of suspenseful moments and you’ll want to watch episode after episode. Though a lot of people didn’t, I thought the cut down series two was great as well. But the first series is a definite must-see.
Prison Break
I’ve yet to watch series three, but the first and second series of this drama are great. Series one is about – you guessed it – breaking out of prison. I was sceptical before watching – what could be so good about criminals trying to escape a prison, and how can you fill 23 episodes with it?
But I was wrong, because Prison Break is a roller coaster ride from start to finish, and very addictive. Like Heroes, you’ll want to watch episode after episode, and despite the fact that some of the characters are convicted criminals; you’ll still be rooting for them to escape. | |

| Recommended Viewing of March 2008 from little ol me!
1. Torchwood Yes its back and onto series two, though series one is repeating in the UK. Im not sure of when it is on over the world but you can catch it on numerous tv sites.
The spin-off from the great Dr Who, though you dont need to be into Dr Who to watch this as it can be a stand alone.
2. Fresh Prince of Bel-air! Yes, a very old series featuring Will Smith before he was tremendously famous, though as I have been rewatching it recently it has to come on the list as it is so funny and brilliant. If you have never seen it - you must! And if you used to watch it then Im sure you can either catch it on digital tv or the internet!
3. Charmed Yes, its been run and rerun so many times and I know a whole range of you watch it, and its probably my billionth time at watching it again on Living Tv but I have to list it for those who have never seen it *gasp*.
A brilliant story following three witches...its a must!
4. Dr Who Would have listed this first but as its not on at this precise moment then I thought I would leave it until now, though saying that, seasons 1-3 are all repeated and also online and season 4 is coming out very soon (unfortunately with Catherine Tate) but David Tennant lovers will be pleased to know that he hasnt gone anywhere!
If you have never seen this then where have you been??!!
5. Supernatural Im not sure what season Im watching at the moment as I didnt follow this from the beginning but soon got into it. If you like supernatural programmes then this is a must for you. Again, Im sure it will be on catch up on the internet somewhere!
