| Hogwarts is planning its annual field trip to Luxor, Egypt, and it's lucky that you've been chosen as one of the few students who is to go! So, what are you planning to pack?
You are all permitted 1 bag, which should be backpack size. Your bag may have magical properties, but be sure to put all of your bags capabilities in this assignment, so that the professor is aware of every contingency! For this assignment I want you to write a paper, at least 100 words, on what items you are bringing. Wand and clothing are items already assumed, so don't worry about describing them (unless it's particularly significant in some way). (20 points!) I also want included one destination in Luxor Egypt, or close by, that is of particular interest to you and/or an activity in Egypt that you think would go along with our Potions class. This should be a minimum of 200 words. (30 points!) Bonus Part 1: post a picture (either off the internet or one you've made) of your bag. (10 points!) Bonus Part 2: post a picture of your destination stop - either of where you want to go or what activity you think we might enjoy there. (10 points!) This class will be worth up to 70 points!Do NOT copy other students' work, and cite all sources used! Remember to pay attention to grammar and spelling as well as originality and presentation - it counts! Good luck and enjoy!

| My Bag On this field trip, I will be bringing a normal LeSportSac shoulder/duffle bag. I have performed a simple undetectable extension charm on my bag, so that I can carry many more things than usual! In my bag, I have brought things like: a camera + memory cards, some books to read if I get bored, my Potions book, a credit card, and a journal program on my PDA so that I can keep track of all the things we do! I would like to go to The Temple of Luxor, but I do not know of any significance to Potions other than the ointments other substances the might use for torture, medical, spiritual things. My duffle bag is very bright and colorful, with cute shapes and character designs on it. It is very cheerful because all of the characters on it smile, and of course because of the BRIGHT COLORS!!! I always bring some potions ingredients with me, so I will have to make sure that they are sealed up properly, so they will not leak on my bag and all the things inside. I really like candy, so I will be bringing a lot of it with me on the trip (good thing for that extension charm!), and I mean ALOT! Like 50 pounds of that expensive Ferrero Rocher® hazelnut chocolate! It’s so rich, but I love it so much that I know I will be able to eat it on the trip! I love to read, so I will be bringing some new books with me, by authors like Stephenie Meyer (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, and Midnight Sun) and other authors like her. I can fit so many things into my bag, but I just don’t know what else to bring! I know! I’ll bring my Firebolt, my broomstick cleaning kit, and some other random things that I will never be able to use. Or will I? You never know. I mean, my bag is like me, mysterious and extremely special. I mean, you can’t beat bright colors and pink animals! I love my bag, but it can hold so much stuff. I will probably also bring my sketch book, so that I can draw some of the things I see. And my laptop with an internet card, so that I can check up on my HE classes! I would die if I couldn’t get online, I know because I almost did just the other day! Anyways, my bag is able to hold an unknown amount of whatever I would like to bring, so I know what I am bringing is not even close to what it is able to hold. So I guess the main stuff I will be bringing falls into these categories: food, electronic equipment/stuff/whatever, books, flying stuff, artsy things, fun items from school, and last but certainly not least: my bag! Not to mention my wand and some clothes, but it’s obvious that I would bring those! -Amane Misa

| Backpack
My bag is a messenger bag that is bewitched to hold more than one would assume just by looking at it. Inside of it there is a compass, tent and a pan. This compass is not like a muggle one but somewhat like the one Captain Jack Sparrow had with him. It points to the destination that you seek inside of what you desire like Jack’s does and with this I will not get lost. The tent has a spell on it that once you throw it onto the ground it is automatically assemble itself. This way I would not have to bother with trying to put it together and will be able to worry about other things. Once you are done using it all you got to do is poke it with your wand and it will roll back up into a ball about the side of your fist. The tent is also bewitched to hold more than what it looks capable of holding. The pan has a spell placed on it so that if you were to place uncooked food on it the pan would cause the food to instantly become cooked into a delicious entre for all to enjoy, great for those who aren’t that handy with cooking spells.
Nile River The Nile River would be a great place to go. For many years there have been people living near this river and depend on it for their survival. The muggles are not able to take out their wands and say “Aqaumenti” and have water appear. Instead they have to rely on the river. This river might have some animals and if there are animals there we might be able to use their hair, scales or anything else like that in our potions. Also if we needed any water we could use the river if we didn’t want to use the spell. It would be a lot of fun to go and check out the Nile River. | |
