| I have, through learning about it in school, earned a heart-start certificate for first aid, so I will give this a shot.
1. I must remain calm in order to be perfectly confident.I will check for dangers. Then,I would check response by shaking the child gently and calling there name.If they don't come round, I would then check if the child is breathing by listening for breathe or checking to see is the chest rising and falling. If the child is breathing, I would check if they have anything in there mouth by tilting the head back and lifting the chin and opening the mouth to see if there is anything there. If they are wearing glasses I would take them off, and then put them in the recovery position and put a coat or blanket around them to keep them warm. I would go and get help after.
2. Check for Danger. If an old man were suffering from a nose bleed, I would ask him to tilt his head back while I pinched th top of his nose with a tissue. Tell him to breath through his mouth. This should stop the bleeding.
3. First, I would check for danger. Then, I would elivate the leg (using a pillow or something like that) so that is above the heart. Then, I would use a cloth and put pressure on the wound. If the bleeding doesn't stop, I should call an ambulance from my mobile. Then, I would continue to put pressure on the wound till the ambulance comes.
4. First, I would check for danger. I would then get my friend into a comfortable position, BUT WOULD NOT MOVE THEIR LEG! Then, I would shout for help. If no help comes, I would immediately use my mobile to call an ambulance. I need to keep her lag steady using something straight and an item of clothing eg a jacket. Then, I would keep my friend warm till the ambulance comes.
5. First, I need to check for dangers. I would get my mother to keep her hand still, and since she is a nurse, she has special steralized tweezers, but if she didn't, I would have to use hot water to steralize them. The I would get the tweezes and a cotton bud and press on the wound while using the tweezers to get the glass out. Once it is out, I would dampen another cotton bud and put pressure on the wound to stop to bleeding. I would then bandage up her hand with the bandages she carries.
6. First, I would check for dangers. In this case, I would immediatly get him to put his hand into cold water. Then, I would use alovera (rub it on the burn) as this cools it and eases the pain. Then, I would take him to get his hand checked by the docter.
7. First, I would encourage the child to cough. If they cannot cough, then I must preform abdominal thrusts. I stand behind the child and wrap my arms around the child so my hands are above their stomach, and I clench my right hand into a fish and hold it in my left. I pull my hands inwards and upwards. I should continue to do this until the airway is clear and the child can breathe.
8. First, as in the above, I would encourage the adult to cough. If they cannot cough, I will need to preform the Heimlich maneuver, also know as abdominal thrusts. I wrap my arms around the victim so my hands are above their stomach, and again, I clench my right fist and hold it in my left hand. I give my hands a sharp pull inwards and upwards. I do this five times, then give them five back blows between the shoulder blades. I althernate between 5 back blows and 5 abdominal thrusts till the airway is clear and the adult can breathe.
9. I would first check for danger. Then, I will check for signs of a broken neck. If there are none, I would immediately phone for an ambulance on my mobile. Then, I would use a jacket or scarf to put pressure on the wound and also put a coat over the woman to keep her warm. I would continue to reassure her that help is on the way and that she will be OK. I will try to keep her calm.
10. I must first check for dangers. Then, I need to get the wire out of the way. I will use a bit of wood or some other material that is not a conductor to get the wire away from her. I then need to check for breathing by looking for signs of chest movement and opening the airway by tilting the head back and lifting the chin.If there is none, I must look for circulation. If there are no signs, I will immediately phone for an ambulance on my mobile, then start CPR. I will lift the girls top andguild two fingers along to find the breast bone. When I find it, I wil put one hand, palm down on it and then lace the fingers of the other hand into the fingers of the hand on the breast bone. I would then have to do chest compressions, 15 to be precise. Then, I will give 5 rescue breathes by pinching her nose and breathing into their mouth. I would althernate between 15 chest compressions and 5 rescue breathes until the ambulance arrives to revive her.
Well, Thats it. I hope you found that I am quite knowledgeable of first aid. Thank-you for your time. LucyXX

| 1. A small child has fainted Walk over to them and call their name while shking them gentaly. Make sure they are breathing and splash some cold water on their face.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed Tilt his head back and pass him a tissue. Tell him to pinch nose with the tissue to stop the breathing. And tel him to remember to breathe through his mouth!
3. A young girl has fallen a cut her leg badly with lots of blood Get a piece of material and tie it tightly on the leg above the cut to slow the bloodflow and bleeding. Wash cut with water and then bandage. untie the first bit of material and raise the leg. Tell her to relax.
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg Tell her not to move the leg. Call an ambulence or parent and get her to a hospital. If any walking is needed she can use me as a crutch.
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut. Wash the wound and call someone to drive her to the hospital so they can get the glass out (I am dangerous with tweezers!)
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly First, put the burn under running cold water. Put this random burn lotion my mother owns for times such as this on the burn and then take him to a hospital.
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple Tell the child to cough. Repeat until they cough it out. If this doesnt work, grab them around the back and perform abdominal thrusts.
8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone Repeat above!
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head. Attempt to stem the bleeding. Call an ambulence. Keep her concious whilst waiting for the ambulence.
10. A girl has just had an electric shoc from a bare wire Grab a stick and move the wire away. Gentaly shake her and call her name. If no response begin mouth to mouth resusitation.

| 1. A small child has fainted You have to be wary if a child faints. It may be one of two things, one a simple faint or two something called sycope which can lead to death. If this is not the first time you may need to seek medical help. To cover the simple act of fainting though check the airways of the child and put them in te recovery position with a flanel over their forehead.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed Sit the man down and lean him forward asking them to breathe through their mouth as you pinch their nose.
3. A young girl has fallen a cut her leg badly with lots of blood Control the bleeding by putting pressure on the cut and talk to girl to prevent shock (offer sugar) and if needed, ring emergency services
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg Lay your friend down and keep them calm whilst ringing emergency services. Support legwith either padding or a home made splint.
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut. Clean the wound with water and anticeptic and take her to hospital to check no glass remains
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly Ring emergency services. Make sure no danger for yourself. Do not peel of clothes. Cool wound softly
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple Bend child forward and give five blows to back in between shoulder blades - check mouth to remove obstruction. If this doesnt work, stand or kneal behind them and give abdominal thrusts
8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone Same as above
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head. Look for any danger. Call emergency services. Keep casualty talking and awake and support her head so she doesnt move.
10. A girl has just had an electric shoc from a bare wire Disconnect all electrical things, do not touch casualty as they may be 'live' push any danger away with wooden stick. Ring emergency services

| 1. A small child has fainted Make sure the child is down on a flat surface, if not then gently move them. Raise the child’s feet above heart level using a pillow or other object. After the child wakes up, give him or her water to drink to increase hydration.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed. If an old man got a nose bleed, sit him down and lean him slightly forward. Keeping his head above his heart will make his nose bleed less. Leaning him gently forward so the blood will drain out of his nose instead of down the back of his throat. If you lean him back, he may swallow the blood. This can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
3. A young girl has fallen a cut her leg badly with lots of blood. First make sure she doesn’t have any other injuries. Then find a clean cloth and gently press on her cut. Grab a shirt or bandages that will hold the cloth to her leg and try to stop the bleeding. It might be a good idea to make a splint on her leg to make sure that she doesn’t rip or tear her cut further. Then call for an ambulance.
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg. It’s a good idea to bring a pair of scissors and gently cut her pant leg to remove it from her leg. This will help you in seeing the damage that was down during the fall. Take some sticks, roughly the same length and wrap them in cloth. Place beside her leg and wrap with more cloth. This will help in creating a splint and help keep her leg straight till help comes.
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut. It’s always a good idea if you cut yourself and have any projectile in your body to leave it there and go straight to the hospital. It is possible that if you take it out yourself that it could cause more damage and possible serious bleeding. So wrap it gently in a cloth and take to hospital.
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly. Quickly put some cold water on his burn and make sure that the firework is completely out before you call for help. Keep wetting the burns, if a lot of burns might be a good idea to place him in a bath tub full of cold water. Wait for ambulance.
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple./b] Now would be the best time to put the Heimlich maneuver to the test. Gently pick up the child and wrap arms around them; taking your fist and gently thrust the abdomen until the projectile comes loose.
[b]8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone Open their mouth and see if you can see it. If not, now would be a good time to call the hospital and let them know that you are come. Fish bones can damage on the way down and it’s a good idea not to swallow.
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head. Call an ambulance right away. Next check and see if she if breathing and gently hold her neck in position. Grab a shirt, cloth anything clean and gently hold it on the wound on the back of her head. Try to talk to her and see if she becomes conscious. It’s a good idea to keep taking to her and try to get her to respond. Wait for the paramedics to take over.
10. A girl has just had an electric shock from a bare wire. First rule of thumb is to make sure that you aren’t going to get shocked. Double check your surroundings then check on the girl. Check her air way and make sure she is breathing. If she responsive ask her if she is ok and check were she was shocked from. Call and ambulance and try to keep her clam and alert.

| 1. A small child has fainted.
Stay calm and check for any danger before making sure that the child is still breathing and that the child’s pulse is normal. Once the situation has been assessed (having made asked the parents any relevant questions: is there any reason why this could have happened, is the child sick, etc. if at all possible), I’d call an ambulance before employing any necessary techniques for revival (for example: CPR, a cool cloth to the forehead, etc.), unless the situation is not dire. If the child has asthma, or another ailment, the situation would change accordingly.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed.
Provide tissues and help the man, if necessary, apply the tissues to try to stem the flow of blood. Assess the situation: is this normal, is there an obvious reason for the nosebleed? Ask the man questions, and call an ambulance if it is obvious that the nose bleed is to be concerned about.
3. A young girl has fallen a cut her leg badly with lots of blood.
Calm the girl down (assuming she’s in a state of panic) or talk to her and keep her attention if she is in shock, and lay her down so that her leg is elevated. Assess the situation, and if there are no dangers or risks, apply pressure to the wound and bind with clean cloth or something similar until a professional arrives.
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg.
Assess the situation. Are there any dangers? Animals, broken branches or glass? If everything is clear, look for something that could prove useful as a splint. If the break doesn’t look too fatal, I’d prevent my friend from moving unnecessarily and bind the splint to her leg, and take her somewhere where I could either call for help or receive help.
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut.
Dry her hand and stem the flow of blood. I’d assess whether or not the glass is retrievable and act accordingly: either picking the glass out myself if the piece was not imbedded in her skin or too small, or use a pair of clean tweezers to pick it out. I’d then clean the cut and bandage it.
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly.
I’d make sure there was no further harm to be had: eliminate any remaining danger, whether it is fire, or more lit fireworks, and then call an ambulance if the damage is bad enough. I’d then remove any clothes that are in the way, but not if the clothes had melted with the skin. I’d pour cold water over the burnt areas and wait for someone more capable of handling severe burns, and keep my brother conscious and calm.
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple.
First assessing the situation, I’d check if the child is still breathing, or coughing. Depending on the severity of the choking, I’d encourage the child to cough the apple up, or remove the food myself if possible. If the child has stopped breathing, I’d call an ambulance.
8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone.
Assess whether the choking is severe or mild: if mild, encourage the adult to cough the bone up. If severe, I’d lean the person forward so that the blockage won’t make any more damage, give the adult a series of sharp blows between the shoulder blades with the heel of my hand, and if this does not work I’d apply the Heimlich maneuver. If the blockage still remains, I’d call for an ambulance.
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head.
I’d asses the danger of the situation, whether the woman is in the way of further harm. I would not move the woman if there is no risk of danger or further injury and apply steady pressure to the wound, and call an ambulance.
10. A girl has just had an electric shock from a bare wire.
I’d remove the wire, careful not to touch it myself. Then I’d turn off any other electrical things that could be harmful, and assess the situation. I’d check the girl’s pulse and breathing, whether or not she is conscious. I’d lay her down and apply CPR if necessary, and then I’d call an ambulance.

| 1. A small child has fainted
Check possible damages - if I see the head got a nice hit, I might not want to move the child, unless there's a McDreamy nearby to tell me to do so xD If there's no visible damages I'd try to get the kid to come around by shaking him/her gently. If the child is still unconscious, I would make sure the airways are clear, check the breathing and pulse frquency, and turn him/her on the side, one leg bent so that he/she wont roll back on his/her back, and one arm under the head for support. This will prevent possible vomiting from choking the child.
Note; slapping the kid frantically is not a good idea.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed
Most people think you should lean your head back, but that's not what you should do. If you swallow the blood, it can cause nausea and/or vomiting. You should lean forward, keep your head above your heart (because the heart pumps the blood, that's why, you plebe xD), and pinch the soft part of your nose with your thumb and index finger. Another option is to place a cold compress or an ice pack across the bride of your nose.
3. A young girl has fallen a cut her leg badly with lots of blood
Depending on where the cut is, and how bad it is. If it's near the artery, you need to get the bleeding to stop, before she goes into a shock or coma because of blood loss. First you need to clean the cut as well as possible, and then tie a tight bandage over a few compresses to stop the bleeding. Then I'd raise her leg so that the part where the cut is would be above her heart, preferably resting on a chair - that way the heart won't pump more blood there, and the bleeding won't be as severe.
Note; Never a good idea to have white carpets.
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg
First I would check there are no other damages, no cuts or anything else, and ask her if she's hurt elsewhere. If I have a cell with me, I'd call the 112 (Finland's 911 xD), tell them exactly what happened, where I am (roughly), and then wait for instructions. When I'm done with the call, I'd find something to brace her leg with. If we're in the middle of nowhere, there are bound to be a tree or two, which means I'd be able to break a few twigs or whatever, and bind them tightly to her leg with a piece of clothing or a belt, to support the leg.
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut.
Why can't she take care of it herself? xD No, joking! I would carefully clean the cut off glass, wash it under cold water, and then put band-aid on it.
Note; Another reason to have a dishwasher and a maid.
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly
I would keep the burnt part constantly covered with something cold, while I would ask someone to call for an ambulance. I wouldn't put any bandage on it, because it would most likely tear up more skin, and cause pain to my brother (...which might seem tempting).
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple
I'd watch if it's just for a fes seconds, or if it's more serious, before acting. I would give the kid a few prompt hits in the back (with a fist, not a flat hand - that just hurts!), and see if it helps. Even if I'd know how to do the Heimlich Maneuver, I wouldn't do it on a kid, because I could easily make more damage than help. If it's a small child, between ages 1-3, I would take the kid in my lap, support the chest are while I placed him/her on his stomach across my lap, and promptly hit his back - not too hard, of course.
8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone
I'd ask the person to try and cough the bone up, while I call the hospital to inform them to make things ready for a new body to-- I MEAN, to let them know we might need professional advice xD
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head.
I can't move her, because she might have serious head injuries. If she's conscious, I'd ask her if she can move her head, and if she feels dizzy, pain or anything else. Then I'd tell her to lift both of her hands, clench them into fists, and place them under her jaw, and keep them there. This might hurt, but it is to keep her neck straight, and avoid more damages. When I've done this, I would call the ambulance, calmly explain the situation, my location, and wait for further advice.
10. A girl has just had an electric shock from a bare wire
I would make sure to not get shocked myself, while checking if the girl's okay. I'd make a quick look-over of the damages, check her pulse frequency, and ask how she's feeling. After calling the ambulance, I'd keep her calm, and conscious - if she falls asleep or goes unconscious, she might slip into coma, or get severe injuries.

| 1. A small child has fainted-
First off, I would see if the child was still breathing. Next, I would check to see if there were any obvious damages to the head, neck, or spine from the fall. If not, I would move the child to level ground while putting their legs above heart level, in order to get regulate blood-flow and breathing. After the child wakes, I would put a wet washcloth on their forehead, while having them stay down for approximately 20 minutes. Also, have them drinking liquids continuously.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed- Hand him a tissue, while trying to keep him calm. Have him hold the tissue below his nostrils while pinching the bridge of his nose. This will cease the blood-flow. Ask questions to see if the nosebleed was caused by anything. If not, call a doctor to make sure there are no signs of blood clots and such.
3. A young girl has fallen a cut her leg badly with lots of blood- First off, keep the girl come. Ask her questions to distract her while examining the leg. I'd rip a piece of clothing while putting pressure on the cut. Then, I'd tie the rags around her leg tightly, while continuing to apply pressure. I'd also have her drink lots of fluids so that she doesn't lose consciousness. Call an ambulance or drive to the closest emergency room.
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg- Repeat steps from #3, but add something into the rag bandage as a splint. Seeing as how we are out in the middle of nowhere I would try to contact Life Flight and tell them what happened and the approximate area. I have their number in my cell phone already (:
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut- Err, I'd whip out my first aid kit that I have in my fanny pack. Get the glass out with tweezers, then use hydrogen peroxide to disenfect the cut. After that, I'd put a Hello Kitty band-aid on her. Pick up the glass, then finish doing the dishes for her (:
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly I'd get an ice pack, covered with a dish cloth so that it doesn't freeze. Then I'd lather on massive Neosporin and cover it with a gauze. I'd check on it every few hours, applying more ointment if needed.
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple If the child can breathe, I would encourage them to keep coughing. If the apple if visible, I would do a finger sweep, by scooping the food out with my index finger. If that doesn't work, I would go on to abdominal thrusts, pausing between every fifth one.
8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone Repeat the steps from #7. If the adult is pregnant or obese, instead of giving abdominal thrusts, give chest thrusts instead.
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head- Try to have the woman remain calm. Call 911, because the bleeding is obvious sign of neck or spine fracture. Do not move her at all. If possible, ask her to elevate her feet. If she is having trouble breathing, Id have her clench her fist together and raise them above her head. (Thats what I do for my asthma)
10. A girl has just had an electric shock from a bare wire- Once again, try to keep her calm. If possible, have her move her feet above heart level. Since she is in shock, she's probably going to be hyperventilating. Repeat the last step from #9. I would try to keep their body level moderate.

| 1. A small child has fainted If a child faints, I would first make sure the environment is safe and then, if the child comes around quickly, make sure they continue to lie down for 10-15 minutes. I would find something to elevate the feet of the child with to make sure blood continues to flow to the brain. I would then find a cold washcloth and some apple juice. The washcloth helps to stop dizziness and the apple juice will raise the child’s blood sugar levels. If the child does not come to right away, it’s important to check for breathing or blocked airway and begin standard CPR steps.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed I would first have the man sit down and lean slightly forward to make sure the blood does not begin to go down the throat. I would then pinch the nose right below the bridge for at least 5 minutes until the bleeding has stopped. After the bleeding has stopped, I would advise him not to blow his nose at this could break up the blood clots and help him clean up.
3. A young girl has fallen a cut her leg badly with lots of blood I would first bring her inside and have her lay on a couch with her leg elevated to hopefully minimize the amount of blood coming and leaving her leg. The cut would then need to be washed carefully to avoid infection with water or saline solution if possible. Keep her distracted from the pain by telling funny stories and once it’s clean or the bleeding has slowed put a thin layer of Neosporin over the cut followed by gauze or a bandage. If the cut is very deep or won’t stop bleeding, it’d be best to take her to the hospital.
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg I would first have them lay down to minimize movement of their leg. If there is any bleeding, it’s important to clean the cut. If I have a cell signal, I would call 911 and give them my general location. If an ambulance is not capable of helping, I would need to put the leg into a splint. I would take two pieces of splinting material on the outside and inside of the leg and tie it using a cord. This should be tight enough to keep the leg in place, but not tight enough to stop circulation. I would then find something (like a stick) to use as a makeshift crutch and help her walk to the nearest way to help (whether it’s or a car or hospital) by having her put pressure on the stick, not leg and going very slowly.
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut. Depending on how deep the glass has entered the skin, it might be best to go immediately to the hospital in case stitches are need. If the cut does not look too deep, then I would make sure the room is very well lit and sterilize the area around the cut. Using gauze, try to slow the bleeding to make it easier to see and work on getting the glass out. I would then use sterilized tweezers (hold them under a flame for 20 seconds and then wait for them to cool) and slowly pull out the piece of glass. I would then check the cut thoroughly to make sure there is no more glass. If there’s none, I would sterilize the cut again and bandage it. If there was more glass, I would ask her if she needed a rest of removing the glass before continuing.
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly The best thing to do with a bad burn would be to take him immediately to a professional doctor as burns can be very serious. With a first degree burn, simply washing it with cool water will help to ease the pain and reduce swelling. I would then wrap gauze loosely around the burn and give him some pain medication. For any second degree burns, if it is small, I would soak it in cold water for 10-15 minutes and put a wet cloth on it every few minutes after that. Put a antibiotic ointment on it and let it heal careful not to scratch it. For a third degree burn, I would take him to the hospital right away. I would not remove any clothing that may be stuck to the burn and would not soak it in any water or apply an ointment. I would cover the burn with a cool cloth on the way to medical assistance.
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple If the child is conscious, I would encourage the child to cough and call for help. If the child is unable to cough, I would then tell them that I’m going to help them and to stay calm. I would get down on one knee behind the victim and place my arms in stand Heimlich maneuver position (above the bellybutton, fists against the abdomen and far below the breastbone). I would then give thrusts until the airway is clear or goes unconscious. If a child is unconscious, I would lower her to the ground carefully, making sure her head doesn’t hit the ground. I would then do CPR by doing 5 thrusts, swiping the mouth for any substances and then giving two breaths. Continue this until an EMT arrives for the object is thrust out and the child can breathe. If the child can breathe again, turn the child over on their side.
8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone If the adult can talk or cough, I would encourage them to keep coughing and call for help. If they are unable to do either, I would then tell them I can help and to remain calm and perform standard Heimlich maneuver on them until an object is expelled from the airway or they become unconscious. If an adult goes unconscious, I would lower them to the floor and sweep their mouth. I would then give five thrusts followed by another finger sweep before giving two breaths. I would continue until medical help arrives or the victim can breathe again. I would then turn them on their side.
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head. Hold a cloth against the woman’s head to minimize bleeding. Call for help and tell someone to call 911. Wait for help to arrive and talk to the woman to keep her conscious which is very important. Let an EMT take over as soon as possible.
10. A girl has just had an electric shock from a bare wire I would first make sure that there is nothing around that could cause me to become shocked while attempting to health and that there are no live wires anywhere. I would immediately call emergency services and explain the situation. From there, I would check the girl’s breathing. If the girl is conscious, tell her to stay calm and help will be here soon. If she is not breathing, begin standard CPR and wait for medical help.

| 1. A small child has fainted If a child had fainted, I would first check to make sure they did not hit their head. If they did, I would check for visible damage. I would then raise their feet up to get their blood flowing to their brain. I would check to make sure thier airway wasn't blocked and that their pulse was strong. If they aren't breathing, or their pulse is really weak, I would have to start cpr and make sure an ambulance was called for. If the breathing and pulse are fine, then I would get a cold washcloth to place on their forehead, and once they were awake, I would give them a glass of juice to help relive the dizziness.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed To help with a nose bleed, I would tell him to sit down and lean forward, because having your head above your heart helps slow the bleeding. Leaning forward also keeps you from swallowing the blood. I would then tell him to use his thumb and index finger to pinch together the soft part of his nose, and to keep pinching until the bleeding stops. This could take about 5 minutes. If it continues to bleed after that, pinch it together for longer. As soon as his nose stopped bleeding I would warn him against doing anything that may make it start up again, like blowing his nose, or bending down to get something off the floor.
3. A young girl has fallen and cut her leg badly with lots of blood To help someone with a badly cut leg, I would find a clean cloth to use to put pressure on the wound and try to stop the bleeding. I would also lie her down and elevate her leg over her heart to try and slow down the blood being pumped to the leg. With a bad cut, the pressure would need to be constant, so without removing the cloth, I would make sure someone had called an ambulance, and keep the pressure going until they arrive.
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg First, I would make sure we are in a safe place. Then, I would make sure she was breathing okay. If she is slowing signs of another injury (such as to her back) then I would make sure not to move her, otherwise, I would make sure she was lying down on her back, with her leg elevated above her heart. If the bone broke the skin and she was bleeding, I would then make sure to control any bleeding by puting pressure on the wound with a clean cloth. Once the bleeding had stopped, I would use the water we had brought with us to clean up the wound. I would then use whatever I had available to make a splint for her leg. If I had a phone with a signal, I would call for an abulance, otherwise, I would let her lean on me to get back to the car and go to the hospital.
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut. If this happened, I would get her to sit down. I would then find some tweezers and disinfect them with peroxide. Then I would try to get the glass out with the tweezers. Once the glass was out, I would rise the cut under cool water and wash it with soap (without getting the soap in the wound). I would then pour some peroxide on the cut, and bandage it.
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly I would first make sure he isn't on fire, and if he is, put it out. I would then run the burn under cool water to bring the temperature of his skin down and relieve some of the pain and call an ambulance.
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple If the piece of apple was visible, and the child was not able to cough, I would try to sweep it out with my finger. If the apple was not visible, or the sweep didn't work, I would do the Heimlich Manuever as it applies to young children, by placing them face down on my lap, and solidly thumping bewtween their shoulder blades. If that doesn't work, I would then place them face up lying on the floor, and, with the heel of one hand at their belly button, thrust upward (toword their nose) to try and dislodge it. Calling an emergency line for advice is always a good idea, especially to have them send an ambulance if you aren't able to dislodge the apple.
8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone If they are coughing, I would encourage the coughing. If they are not coughing, I would do the Heimlech Manuever for adults, by standing behind them, and doing the same abdominal compressions I did on the child (just standing up this time). If this isn't working, it is a good idea to call an ambulance, and if they became unconcious, I would lie them down and try the abdominal thrusts (with finger sweeps beween every few thrusts) until help arrived.
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head. I would call 911 immediatly for advice and to report the crash. I would not move her for fear of spinal injury, and would talk to her while doing whatever the emergency person on the phone says to do.
10. A girl has just had an electric shock from a bare wire I would first make sure that there is no way for me to get shocked too, while calling 911. I would then make sure the girl is no longer in danger of touching any more wires and check her pulse and breathing. I would talk to her if she is concious, and if uncouncious, I would begin cpr (breaths if her heart is beating, chest compressions if it is not) until the ambulance arrived.

| 1. A small child has fainted Check the area for danger, do not move the child incase there is a spinal injury. Call for help immediately and follow the given instructions.
2. An old man is suffering with a nose bleed Tilt his head forward, provide a tissue and pinch the bridge of his nose. If the bleeding does not ease off or stop, call for help. It used to be that you tilted their head back but this is now the wrong thing to do as the patient could choke on the blood going down their throat.
3. A young girl has fallen a cut her leg badly with lots of blood Tie something around the top of her leg to slow the circulation of blood to ease the bleeding, or if it is bad enough, tie it very tight to stop the bleeding. This risks loosing the leg if help doesnt arrive in time but too much blood loss leads to death in minutes. With sterile water (if available) or normal water, gently clean the area. If its possible, take the patient to hospital for treatment, if the bleeding is too much, call for help.
4. You and a friend are in the middle of nowhere and she falls and breaks her leg Grab a stick, using bandages or your top if you have none, bind it to the leg, holding it in the position that hurts the least if she can move it, or how it is if she cant. Kepp her calm and still and call for help.
5. Your mother is washing up the dishes and cuts her hand. There is glass in the cut. Do not remove the glass, bandage round the wrist to ease the bleeding and go to hospital to have it removed and stitched.
6. Your brother was being silly and playing with fireworks and has burnt himself badly Apply cold water for 20mins, if not imporvement, keep it wet and go to hospital.
7. A young child starts choking on a piece of apple Put child across your knees and administer back blows until the item comes up. The himlich is illegal now because there is a high risk of cracking a rib and puncturing a lung.
8. A full grown adult starts choking on a fish bone Stand them against a wall and give back blows, if this fails try chest blows.
9. A car has crashed and a woman is bleeding on the back of her head. Call for help, keep her calm, if she is out of the car, lay her down with something to stop the bleeding (or at least help) if her face is red lay her down with her head raised (her blood pressure is too high) if her face is white and she is faint her blood pressure is too low, lay her down and raise her feet.
10. A girl has just had an electric shoc from a bare wire Do not touch her, call for help.
