Use a puppet finger glove and sing tunes to them Play ride on shoulders making horse noises, play with loud musical items, even if it is just bang the saucepan with a spoon! Play fantasy games - walk through a wood and make-believe the magical creatures that live there - get them to help you tell a story and finish off with a teddy bears picnic Boys and girls quite often play steriotypical things at this age, for example - a game of football with a boy or bike riding, or perhaps dancing to music with a girl and dressing up games.

| 2. Describe a game you could play with each of the following; Erm... sit in front of the baby, hide your face with hands then unover it and say 'peek-a-boo'. Teddy bears picnicTo play over lunchtime. Put down an old blanket and let baby help you position a few teddies in a circle, saving a space for you and little one. Then take out 3-4 plastic or paper plates and make a sandwich for baby. This needs to be cut into 4 and one piece placed on each plate. You can also add cheese strings, crisps or pieces of fruit. Then place a plate in front of your child and a few near the teddies. A little music helps things along and the idea is that lil one eats all of the picnic whilst talking away to the teddies[/size] Follow the leader, the kid can have fun burning off their extra energy following adult directions for skipping, hopping and jumping Keeper of the KeysThe Keeper of the keys - one person sits in the middle of a circle with their eyes closed, at their feet is a bunch of keys which have to be guarded. The child has to try and take the keys without being heard/pointed at. | |

| 5 Month Old Baby
Tickle, Pat and Touch
This is a very easy game to play with your little one involving the sense of touch. Use items around the house, such as feathers, velvet, cloth, etc, to introduce the baby to different fabrics and surfaces. Make up a fun song for each item!
1 Year Old
Pick a Hand, Any Hand!
This is a good game to play with your new toddler! Take a small brightly colored toy and transfer it back and forth from hand to hand in front of your child. Then have them point to a hand. If they pick the hand containing the toy, praise them and let them play with it for a little while. If they pick the wrong hand, let the game begin again!
4 Year Old
Stop! Go!
This is a fun game that will help your energetic youngster learn to follow simple commands like that of a traffic cop. Start at one end of your drive way, your child at the other end. When you say Go, have your child walk towards you, when you yell Stop they must freeze. If they continue to move then they have to start over again. If they reach you and hug your legs before you're able to yell Stop then they win! And then they get to give the orders. It's a fun game that you're entire family can enjoy.
6 Year Old
Headlight Statues
This is a game that I made of with a friend when we were 6 years old. It's meant to be a summer game, and is best played in a neighborhood with slight to medium traffic. Gather your 6 year old and a friend or two and have them gather in the front yard. You are the designated car spotter. When a car is coming, shout out, Headlight Statues. At this point the children run around the yard, but must freeze when the headlights are passing by the house, and until the spotter gives the all's clear. Anyone that is moving when the headlights pass the yard gets a point. At the end of the game the person with the least amount of points is the winner!

| I tried and playing this game three times and the submit score screen just wouldn’t come up. I hope this is alright. 2. Describe a game you could play with each of the following; 5 month old baby – A very popular game to play with babies at this age is peek-a-boo. This is because at the age of 5-6 months, the baby is starting to have a memory. She/he knows when something is missing and appears again. This is when they start to remember you and have reactions when you play games like this. It can be played with either your hands or a simple blanket. 1 year old baby – At this age, it is good for them to practice their coordination skills. Therefore anything small will catch their attention for a long time. Some parents simple give them coins to place in a piggy bank but it is much safer to use food. Therefore you can get a piece of string and tie a big knot on one end. On the other end, you can give the baby cereal with holes in the middle and teach this how to slid it through the string. This helps them practice using their hands more. 4 year old – A simple game to play is hide and seek. This can be played indoors or outdoors and it helps your child become more independent and active then just sitting inside. 6 year old – This is when kids start to become very creative. A fun game to play with them is to just build their imaginations. You can play house or school with props which helps them learn how to handle things. It’s also good to have a play date so they could learn to be more social with other children their age. | |

| 1. Same problem as Jenn, no matter how many times I tried to click 'submit score' nothing would happen. 2. 5 month old: Good old game of 'peek-a-boo' is always a blast for kids this age, as well as simple things like tickling and making silly faces. The main thing to do with a baby is really to make sure your attention is on them, whatever kind of fun, simple little game you play with them. 1 year old: A fun thing to do with a 1 year old is to go to the pool on a warm day. Always keep them in your arms as you are in the water, and simply gently rock them around or bounce while holding them over the water, dipping their feet and legs in the water. 4 year old: Clean up a kitchen table and spread a long, wide sheet of white paper across it. Make sure you give the child an old shirt to cover their clothes, and get a paint set out. Let them use their hands or a paintbrush as they please, and help them along to make a masterpiece - or a big blob, whatever it turns out to be. A less messy alternative is to get out a few coloring books (or even print some drawings, as many can be found online) and color with them. 6 year old: At this age, the best thing is to keep the kids active. Go outside with them, walk to the park and have fun in the swingset or sliding down the slides. Play a game of tag (running slowly to give them a chance to catch you, of course), draw on the pavement with chalk, playing with a jumping rope, do a short bicycle ride, or if you live nearby a baseball field, go with them while it's empty and practice batting (throwing slow and low balls, preferably using tennis balls rather than actual baseballs, which are much heavier and can hurt more easily). | |

| I had the same problem too >.< 5 month old babyWith a baby this young, I'd simply play a game of peek-a-boo. Covering up my eyes and then uncovering them and saying "Peek-A-Boo!" On the rare chance that the child isn't amused with this game, small tickles on the stomach while talking cutely to him or her, giving lots of smiles and laughs. 1 year oldTake the one year old to a park, or just outside in the yard and sit a short distance away from them, rolling a ball back and forth between yourself and the infant. While doing this ask questions about the ball, the grass, the sky, any birds around. Just anything that they would know the name of or want to learn the name of. 4 year oldHide and Go Seek is a great game with kids this age. They love to count and seek people especially, just make sure that you don't hide in too difficult of a spot. When you see them you can also make a show of not noticing the boy or girl, usually making them proud of their great hiding spot. Some kids might not get the idea of hiding until they're found but they still have a blast letting you look for them. 6 year oldFollow the leader is a great game for six year olds, especially when they get to be leaders. Take them to a park or a school playground and let them lead you around wherever they want to go, through tunnels, down slides, around bushes. Another idea is any game of imagination, such as house or pretending to be any sort of animal. | |

| ^^I couldn't get the submit your score box to pop up but I hope this is still good enough. =/5 Month Baby Babies will love to swing on little infant swings. Place the baby in a swing and gently swing him back and forth. Some people even suggest saying "hello" when he swings back towards you and "goodbye" when he swings away so the baby will begin to learn that different sounds have different meanings. 1 Year Old You can take the babies favorite toy (a teddy bear, doll, ect) and pretend it has come to life. Have it walk around with the child, talk to her, participate in activies such as eating, learning to walk, ect. This not only amuses the baby but helps with language skills as well. 4 Year Old A lot of children this age really enjoy the game Candyland. A classic game, it's fun for the kid (and for you). If the child isn't really into board games, hide and seek is a great game to play. Even if the child isn't so great at hiding, it's fun for them if you pretend not to know where they are and it's cute to watch. 6 Year Old Buy a whole bunch of different colored chalk and then go outside on a sunny day and let the child draw and be as creative as they want out on the sidewalk or driveway. Encourage their creative sides and suggest fun things to do such as trace your body in chalk. | |

5 Months-Old: Games where tickling is involved are very fun for small children, and it also encourages them to differentiate between touches. A game of tickle-me would work where the adult tickles the baby in different places (feet, arm, belly) and the baby reacting to each touch differently as it registers different levels of enjoyment.
1 Year-Old: Playing a game of who's-the-baby would be fun and encourage the baby to recognise their own reflection. This game would be played by the adult gaining the child's attention with words or actions, then covering their face with a mirror, which would make the baby look for you, until you lower it and show the baby your face again.
4 Year-Old: A game of Hide-and-Seek (where one person seeks and the others hide from the seeker) would be enjoyable for a 4 year-old, and encourages them to think outside the box: if they're found easily, they won't use the same hiding places again. At the same time the game is a good social way of introducing the child to counting and physical activity.6 Year-Old: At this stage of the child's development, games that encourage the child to use more of their faculties are called for, thus I would have the child engage in a game of lego. The child would be using its creativity to make somethout out of simple blocks, while having to use their minds to create it in a way that works.

I would also take their favorite toy and hide it underneath a blanket or cover of some and see if they pull it off. 1 year old - I would have a set of blocks and let him or her stack them however they wanted. 4 year old - When I was a kick we would paint pasta and make jewelry out of it. Despite popular belief girls and boys can do this. But I would also let them play with legos because at this age it's important to build things. 6 year old - Board games are a lot of fun, especially since they're at an age when they can start to appreciate them. Puzzles are also great too. And I can't leave out Barbie Dolls for girls (even though the new barbies today aren't as good as the ones I had growing up.

| 1: 2: I actually believe in gender neutral parenting, mean I don't assign gender roles onto children. Therefore, my method of playing with children is completely different maybe?
- 5 month old baby
With five months old, I love to play air plane. Basically, I lay down on the floor, with the baby on my chest/stomach and place my hands carefully on the baby's chest/stomach. Without applying too much pressure (we don't want to hurt the baby!) I lift the baby up. I also make sure my knees are up to me keep balance. Babies love this, or, at least the babies I play with do!
- 1 year old
I have several cousins that love piggy back rides, especially at one. They are just now learning to walk, so piggy back rides are amazing for them. I also love to play horsie with them.
- 4 year old
My four year old cousin loves for me to pick him up so he can touch the ceiling in his home. It's extremely easy and every other child I have done this with also loved it! You carefully pick them up by the waist and raise them over your head. This is assuming there are low ceilings or you are short. Since I'm five foot one and the ceiling is about three feet higher than me, my cousin (who about two-three feet) can easily reach the ceiling. All my cousins love to play hide-and-go seek around this age as well.
- 6 year old
My six year old cousin loves to play the "climbing" game. All my cousins seem to enjoy it, male and female. What basically happens is I hold their hands and they pull their bodies back until I the only thing holding them up. They will proceed to climb up my body (I bend my knees slightly to help them keep grip) and then when they get to my stomach, they will flip backwards. Why it's called the "climbing" game beats me. Seems like they enjoy just doing flips. Again, I have played this with more than just my cousins, but with children I have baby-sat. It seems all kids think alike or something.
