Music Zone Badge

You must have completed musician badge and music group badge before attempting this badge

You must complete the following to earn your badge

Choose 5 of the following
(You may also choose a different 5 options after you recieve your first badge to get the music zone scholar badge)

1. Advertise and plan a music group in the chat rom/box. Run the event discussing different types of music, likes and dislikes, what the music means to you etc etc. The group should last at least 1 hour. Print screen and post evidence here (at least 5 other members needed)

2. Record yourself singing or playing music in any form you wish. Upload it here and discuss what you are doing and how you think you did. What did that piece mean to you?

3. Choose two favourite pieces of music and create a banner for each of them including at least one lyric from both the songs.

4. Hold a campfire event in the spirit week forum. Focus on songs and music in RPG format. Have at least 5 other members join in and run it at least 5 days. Post your completed link here.

5. Design and make an instrument and take a photo of it and upload it here, explaining what it is and what it does.

6. Choose a musical you have seen either at the theatre or a movie musical. Summerise the music and explain all about it, saying what you liked and disliked etc.

7. Find a piece of music from another country. Post a link to it here. Explain how this music is linked to the country and how it made you feel.

8. Make a graphical songbook of between 5-10 songs of your own

9. Run a musical quiz in the chat room or box. Make it at least 40 questions and give 10 points per correct answer. Advertise this first and let elfie or amy know the dates etc so it can be put in the portal. Print screen and post here for evidence and send housepoints to elfie. (note: this one can be linked with quiz badge)

10. Explain in detail warm up excersises you may do before a show. At least 200 words long.

I don't think I can sing well, so for me this was decent XD I chose this song because, for one, it's simply beautiful, and secondly it makes me think of Narnia and Prince Caspian...and who doesn't want to think about that? :D And I know it's hard to hear me...took forever to get it that good, sorry XD

A few years ago, my mom took me to see Wicked in Chicago. It was my first time seeing a live musical, and I was so excited! I'd read the book and loved it, listened to the music and loved it - the only thing left was to see it performed. It was amazing - the sets, the actors, the singing, everything!

The music of Wicked is extraordinary. It fits into the story line perfectly and really helps develop the characters and set the scene for important events. The music is unique, which fits since it is a very unique musical. I was able to find a great clip of the musical on YouTube, which can be found here. In this, you can see some of the humor in Wicked, along with one of my favorite songs, which starts at 4:33.

Although most of you don't know it, I belong to an Israeli Dance Troupe! I've learned many Israeli and even some non-Israeli dances throughout my eight years involved in the group, and one of my favorites is Bora Dance, a video of which you can see here. (I have so far been unable to find lyrics and a translation, but if I'm able to find some I'll definitely post!)

The music of the dance is linked to Israel in many ways, some fairly obvious, such as it being sung in Hebrew. Besides that, the music, especially in the intro, has a very Middle Eastern feel that many Israeli music includes. It is also dance music, and Israel is famous for its incredible dance music and choreographers.

Listening to the song makes me want to jump up and dance, truthfully XD It reminds me of all the good times my friends and I had learning and dancing it, of those who have graduated from the troupe and those still in it. And now you can all learn it from the video and we can dance it together :D

1. Built to Last: Mêlée
I admit it - I'm a hopeless romantic. This song is basically what I want XD Simply something that's built to last. And the vocals and music are fantastic!

2. In Between Days: Ben Folds

I love love love Ben, and this is one of my favorites. As always, the piano is beautiful along with his lyrics and voice. Like most songs, it's about love, but I love how he sings about love. It's not about sex, drugs and alcohol, just...love Music Zone Badge 436937

3. Better: Regina Spektor

I love Regina XD Her voice is so unique, music beautiful, and lyrics sometimes hilarious and sometimes very touching. This is one of the touching ones ^^

4. Beautiful Thing: Sister Hazel

I don't usually enjoy much country, but with the lyrics and music of this one, I don't mind a bit that it's country. Just listen to the lyrics and you'll get how incredibly adorable this song is. Besides being adorable, the music and vocals are great.

This one...I really enjoy the music of it. I'm not that attached to the lyrics, but the music I really like. It's also the music to the first video I ever made, hehe, so whenever I hear the song I see a better version of the video in my head XD

6. She Moves In Her Own Way: The Kooks

This song is infectious! I love their voices - so cute! The music is very good, and it's just...cute ^^ (See how the explanations are getting shorter and shorter? XD)

7. Into the Dark: Ben Lee

I think we're getting a pattern here...cute songs sung by adorable guys XD

But there's also quality music, vocals, and lyrics, which is what I value in a song, lol.

8. Annie Waits: Ben Folds

This is a song that my friends and I have sung and clapped along with for years XD As always, great music and lyrics and vocals!

9. The Luckiest: Ben Folds

This song is just...beautiful. It's what my future husband is going to sing at our wedding. And, of course, he'll decide that himself :D

10. Nothing Better: The Postal Service

Really cute song with The Postal Service's interesting way of doing things. I really like their style of music, and the lyrics are adoooooooooorable.

11. Ever Ever After: Carrie Underwood

One of the few other country musicians I like ^^

This is a song from Enchanted, a movie I absolutely adore. This song's as adorable as the movie, and I love the lyrics. It's so true! Hehehe.

Love her voice! And the music...lyrics...

13. Love For A Child: Jason Mraz

This song is fantastic. I didn't know about it until after buying this album because of 'I'm Yours,' and I like this one better in a way. It's really touching, speaking about how kids grow up really quickly and how we should "taking this empty cup and filling it with a little bit more of innocence." Really beautiful song.

14. If Everyone Cared: Nickelback

My all time favorite Nickelback song. Simply beautiful, everything about it.

15. Pressure: Paramore

Just realized I liked them recently, and this is one of my favorite's. I love how she can sound this good without it being edited or anything, same with the guitars.

16. Drops of Jupiter: Train

My favorite Train song. Beautifully done, music and lyrics and everything.

17. Far Far: Yael Naim

Beautiful song from a beautiful new artist. I think almost any girl can relate to the words, and she does it beauuuuutifully.

Sentimental song for me ^^ My dad would sing it all the time when I was little (even though he can't sing), and it's just a beautiful song that I love very very much Music Zone Badge 436937
