The Rebelious Journey

Herbology lesson had just ended, and Hayley's class were leaving the Greenhouse. Hayley glanced around made sure no one was watching, and grabbed Holly's arm. "C'mere," she whispered. She looked over to the Forbidden Forest. "Let's be rebels, and go for a wee walk...." she trailed off smiling, hoping no one else had saw.

Eliza and Zeke saw them, and raised an eyebrow before shrugging, and walking up to them.
"Where are we walking to, scoundrels that we are?" Zeke said, jokingly.

Holly grinned.
"I was hoping Hayles was about to tell ME that,"

Natalie was listening to the conversation.

"I'm coming too," she said, "I never am that rebelious."

Hayley began to walk forward, towards the forest. She shrugged. "I dunno, just a little...adventure," she said smiling slyly.

Holly grinned, took Hayley by the arm, and darted into the forest.

Hayley and Holly both ran together, straight into the forest. Memories flooded back to Hayley.....the time when they were five, and nearly got run over, when Holly dared her to run across the road, infront of traffic.....when they were eleven, and got their Hogwarts letter, and both held a secret party at the house where the last family died....
When the got deep enough into the forest, Hayley stopped. "Well....what now?" she asked.

"I think this is the part where........where..........we get lost?"
Holly shrugged.

Hayley nodded, then let go of Holly's arm. She ran forwards, laughing. Then scooted behind a large tree so Holly couldn't see her.

Natalie walked into the forest. She was in search of the Thestrals...and of course,when she found them she would be able to see them..

Holly rolled her eyes at how pathetic Hayley's hiding place was, but ambled forward unawares all the same.

Natalie walked on into the forest. It was dark, but she wasn't scared of it as she used to be. She know from experience that there were much worse things to be afraid of. She walked right past Holly and Hayley who she knew were playing and bringing back old memories so she didn't want to disturb them. She was happy enough to leave them be, for what she wanted to do was very special to her.

Eliza and Zeke walked forwards, exploring a new path.
"Come on, this must be the only path I havn't gone down in here!" Eliza called to the others.

Natalie walked on up the forest path, not straying from it, for she could hear the Thestral's calls. She walked until she reached a small clearing. She took out her of book bag a large bag of meat chunks the elves had given her in the kitchens when she had told them what she was going to do. She placed the bag on the ground and let out a shriek-like call. Immediately, the Thestrals started to land to feast on the meat, and Natalie walked quietly up to the nearest one; her favourite, Hervay as she like to call him. He was the new baby of the herd.

"Hello little one," she said, feeding him meat from the bag.

The thestral let her stroke it's head and gave a greatful grunt.

Natalie smiled.

"I'm glad you're here," she said.

The mother of Hervay, Garnet, walked over to Natalie and sniffed the air around her. Then, recognising the scent, she bent low and ate some meat from the bag.

Eliza followed her into the clearing and gasped. Zeke mirrored his sister.
"What. Are. They. ?" Eliza said, eyeing the thestrals warily.

"They're called Thesrals...and don't worry..they won't hurt you...actually, it is quite special that you can see them....you've seen death I take it," said Natalie, not thinking that sharing this would matter to Eliza, "well of course you have...you wouldn't be able to see them if you hadn't."

Hayley laughed, and jumped out behind the tree, trying to scare Holly, but then remembered no being on Earth could do that. Except maybe Voldemort. "BOO!" she yelled.

"Ahhh," Holly said sarcastically, without meaning.

Eliza and Zeke simply stared at the Thestrals, the scaly, horse-like, bony things, and Eliza nodded.
"My uncle... killed on of my father's subjects when I was nine. It turned into a battle which my father won. Uncle's been vying for revenge ever since." Zeke reached out to touch one. It tossed it's flank and whinneyed.

Hayley giggled, and tripped over a large tree root. "Damn," she said, picking herself up.

Eliza asked Natalie,
"I've heard the word Thestrals... But I've never seen one. What do they do?"

Holly glanced at Natalie and Eliza, and then at the thestrals.
They scared her, so she turned her attention back to Hayley.

"My aunt died...heart attack....she was taking care of me when it happened, and I was only two, so I didn't know what to do or what was happening," said Natalie vaguely, "and to answer your question, Thestrals can only be seen by people who've seen death, and they are thought to be unlucky by many...but I like them. They are really useful. That big male over there, Yyouserian, lets me ride on him and he can take me where-ever I tell him to...they also pull the carages we ride up to school in. I can teach you how to train them to get used to you if you want."

"Oh... Yeah, that would be cool, thanks." Eliza said, "So they know you well? You've trained them?"

Hayley nodded to Holly. Having seen the death of her sister, Emma, Hayley never cared much for Thestrals. Sure, they were nice...but to Hayley they represented death...the death of Emma. Hayley turned her face from Holly, and wiped her eyes on her sleeve. "C'mon, let's go somewhere else," she said quietly, and began walking further into the forest.

Eliza saw Hayley's reaction, and decided not to inferfere. She saw Hayley moving furthur on, and followed.
"Hayley... We haven't got to now each other much... Tell us about yourself." It was Pago who spoke, and he was speaking for Eliza, Zeke, Pyro and himself. Some might think it odd, a talking ermine, but it wasn't really an ermine.

Hayley turned back. "Oh," she said, quite bemused by this question. "Well....I'm Hayley...as you know. Um, mum's a with, dad's a muggle, one sister, Daisy, she's a firstie, and well I did have an older sister, Emma, but she was killed...by deatheaters," she sniffed. "That's basically it," she said smiling. "Yourselves?" she asked.

"Ok..." Eliza spoke, "This is my sprite, Pago, and Pyro is Zeke's, we're half-breeds. Half faery... Our father is Lord Oberin, the King, and our mother is a Death Eater. We have faery magic... and that's about the simplest I can put it."

Hayley nodded. "Faery...that's cool," she said smiling.

Jamie orbed in and looked at the girls,,,,
"geeszzz everywhere i orb someones there!" he moaned at them

Hayley laughed. "Aw well, at least it's us, and not a bunch of deatheaters!" she said.

"You'd think you'd be glad to meet friends!" Eliza said, rolling her eyes, and Pago mewed in agreement.

Hayley laughed. "Yeah, you'd think!" she said smiling.

"So what's up, Jamie??" Eliza clapped him on the back.

Hayley smiled warmly at her friends.

Eliza and Zeke smiled warmly back.

"This is fun," Hayley said, picking a apple from a nearby tree.

jamie sighed,
"looking about, i was going on a sort of 'around the world in 80 orbs' he told them, "i just got back from Egypt..."

"Egypt? Oh, did you meet the Sphinx? We're great friends..." Eliza said, Zeke nodded and said,
"Ditto."

Hayley's eyes widened. "Egypt?" she said loudly, "You were in Egypt?! Oh, class, I've always wanted to go there," she said smiling.

Natalie, who had been patting Yyouserian, climbed lightly onto his back.

"Can you take me for a ride around the black lake?" Natalie asked the Theastral, and he soured upwards.

It was better than flying her firebolt. So much faster and more fluent. It's slim line allowed it to sour in and out of trees and in any direction. Natalie never felt so alive as when she was flying Thestrals.

"Egypt? Why?" Holly asked, summoning her broom.

"He's doing a tour around the world. Orb the world in 80 days." Eliza answered. "Right?"

"Oh I see," Holly comprehended, and mounted her broom, "Fancy a spin anyone?"

"No ta.' Eliza said, and Zeke shook his head.

"Righto," Holly said, and zoomed off into the clear night sky.

Eliza watched her go.
Behind them, Zeke heard a twig snap.
"Euh, 'Liza?" It could just be a harmless animal, but you never knew in the Forbidden Forest...

Holly did a few spectacualr swerves in mid air and then flew to safety again. Once there she was about to comment on her flying skills....but spotted something which made her stumble backwards.
"Whats that?" she asked, a look of horror on her face. She was pointing to a spot some five feet behind Eliza and Zeke.

Eliza and Zeke turned around, slowly, and gaped.

((Ah, I'm home alone and this is freaking me out! lol))

Holly swallowed and attempted to make out what was causing the shadow.
