Ancient Rune drabbles

For this assignment I want you to simply create two Drabbles.

1) This first Drabble I would like you to create is about the Blank Rune (Note: this may require you to do some research)

60 house points

2) The second drabble which I would like you to complete is about anything to do with Ancient Runes. It could be set on an adventure or simply in the Ancient Runes class room is it completely up to you. Be creative!

30 house points

Remember, a drabble is 100 words +/- 10

Both drabbles must be completed to receive the correct amount of house points.

Part One

Many don’t use the blank runes because they do not think that it is appropriate to use. They don’t even consider it to be a rune so that is why they do not use it and don’t think too much of it. There are others though who would disagree with that. They say that the blank rune is given so that you could replace that one with any other runes that you might have lost. They use the blank rune in their readings and they have their own interpretation as to what it means. Some use it, some do not.

Part Two

I looked at the runes that were laid before me. “What does this one mean?” I asked the lady who had placed that one down.

“It means that-“ the lady started to say but I quickly cut her off and started to ask her another question.

“What about this one, and this one, and this” I said as I pointed to each card one by one. “And this one too”

“Will you be quiet so that I can explain” the lady shouted and I grew quiet. “As I was saying before you interrupted me… “she continued this time without interruption.

Part One

"Wow, weird. It's a blank rune!" Jason pointed to it.
"Wyrd's another name for it. There's lots of controversy about the blank rune. Most people think that it wasn't used in ancient times, but plenty of people today use it in their rune casting. It's linked to fate and fatefulness. The unknown." said Hanna, unaware of the looks she was getting.
Jason whistled the tune to X-Files and his jock friends laughed. But Hanna stood in front of the blank rune, unable to tear away her gaze. Jason was right, it was weird.

Part Two

Rigby stayed up late, working on her blank rune drabble. Finally finished, she fell asleep where in the Ravenclaw common room, her face buried in the page illustrating runes.
At breakfast she was eating she saw a few Slytherins pointing at her.
"Is it your birthday? Looking to get some gifts?" asked a rude, but bright 5th year Slytherin.
"Huh?" said Rigby, confused.
"Got the Gebo rune tattooed on your face, you silly git." The Slytherin table burst out laughing.
The rune must have gotten transferred from her book to her cheek! She ran out the hall, hoping the ink wasn't magical.

Part One

"No, it's not!" he yelled from down the hallway. I turned in disbelief. Had he been eavesdropping on me? My brows raised asking an obvious question. "It's not real. I'm surprised you of all people don't understand that." he panted out, after running to catch up.

I held up the small stone in my hand, for him to see. "Will you do me a favor?" I said in an insincere tone. "Touch it. I dare you," I demanded. "It's completely real. It takes up space, it's not make-believe. It stands for more than you could ever understand." I practically spit at him.

Part 2
Clafin sat quietly in the back of the now dark and empty classroom, furiously scribbling over the parchment before her. The professor sitting in her chair at the front of the room looked up at her in amusement. "You do know that this essay isn't going to be turned in for another two weeks, don't you?" She nearly managed to nod her head in reply, causing more hair to fall out of her messy bun. After several minutes, she set down her quill and let out a sigh.

"A complete history of ancient runes." she smiled up as she placed the thick stack of parchment before the professor.
