Friends/Foes or a Quidditch Team Group

Friends/Foes

This is an editable option that can be activated and then seen and edited under profile in the line of links such as Watched Topics and Drafts.

Users & Groups > Users > User Options > User Settings > "Allow friends/foes management"

Pro:
You can send a massive PM to all those in the list as if they were a group like Slytherin or Prefects and Heads. But unlike a group you can yourself edit who is in your list. Really good for quidditch teams, especially since the captain can edit who is on there friends for when members join or leave the team, whilst it would be more difficult to ask an admin to add or remove them every time.

Con:
The foes part allows you to ignore members, which may sound nice, but it could lead to issues in RP threads such as in the Great Hall or in Quidditch since it makes the posts invisible. Yeah we can say don't add anyone to the list, but there may be some for are not smart enough to listen.

Quidditch Team Group

I've been meaning to suggest this for a while (before I found the editable friends thing) and figure it will be easier than copy/pasting each username.

Pro:
It is quicker to send a PM to multiple people as you would for quidditch.

Con:
If say you were in quidditch, since that is my main reason for the ideas, every time someone left or was added to the team you'd have to request an admin to change it and that just piles on more work for them.

Well I don't know why anyone will add people to a foes list but you never know. There always seems to be that one lol.

We have considered adding this option in the past, when it first became available to us, but we decided against it because of the foe option. We didn't really like the idea of people being able to ignore other people. If we could have friends without the foes then we would activate it.

At the moment, I don't think we will be using this feature.


About the Quidditch group: In theory I like the idea, but it would be down to the responsibilities of the team captains to keep Elfie and I informed of changes.

I like the idea all except the foes part - Im not sure whether we would get problems with it?

I really wish that forummotion would seperate friends and foes or have some way to pic one without the other. Cause the friends sounds nice but foes can be problematic due to people ignoring people if they chose to.

When you mean ignore someone, how does exactly that works?

Im confused to how this works. Is it in terms of posts or pm's?

Well I tried it on one site and I couldn't even see the "foe"'s posts...

Both would be great, but I think the friends/foes would be a bit better.

I actually like the foes part because it would mean i could stick all inactive Huffies on that list and not have clog up my outbox with pointless PMs to them like announcements for earning house points and joining the Quidditch team, etc etc, cos you sit and look at those hundreds of PMs and think "argh why do i both when they won't get them?"

Quiddicth would be ideal but also more hard work for Sharon and Amy, it would need changed every time someone joined the team/left the team.

Actually what i'd love to see is the ability to lurk in CB or ChatRoom like they used to do on hpff and scare the living daylights of whoever was in there at the time haha

The friends/foes idea is being declined.

As we are not running an inter-house Quidditch tournament this term, I'm going to lock and move this thread.
