| Raistlin looked away from the parchment where he had been writing on and lay down this quill. It was one of the many of his essays. Leaning back in his chair he wondered if he should head to the dueling rooms to face his opponent. When the year began he had really intended to participate and had even been eager to but a lot happened since then and HE was bubbling with work to be done. Besides, he had seen and done it all when it came to duels, turnings his name a Legend among magical duelers.
“Do I want to remain untouched in my glory or should I teach the next generation and let someone rightfully take my title?” this was a side not many saw in Raistlin, the teacher in him, the will to do what is right to magic, the desire to see someone ascend in glory. “I will say goodbye to the battling grounds but today is not the day. Today I fight.”
Getting up Raistlin went to get his special duel robes, dark velvety green embroidered with protecting silver runes in both his sleeves and hood. Runes are very powerful and these are to protect him from minor spells or help him to more easily dodge them. The hood is covering his face, hiding his feelings so his opponent will not guess his next move. Checking his pouches he made sure he had everything he needed to face whatever came ahead.
Raistlin stepped into his duel room. It was empty, his opponent was even more late than he. "I hope he hasn't fled or what I'm about to do will be a totally waste of energy and power."
“Hum... which shield is the most adequate to what I’m going to do?” Raistlin muttered."It must kept me dry and also protect me from the heat."he considered.
“Oh I know BREZZA DI VENTO MERIDIONALE (South Wind Breeze in Italian)!” He spelled pointing the wand to himself and then a cool southern breeze revolved around him.
"Now I need physical protection" he thought seriously. Once again he pointed the want towards him and casted “DRACHENHAUT (Dragon Skin in German)!”
"This shall give me a good and flexible protection" Raistlin thought while stretching his hands to test his new skin
Then he started the second stage of his plan. This time he waved his wand around the room and spelled “AMAZONIA ARBOLAN (Amazonia Forest)!” from every hole in the room exotic plants emerged covering the whole room, transforming it into a tiny humid and hot forest. The room was now a typical rainforest, hot and humid but thank to his previous protection he was fine.
“No forest is complete without animals!” he said “CHAÎNE ANIMALE (Animal Chain in French)!” all sort of wild animals filled the room from dangerous black panthers, to vicious snakes, to tiny beetles.
Pointing the wand to himself Raistlin casted “AROMA ANIMAL NATURAL (Natural Animal Scent in Portuguese)” that way he was now in perfect harmony with the environment, though the animals would consider anyone else a threat!
Raistlin smiled “Hum... Should I... Shouldn’t I?” he was trying to decide if he’d put a trick or not “Well just for fun. DAS BRENNEN VON KÄLTE (Burning Cold in German)!” he aimed for the doorknob. Anyone who’d touch it would get its hand burned and useless. Raistlin grinned this would only get the more careless ones and if one was careless enough to enter a dueling room inattentive knowing they'd face him they were not worthy of his skills.
“And to finish stage two... TUTELA OCCULTUS (Protections Hidden in Latin)!” he was now invisible as well as the breeze that protected him from the heat.
That had been the easiest part of his plan. Now he was suppose to move to stage three, the most powerful and dangerous one of his all offensive and defensive front. Carefully he placed himself on the floor in the middle of the room. Closing his eyes he began to concentrate using a concentration technique that belonged to both Hinduism and Buddhism like "Om" he recited over and over.
When he had accumulated enough magical energy he shouted "カーン, Kān" a defensive technique that created a barrier that encircles Raistlin's body. From the tip of Raistlin's wand a stream of light began to rise and encircled him and in the final moment when Raistlin's was all encased the protective barrier, a closed Lotus flower could be seen had he not been under a hiding spell also. Now when he wanted to Raistlin could with a movement of his wand release a massive stream of energy to his opponent that could literally obliterate the atoms of his opponent but if he was reckless he could release all the energy in himself obliterating himself.
Smiling Raistlin began the final part of his offensive. He took a Buddhist rosary from one of his pouches and began to pray to Buddha
"Buddha, Master of Peace Keeper of Wisdom, Confidant of the faithful ones, Listen to me, hear my cry, Give me your strength and power"
Finishing his prayer Raistlin shouted "天舞宝輪, (Tenbuhōrin - Treasures of Heavens in Japanese)". That spell allows its caster to trap the opponent into a matrix of illusions (Buddhist in nature), and destroy them through five stages. Each stage obliterates one of the opponent's five human senses cumulatively. And if that's not enough can remove the opponent's 6th sense regarding intuition, instinct, the most basic brain functions that could keep one alive when all other 5 senses were gone.
All left to do now was waiting. As soon as his opponent entered if Raistlin moved the rosary he'd be able to start removing his opponent's senses or release a stream of energy with a wand move. "Maybe I went a bit overboard but it's been a while since I last dueled." Raistlin laughed. | |
