| Lately, schools have become more and more technologised - but at what cost? Do you enjoy it or do you find it rather pointless? Read: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/6241517.stmPersonally, I find it a bit silly when you have to waste precious lecture time because the lecturer doesn't know how to operate the computer or something gets broken - wouldn't it be so much better to instead invest in good teachers? I recognise it's quite useful to have snazzy IT in a large lecture theatre, because of presentations, but surely when you're in a class of 20-30 pupils, you can rely on the good old fashioned blackboard and OH projector? I mean, it might be good to have maybe two rooms of snazzy tech in a school, depending on its size, but are computers and projectors and touch-sensible projection boards necessary in *every* classroom? I must admit I was educated mostly with just the blackboard, and I think I'm no less smarter than anyone who's had lecture projected onto a wall from a computer. What do you think? How does your classroom look like? | |

| In our class...we only have the board, the teacher, and our books. Thank God those guys trashed our school, printers, copiers, and windows because they were going to use OUR school money that we NEEDED for more computers for teachers. They dont need them, they have plenty of computers. I learn more with the board and being explained to then with a computer.
Our school is already...large as most schools because we only have 6 schools in our county but only 4 will remain open next year to save money. And we needed that. I mean, our books are soooo old plus we have to share books because the school wants to use money on things the teachers need, not what we need. In one class, we do not even have a biology book. We dont even have homework for his class because we can't get nor take a book home. Instead of buying us books, they spent it on a stupid camera for a classroom to connect to another school that we dont even use, plus sercuity cameras.
I think computers, more tech. like things are going to ruin American schools soon. It's not right to spend the money for schools on things that arent needed instead of on books and things that are needed.

| *growls* I hate these stupid board and stuff that they put in our class for one reason. It's name is Mr. Woolslyer. I went into phsyics class expecting to learn phsyics I love phsyics its combines my favorite subjects math and science. At first before we got the board it was okay. He couldn't teach it right but I was able to go to other teachers for help.
Than th boards came in......
And we spent an entire nine weeks learning how to use these stupid laptops and the stupid board and did not learn a thing about phsyics. It upsetted me. He made us put a slide together though. Oh wow how fabtabluos. I hate them and our school wouldn;t have them if they didn't want to expierment. We got ours for free otherwise we wouldn't of been able to afford them. Our school is so badly in debt because of this sky's guy. He's on wipikpedia XD
Anyways I think they are useless unless you get a teacher like our statistics teacher who knows how to use it and actucally can teach us more using it because she now has these charts up and are super huge for all to see instead of trying to point numbers out on a 8 by 11 inch paper XD

| I don't think my class has too much technology - I mean, we mostly only have the teacher keeping a lecture about something boring, take notes of what we think is important, watch "interesting" slideshows from the computer on the teacher's desk...
But then again, all our school stuff must be done on a computer, which is bad because if you put ME in front of a computer, I'm most likely to log on MSN and HE, rather than write on a stupid essay :D
But I most certainly wouldn't survive writing an essay with an average of 10 pages on a paper the old-fashioned way, either xD

| I think there is waaay too much technology everywhere in the world, not just classrooms. I mean, it's good that we have proven how smart we can be with all these inventions. But seriously, is it all necessary? I think that a projector and the teacher having a computer is about as high tech as it needs to get. Giving kids computers is a bad idea, we'll trash them, then the school will spend more money replacing them...and this and that....
But I think that the whole world would be like headless chickens if we didn't have this technology. They rely on it. I do too sometimes. And I hate that I, we people, rely on technology to survive. Back in the day before computers and Ipods and everything was fine. THe only thing computers do is make things convenient, which is great, but what if your computer crashes, will you live? So I have lots of opinions on the topic of technology...but I think that Violet is right. Why do the schools waste money on security cameras and stupid stuff like that, if there's not enough books and necessities?
