The Midnight Haunting

Jace hadn't been sleeping much since his quidditch accident. Everyone had told him he should've gone to the Hospital Wing. He knew they were all completely right, but sometimes his pride got the best of him. It was about midnight when he finally began to drag himself to the Ravenclaw Common Room. He never got in trouble for being out late, because all of the prefects on watch either had a huge crush on him or they were the best of friends...Even Slytherins, to the dissapointment of many of his other friends. Jace had promised his parents that he would be kind and open to everybody at the school, and he was determined to keep that promise. As he was walked up the Grand Staircase, he heard footsteps behind him. He turned around, to greet the person, but was confused when he found the steps behind him desserted. "Hello?" he called out, now unsure if he should.

Jace sighed and looked up as Thierry walked away. "C'mon Thierry. I already apologized, and sincerely at that." he said through a forced grin. He pushed himself up from his chair, by pressing his palms against the table. It cracked under the pressure. "Oh great" he said sarcastically as he pulled out his wand. He muttered a spell and watched as the table began to shift to its prior dignity. He walked over slowly to the fireplace, and sat on the couch next to Thierry's chair. He placed both of his elbows on the arm, and let his chin rest in between his palms. He wasn't going to leave until she forgave him, and he was trying to make that obvious. He sat there staring at her for what seemed like hours. He knew that she wouldn't really be reading, but it was amusing to watch her pretend.

Thierry mumbled softly under her breath when he broke the table. She kept quiet instead of making a comment about the fact he was something he was denying. When he fixed the chair, she saw him make his way to the couch that was by her. She shifted so her back was to him, shivering from the fact the his stare was burning holes in her back. "Jace, leave me alone. I tried to help you and you done nothing but call me crazy." She said, turning to glare at him. "We arent friends, I'm a little fifth year who is use to being by herself. You are a whatever year who looks like he has the girls all over him. We can go back to that." She told him before shaking her head once. "Who are you again?" She asked him with a sarcastic tone, turning her head back to her book.

Jace said nothing as he tried to figure out how to voice the words running through his mind. He didn't feel like correcting it all. He was nervous. He'd never been nervous in his entire life. He stood up and walked towards her. He was now towering over the small girl curled up on the chair. "...And if I don't want to leave you alone? What am I to do then?" he asked as he lowered her book. "I've already apologized for that, now are you going to forgive me or not? Seeing as I'm a "dog", I could just follow you around all the time until you do...Although, I think you'd get annoyed with that." Her words repeated off the list he'd made mentally to reply to. 'who looks like he has the girls all over him' he heard clearly in his head. A sly smile slowly covered his face. "You like me, don't you? That's why you haven't ripped off my head and sucked all my blood isn't it?" he asked softly, bending down closer to her face.

Thierry's grip on her book got tighter and tighter the more he spoke. She never called him a dog nor did she say he was. She wanted to just slap him over and over until he got the hint she didnt care for him or anything. Why was it so hard for someone like him to understand that? "Look, beast, I have been very nice towards you. If you dont leave me alone, I will bite you. And believe me, you will not like it no matter how much you try to say it will not hurt because it will." She hissed softly. She watched as he smiled and her eyes narrowed a bit. "What?" She asked him, as he pushed her book down. She took an annoyed like breath and watched him bend closer down towards her, making her back up into her chair. Her eyes widen when he asked her the question before laughing. "Me...like...you? Boy, you must be on something. I cant kill you unless you are proven to be a werewolf!" She told him, grabbing her stomach as let go of her book.

Jace looked at her for a moment, before walking back to the couch. "Why would you want to kill me in the first place?" he asked as he covered his eyes from the flares coming from the fireplaces. He waited and listened for her small voice to answer. He pulled out his wand and dimmed the fire a bit, before sprawling himself out. "Well then, I guess you'll have to deal with me following you around then." he said with a weak smile. "I tried to apologize, you know. You could have just forgiven me and made your life a lot easier." he added in a whisper, closing his eyes.

Thierry glared at him as she laid on the couch. She would just wait until he slept. Or she could be fair and go up to her dorm. "I think my bedroom is calling." She said, stuffing her things into her bag. She cleared her throat before she answered what he wanted. "I kill those below me, weaker then me. And you just happen to be in the same ranks as I. Killing you makes me more of a threat, dog." She siad, lifting her head up some as she pit her bag over her shoulders. "Dont even bother to follow me, you wont get up the stairs unless you have super sonic speed...but apperently, you arent a werewolf, so you would just end up falling." She told him, fliping her hair behind her shoulders and making her way towards the dorms.

Jace watched her as she fumbled with her things, trying to stuff them in her bag. He watched her face as she continued to talk. Her lips curled down with disgust at the end of each sentence. Her obvious distaste for him was slightly amusing, so he couldn't help but to smile to himself. "Awww. Leaving me so soon?" he said through a faked yawn. As she turned to go to her dorm, Jace felt a twinge of different emotions in his chest. A part of him was thankful for her rushed departure, but there was another part that was yearning for her to turn around and stay in the overly stuffed chair near the fireplace. He turned to face her. "What do you mean, same rank?" he called after her curiously. He jumped to his feet and was by her side in two swift movements.

Thierry said nothing to him as he walked beside her. She kept her eyes ahead of her as she walked up the stairs but then smirked. "You know...I think someone else's bedroom sounds fun." She said, walking up the boys dorm. She walked to each door, letting her mind go out to the people in there, only to find the one room that only had two other minds connected. She nodding, knowing it was Jace's dorm and she opened the door quietly, walking in and shutting the door behind. She made sure to lock it carefully before smirking. She thought about teasing Jace, letting him think she was going to kill his roommates and she laughed softly. She let her mind connect with him, walking towards his bed. 'You know...your room mates blood taste...wonderful...' She thought to him, laying down on his bed.

Jace looked at her hesitantly as she approached his dorm room. He inhaled slighty, but tried to not show how nervous he was. As she flew into the room, he realized what she was about to do. Jace tried to wedge his foot in the doorway, but was to slow. She closed the door, and it was automatically followed by a click of the lock. He sighed and let his head make a soft thud as it hit his door. "Thierry. Stop acting like a little kid. I apologized to you already. What more do you want from me?" he asked as calmly as he could. His hand flew to the door knob. His hands began to shake feircely as he tried to ease the door open. "Thierry, please just open the door." he said through gritted teeth. As she began talking to him mentally, he couldn't help but gasp at what she had claimed to doing. He poind his fist against the large wooden door. "Open the door Thierry!" he bellowed.

Thierry just stood there for a few seconds before walking over to his bed and jumping down on it. With a soft hum, she kept herself entertain as she heard him beg for her to open the door. "I think I'll keep it locked." She said to him, pulling her wand out and making sure the other would stay asleep. She mumbled a soft charm before laying back on the bed. "Or I could be down right evil and kill them infront of you, you know." She said softly to herself, before yawning. After awhile, she rolled her eyes and opened the door. "Come in, cry baby." She mumbled to him, biting down softly on her lip from saying something mean towards him. "Have fun crying about your little room mates? Dont worry, none of them are my blood type anyways." She told him,.

Jace streched his hands straight against the side of his thigh, trying hard not to show his anger. He began shaking feriously with anger. He realized that it was a failed mission and let his hands curl into tight fists. He tried to keep his face as relaxed as possible. "Listen Thierry. If you don't want to talk to me, then don't." he said cooly through a fake yawn. He let his hands relax by his side as he began walking towards his bed. "In fact, I'm feeling a bit tired now." he continued wearily. Upon reaching his bed he lifted the girl up, laid down and set her on the bed beside him in a few fluid motions. "You win. Go ahead...leave." he whispered softly. He looked at her for a few moments before turning on his side. The blood on her arm was burned into his memory. "And I'm not a cry baby." he mumbled more to himself than to Thierry.

Thierry mumbled softly as she was picked up and then sat back down. "You are too a cry baby." She mumbled, but she didnt move from where she was sat at. She yawned softly, just laying there. "But seeing as you ruined my fun, I get to ruin your sleep." She said with a small smirk on her face. She turned on her side, using her arm as a prop. Thierry used her other hand and ran her fingers threw his hair softly. She tugged at the ends of his hair with a small glare on her face. "You know, you really are a cry baby. I bet I could make you cry alot." She told him, letting her hand go to this neck. She sighed as she felt his blood run threw his viens.

Jace kept his eyes shut as he listened to the girl talk. He sighed softly as she called him a cry baby. "You are quite the name caller. First you accuse me of being a werewolf and now a cry baby?" he said jokingly. A slight chill ran down his spine as Thierry's icy hands went through his hair. "Ruin my sleep eh?" he asked nervously as she moved her hand to his neck. "How exaclty do you plan on doing that?" he whispered into her ear as his eye flew open. He grasped her hand and pulled it away from his neck.

Thierry smirked softly as he grabbed her hand from his neck. She quickly pinned him down, sitting on his stomach with her arms crossed. "I could think of a way." She mumbled softly, shrugging her shoulders. "Then again, that would make effort for me." She said to herself. She shrugged her shoulders again before looking back down at him. "Now lets see...it's not my fault you are a cry baby werewolf..." She told him, letting her hands go back to his hair. She pulled his head back softly, keeping a firm grip on his hair. "You have soft hair, you know?" She told him, cocking her head to the side. "But that doesnt change the fact I hate you." She hissed softly.

Jace rolled his eyes as soon as Thierry had spoken her last few words. "Right, because you hate me sooooo much. Honestly the whole kindergarten fliratation method is flattering, but I've got to say that I prefer just going out on a date." he said with a slight smerk. He raised an eyebrow and looked up at her, before letting his eyes droop shut. He pulled his arms up, crossing them beneath his head. "Just so you know I can sleep with you sitting on top of me or not." he said, letting his voice die down in volume as the sentence continued. "Oh, and I am not a werewolf." he said through gritted teeth.

Thierry tried her best to hold in the laugh that was bubbling up in her. Flirting? That was something she never done. After a few seconds, she let the laugh out, looking down at his face that held a small but noticeable smirk. Shaking her head, she rolled off him, laying beside him. "I can prove you are...idiot." She hissed softly, letting her hand go to his. She traced the lines that were on his palm and then looked at her own hand. She didnt have any, not for the last few years. She remembered when she was little, always wanting to do a palm reading seeing as she grew up like a muggle, but now, that was something she hated. Becasue she didnt have anything to read on her hand. She was doomed for one thing, and one thing only. Immortal. She could die, she knew that, but she was doomed to live like this forever or until she was killed, only to go to the lake of fire and burn for enternity. With a small sigh, she let his hand go, closing her eyes and laying her hands on her stomach.

Jace remained silent, arching an eyebrow as she began to laugh. He honestly couldn't tell if she was nervous or amused by his words. He sighed and decided to let it go. As she rolled off of him and whispered, his eyes flew open. His arm hitting her sides accidently as he sat up. He turned and looked at Thierry's face in bewilderment. "What is it with you calling me all these names? Honestly, I don't know what in the name of Merlin's beard you are talking about. I'm tired," he paused as he faked a yawn before continuing. "...and I don't feel like being picked on anymore." He let his hand rest in hers. Her touch was cooler and more calming than it had been before.

Theirry didnt say anything and she wasnt planning to. She didnt have to have a reason for talking about someone...even if she did like them. She just kept her eyes closed, trying to think of something else, anything but the person beside her. "Sleep if you want, the worst that will happen is me draining you and I dont feel like feeding tonight, so you are in luck." She told him, opening her eyes to look at him. "Anything else you want to ask or talk about before I get up and take guard in the common room?" She asked him, blowing at a piece of hair that had fell onto her face. She knew she must have looked weird, blowing at her hair like an idiot who had nothign better to do.

Jace shook his head to himself as he thought. He looked down at her with an almost stunning smile drawn to face, brightening the mood a bit. "Yes. Actually I do have to questions." he paused, looking down at their hands. "The first : Shall we pick up this little argument tomorrow?" he looked back to her face waiting for an answer. A sly smerk replaced his grin as he continued to speak. "Also, when should I meet up with you for our first date?" his bright smile returned to his face. He'd never been a shy person and he usually just went with his gut. So, this bold invitation was something not that far out of character for him. Jace looked into to her eyes steadily, awaiting an answer. He slowly interlocked his fingers into hers.

Thierry stopped blowing at her hair and looked at him with one eyebrow raised. "Sure we can keep the arguement going..." She told him, before smiling. It was a smile she hadnt had in a while, a true smile. "Um...tomorrow afternoon?" she asked him, letting her hand close softly over his. She sat up, looking around the room. "But I need to leave before these people wake up and think something they shouldnt" She told him, pulling softly at her hair. With a struggle, she took her hand from his and stood up. "Unless you want to go down to the common room also, then come on." She told him, pushing her hair behind her ear.

Jace smiled to himself as he looked at Thierry's face glow with with honest happiness. As she sat up he looked away, almost mebarrase and let go of her hand unwillingly. His smile grew wider as she agreed to the date. "I would, but I really am tired. So, I don't think I'd be of much entertainment." he admitted sheepishly. He leaned back, letting himself rest on his elbows. He studied her face for a moment. Trying to read her thoughts, with little luck. "So..." he started slowly, unsure of what to say next. "I'll see you tomorrow afternoon?" he asked in a calm even tone.

Thierry smiled and nodded. "Night.." She said softly, walking towards the door. She opened it quietly and walked out, shutting the door softly behind her. She made her way to the common room, humming to herself. When she reached the bottom, she froze before turning around. "What do you want, Luke..?" She asked harshly. She still would never know how he got the password to her common room, but that didnt stop her from wanting to rip him to shreads. He just raised an eyebrow, looking down at a book in his lap. With in a few seconds, she knew what it was. "What gave you the right to read my diary!" She yelled harshly at him, glaring deadly.

Jace jumped as he heard Thierry yelling angrily. It took him a moment to realize that it wasn't directed at him and that she had left the room. He hopped out of bed and opened the door silently, listening to the conversation below. Whatever was going on, Thierry didn't sound happy at all. He raced down the stairs, and bumped into her standing at the end of the stairs. "Everything alright down here?" he asked in a simulated voice through a fake yawn. "I hear uhm, yelling and..." he let his voice trail off as he saw a boy sitting down with a small book in his lap. He looked back and forth between the two.

Luke just smirked at her. "Hey now...theres nothing in here that I didnt..." he started until he heard movenment. Thierry glared but stopped as she heard something also, only to be bumped into. She turned around and saw Jace. "I'm ok...you go back to bed." She told him sternly, looking back at Luke. He smirked again before laughing. "Oh how sweet..." He said, shaking his head. "My little cousin with a wizard. Just when I didnt think you could stoop lower you do." He said, standing up. She kept her eyes narrowed at him. "I was a wizard too." She told him harshly. He just raised his eyebrows, the smirk still on his face.

Jace shook his head slightly towards Thierry. He looked up at the boy before them. He knew him from somewhere, but he couldn't quite place it. Jace let his arms fall to his side. His hand gently touching hers. As the boy continued to talk and tease Thierry, he realized where he'd seen him before. "Stoop any lower? Those are some pretty big words for someone who's going with the Potter girl. Wouldn't you think?" he asked in a harsh tone. He let his hand grab Thierry's ever so gently, but in a way that ,ade it obvious he wouldn't leave. He studied the boy's face waiting to see how he'd react.

Luke let his eyes snap to the boy. "Who is to say she is still a witch?" He asked him, eyebrows raised. "Who isnt to say I bit her and turned her into what I am...?" He asked him with a small smirk. Thierry took a deep breath to calm herself, but so far, it wasnt working. "Luke...what do you want?" She asked him, trying her best not to snap and say something she didnt want to. The warmth that came from Jace's hand lowered her anger, but she didnt say anything but took a small step back to be beside Jace. Luke looked at her and she glared softly. "Mother wanted you to have something..." He told her, taking a small box from his robes. "Here." he told her, setting it down on the table. He took a seat back in the chair he had been in a few minutes ago.

Jace held back a grimmace. "Its no secret that you hate what you are." he shot back at Luke. He watched him carefully. He didn't know why, but he felt like he needed to protect Thierry. He knew she was well able to protect herself though. His whole body began to shiver as he looked hatefully towards Luke. Jace squeezed Thierry's hand gently. Mother? They can possibly...But how? he thought to himself. His mind rewound to a moment when Thierry had said she had every right to kill his kind, when she had thought he was a werewolf. Now, here she was standing in a room with a werewolf who was possibly her brother. Jace watched as Luke threw the small box to Thierry. He let go of her hand instinctevly, so she would be able to catch it. As soon as he pulled away from her he realized that his skin felt like it was burning.
