Biography: You!

For this class, like many that will be coming after I was you to create a short biography on the person in question. For your first assignment it will in fact be you! Later classes will include HP characters! Have fun!

Part one: Create your doll

For part one you must create your character, this time yourself, using the doll maker listed below. Create it to bring out your personality and show the real you. Pick the hair, clothes, or any other accessories that just shout you! The more creative you are the more points you will earn!

Part Two: Short paragraph

Now that you created your character it’s now time to explain why you dressed them up the way you did. Why did you pick those clothes? Do you have any accessories? Why is that? Please explain why the character looks like they do. Make sure the word count is more than 200 words. The longer the more points you’ll earn.

Part Three: The Bio

Now onto the main part of this assignment, I want you to write a short biography on the character, in this case you. Describe how growing up for you was or even what you are well known for. It could be real life or something that you just created. If you want to say you became a witch who went to Hogwarts and later became an Auror be my guess. Just make sure it’s longer than 500 words. The more creative and the more you write the more points you’ll get.

Melanie the Harry Potter doll (or perhaps more specifically, FaerieofDoom the Harry Potter doll) is sporting her favourite set of the Hogwarts uniform. As you can see, she’s wearing the warm woollen jumper, Gryffindor crested, as in this transitional weather period it is not yet too cold, and she would overheat were she to wear the full robes. She’s also wearing the grey pleated skirt: its movement is less restrictive than the pants that the boys wear, and she enjoys the freedom to choose whether or not she’ll sport stockings that day. As you can see, she decided not to wear them on this day.

Under her jumper is her crisp collared white Oxford shirt, pressed and clean from a recent trip to the Hogwarts laundry (courtesy of the House Elves). About her neck is her beloved Gryffindor tie (tied in the Windsor fashion) in scarlet red and stunning yellow gold colours. Her pride in her house is very important, and shows in her choice of dress.

She wears practical brown shoes and socks, so that her feet do not ache at the end of the long days of walking to class at Hogwarts.

Her eyes have been spelled blue by an accident in Charms class. She plans to see Madam Pomfrey about it after Lunch (yummy, she smells sheppard’s pie!). They go cross-eyed of their own accord, though – mostly she does it for effect, but sometimes staring at something for a long time makes her eyes do funny things. It also helps to see ghosts more clearly. Her eyesight is also terrible, and so she wears glasses to rectify the problem. Today, she chose to wear her long brown hear out, and it has reverted to its naturally full and wavy way.

In her hand is her wand; Melanie (FoD) is proud of her magic, and never leaves home without her wand (elm wood and Veela hair, 13 2/4 inches). Her familiar, a beautiful brown screech owl by the name of Oscar, spends a lot of time with her, and is thus included in the picture.

Part 3:
Bio

Melanie grew up on the wrong side of the pond. The extreme wrong side. In fact, she lived no where near the pond. She grew up in Australia, a whole other continent, and nearly as far away from the pond as you could get. She’d never even heard of England or the pond until she had to move there.

Hers was a blissful childhood. Born to Muggles, she had no idea of her gift – all she knew was that sometimes, inexplicable things happened when she felt endangered or she was particularly emotional. When she was seven, she’d been chasing after a crocodile in Cairns and before she knew it, it had turned around and taken a snap at her leg. Of course, for almost any other child it would have meant the loss of the limb – but Melanie had that extra something in her which sprung up around her in the form of a shield just millimetres before the croc’s teeth reached her young flesh. She’d put that incident down to the crocodile’s own misjudgement. Steve saved her after that.

She loved to ride the local kangaroos to school, most days. They would come to her when she whistled, and then she would jump in their pouches (sometimes sharing with the baby joey) and they would communicate about their previous day’s experience on the way. Even when she got too big and heavy to fit, the kangaroo never had any trouble carrying her. It was like their pouches got bigger, and she lighter, whenever she hopped in.

When it rained, Mel would climb the blue gum trees that grew out back. While the sheep herded in together under the shelter of a great acacia tree at one end of the paddock, Mel coaxed the local koala bears to her branch and would feed them eucalyptus leaves as she watched the dust of the outback settle under the harsh rains. Those were the best days, when she knew that her family’s crops would be okay that season.

One year, a particularly dry one, she saw her father stand against the railing next to the house. He looked out across his fields, which were in bad shape. The rain had not come that year, and he was sad that his family would have to live it rough until next year, when the weather may or may not cater to their needs. There was a heavy rain for the next week after that. And a lighter rain for the next two.

Once an echidna found its way into Mel’s favourite secret place. She called it Barry and carried it around like a baby in her arms. She’d even pack it in her backpack and take Barry with her to school some days. Somehow, his spikes never bothered her. Barry left her to find the ocean one day, and she wished him luck.

When she turned 10 her family moved to England to help her ailing grandmother in her old age. The year after, she got her Hogwarts letter. The rest is history.

Part 2: Short Paragraph!

My Doll is called Jade (well I am) and she is wearing a simple Hogwarts uniform. But because Jade doesn't really like to follow strict rules she has got on some of her own shoes on which are pink and so stand out if she is in a crowd (she doesn't like to blend in). But just because Jade likes to stand out doesn't mean that she isn't a hard worker!

You will notice that her hair is over one shoulder; this is to keep her fringe off her face when working in class. Another thing that you have probably noticed is the "stuff on her cheeks"! Yes, that is blusher which she puts on in the morning and it actually makes her look quite nice (I know it looks awful on the doll but I couldn't find one that makes her look nice). Jade's tongue is also out of her mouth but this doesn't mean that that is how she walks around, it is to show that Jade is a bit of a joker when she wants to be. Outside of the class she likes to make her friends laugh and be a bit cheeky about other students behind their backs.

Jade doesn't have glasses but she probably needs them and all her friends say so. The reason being is that she sometimes walks into things and her friends had to stop her from walking off the edge of a moving staircase!

However, at the end of a long day Jade likes nothing better than to sit down in the Ravenclaw common room with her cat, Morgana, and spin her wand (Dragon heartstring, pear wood, 13 inches, reasonably supple) between her fingers.

Part 3: The Bio

Jade grew up in the North West of England with her mother (who was a muggle), she never knew her father but she did know that he was a wizard. When the letter in the post came it was a big shock to both Jade and her mother as they never knew that magic could be "inherited". All of Jade's supplies where bought the same day the letter was opened and they got the money from a vault that Jade's father had put savings there for her so that she could get the letter and go to Hogwarts as a surprise. Jade never bought a new pet; instead she took her cat from home because she wanted a little bit a home to always be with her.

Jade thought that she had magic once when she was nine. This is because she managed to shrink her cat so it could fit in her school bag. Luckily the teacher or the pupils are her primary school found out and when she got home Jade tried to restore her cat to its normal size but failed. Over time the spell wore off and the cat regained its natural size (although its tail was very short). Jade’s mum realised what had happened but she never said anything until she turned ten, which is when she told Jade that her father was a wizard. At first she never believed her mother but over a couple of months she began to realise that her mother wasn’t joking.

At Hogwarts, Jade took a liking to Potions, History of Magic and Transfiguration and she would sometimes stay up at night reading ahead in the text books. Jade's least favourite lessons were Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology because she never liked to get her hands dirty but they were good lessons to socialise in. As Jade got into her third year she became a part of the Ravenclaw quidditch team as their Seeker and was actually very good because she turned up for every training. As a Prefect in her fifth year, Jade liked to help the first years a lot but had to focus on revising for her OWLS a lot. She was annoyed with this because in that year she never got round to having a lot of free time. In Jade's seventh year she wanted to be Head Girl but was too scared to tell people that it was her dream.

When Jade left Hogwarts she left with a high amount of NEWTS and she had even grown to like Defense Against the Dark Arts. In fact she liked it so much that she was a teacher of it at Hogwarts for 51 years. She was also the Head of Ravenclaw house and the Deputy Head teacher (but she never became Head teacher). During that time she was also in Wizengamot and remained there even longer than she did at Hogwarts.

Jade married an auror and they had two children together who both ended up going to Hogwarts.
