I thought it was cute, but it was a bit too intimate for just friends.

No, it wasn't in the books, it shouldn't have been there.

So I know this was being discussed a bit in the movie thread but I thought I'd open a poll/discussion here for just the Hermione/Harry dancing scene.
Personally, I thought the scene was well done and was a nice addition to the movies. Though I can see where some people might say it was too intimate, the purpose, in my opinion, was to show one friend cheering the other up while also showing the possibility of what could have happened between Harry and Hermione, because they did, after all, go through things together than Ron didn't.
I think it was in Amber's siggy that she had a quote from J.K. Rowling about just this: "Now the fact is that Hermione shares moments with Harry that Ron will never be able to participate in. He walked out. She shared something very intense with Harry. So I think it could have gone that way."
So I thought this scene was an amazing addition and I don't think it makes it look like Harry's debating between Hermione and Ginny or anything.
As for the song choice, I loved O' Children by Nick Cave. It was perfect for the scene. It fit the bittersweet feeling of the scene perfectly. For once you get to see Harry and Hermione let go and act like children for a bit, something none of them have ever really been able to do, especially Harry. Now I'm obsessed with this song and can't stop listening to it! Ahhhh!
Anyway, I think this is my favorite scene from the whole movie. It was so well done; Emma and Dan did a great job.

Imma just jump out there and say I hated it.
It wasn't in the book. Where'd the directors come off with this idea?
Im sorry.
I do think it was cute and funny yes, and it could be romantic. I think it was far too intimate for them since we all know who they end up with.
I do agree that it was good for Harry to try and cheer her up.
But, well, that's just not how it goes down in the books, and the movies are supposed to be visual depictions of the books.
Maybe JK Rowling was okay with them doing, but I'm not.
I'm not gunna be mean and unreasonable about this. I understand the opposing side, I just disagree with it.

Okay, I'm gonna have to disagree and come back to say that of all the things that they've ever added into the movies the dance scene is by far the best. It shows something that could have easily happened in the books and fits in perfectly with the storyline.
And as a Harmony shipper, since day one, I've gotta say that just because you end up with someone doesn't mean you can't have other moments with other people. Even within the book there are loooooads of Harry/Hermione books even though we all know who they end up with. *huggles ship*

I agree with Amber. Out of all of the weird, strange, ridiculous things that have been added into the movies, this was definitley the most realistic. Because Hermione and Harry do share some moments together and I think this could have happened in the book. It's just Harry and Hermione alone and they've been so miserable lately that they finally just find a way to have fun. I think it was there to show how lonely they both were and how lost she felt without Ron.
