Being born a Squib in the Wizard World can be really hard. In this class I want you to write a letter to a person you know is a Squib and try to convince them to integrate the Muggle World, explain the many ways this is possible and how that person would have a better life that way from Professional options to entertainment, to education, include anything you feel could help that person choose a Muggle life. No less than 350 words allowed.

You are my sister and you are a squib. Do not hate me because I am a witch but love me. You can find piece amoung muggles and your own talent that will seem like magic to them. You are special you just need to give this a try. I love you and I will support you. huggles

To My Dearest Molly,

My how things have changed, hmm? I know you are still feeling bitter about the fact that you are….still unable to perform magic. I still remember the pain that was behind your eyes when the letters came and yours never arrived. I wish you would stop the feelings you have towards me, as I have no say in what happens. I begged for the headmaster to look over the list and try to figure out what happened. It’s been eight years now and I’ve just finished Hogwarts. I hear the war is starting and our dearest London is at the heart of it. I’m not completely sure, but I believe the Minister of Magic is sending out enforcement. Please, don’t be mad at me. I’ve talked to my Muggle Studies professor, Madam Ablenie, and she had given me information that I think you will enjoy. I know how you love to help people and I know you have been studying some type of healing in the muggle schools in London (mother has told me all about it, I’m so proud of you my twin!). Have you thought about becoming a healer? During this terrible war, your touch could help many warriors.

I know you feel that our family has abandoned you since we left you in London, but dear, please remember we couldn’t have anyone knowing about you. The Slytherin pride our family has couldn’t bear it. We love, we do sister, but unfortunately, it is time that you make your own choice, away from us. Madam Albenie has arranged for the Head of St. Mungos for Injuries and Maladies to train you. That will teach you muggle healing and provide you a chance to work at St. Mary’s Catholic Hospital. I’m not sure where that is, but it would be better, in the long run. They help several….people who are unable to perform magic find jobs related to the magical fields, like healing. I believe they call them nurses in the muggle world. I hear you will enjoy it. Please, consider this. It is time for you to leave our home and explore other options. We will visit once a month, but until then you have to leave. To protect our family and our name. Please do not be mad, my dearest sister. You must understand why you must do this.

I know you have tried desperately to become a witch, but now it’s time to face the truth- you are not. You are…a squib. Squibs can’t survive in our world. We are trying to protect you and we need you to go into the muggle world. We need you to change your last name so you aren’t hurt by other witches and wizards. The Riddle name is no longer safe if you carry it and we just want you to be happy.
