| Is Lockhart incurable? Because in CoS on page 364 (British version) Dumbledore says he's gone off to recover his memory, but in OotP he's put in the permanent ward. Im confused! Perhaps it isn't important but it is something I picked up on | |

| Maybe, he, like Neville is believed to have been, suffered such a powerful memory charm it will take a very long time for it to cure?
I didn't notice this, actually

| Neville? Ok i have missed something *goes to reread the books*
Maybe he is in the permanent ward as it will take a long time, if at all, to recover his mamory, though Dumbledore is always a optamistic person

| Thats actually a good question.
I think he'll be abele to get cured, maybe by a really powerful memory charm or potion, but we'll never find out i don't think. But, I think they did mention him in book 5...i havent read it in about a year tho. My couson borrowed it and I haven't gotten in back.

| He is in the permanant ward with Nevilles parents. We know that they are incurable so we need to assume Lockhart is too. Maybe it is because one of his own spells backfired on him. Maybe that makes it worse. Also the wand was broken so maybe that has something to do with it? I'm not sure. Great question. | |

| I think that DUmbledore was just being optomistic and trying to show Harry and ROn everything was alright. Maybe he will go home soon and have like a healer come a stay with him. Or he could go back to live with his Mumsy. LOL! it doesnt really matter though, I seriously doubt it will affect the last book | |

| Yeah. I think its gone for good. It didn't really have a big impact on the books though except for in 5 for moving the plot to Neville's Parents | |

| ^I agree. I think that Dumbledore was just saying that. I mean Harry and Ron went through a lot in the chamber, and I don't think he wanted them to worry about anything else. Although since they didn't really like Lockhart, I don't see why they would care if he got his memory back or not. Haha. But I agree that Dumbledore was just being optimistic. | |

| Yea he did start to get some of it. I guess maybe he might be able to get it back later. Maybe there will be a breakthrough in magical healing stuff and they be able to bring back all of his memory or maybe most of it. You never know! | |

| Yeah, I think if Lockhart gets his memory back it'll take a while, since he such an expert on memory charms and all. And also, it must be a very slow process to get your memory back, because, as we know, Voldemort somehow broke the memory charms around Bertha but in doing so made her "damaged" as he says...though we don't know the exact methods, I don't think it could've been tortured cause that wouldn't break the memory charm. But anyway, my point is, in order to get your memory back and still be fine afterwards I think it must be a slow recovery. | |
