| I thought I'd make a topic to talk about one of my favourite series of books apart from Harry Potter, the series by Malorie Blackman which begins with Noughts & Crosses.
I think these books are amazing, they are written in a unique style and the plot is just so thought provoking and interesting.
The plot deals primarily with the lives of two people, Sephy (a cross) and Callum (a nought). In their world, noughts and crosses are types of people - the noughts are black and the crosses white. In their world, there is a sort of reversed apartheid, and it basically tells of their lives as friends and more.
I would really, really recommend this book to any one who hasn't read it (as well as the sequels).
Has anyone read it, and if so, what are your thoughts?

| Wow, this book is awesome! Except amy, it's the crosses that are black and the noughts are white XD. I also really, really liked the concept. I like how blankers and daggers are these really offensive words in the world of noughts and crosses, since offensive words have always interested me. I've always wondered why authors writing about different societies don't make up their own offensive words, since any word can be offensive as long as it's meant to be and is said derisively. So when I came across the first 'offensive' word I was like "Yay! Go Malorie!" Another thing I like about it that it stands alone as a book. It ties up most of the loose ends and doesn't leave you gasping for another book. But at the same time, there are more if you want to continue. I've started intensely disliking series that make you wait to read the next book to find out how the first one ends. In my opinion, all trilogies should be made up of stand-alone books--books that each tell their own separate story, but are somehow interconnected. And the title! I didn't realize this until I went to the author's website and she explained what the title means, because we insane Americans call it Tic Tac Toe. Don't ask me why XD. Okay, I love how it keeps switching perspectives from Sephy to Callum and back. And the story...the sad, sad story... | |

| The whole series is awesome - good writing, interesting plot, credible characters ... loved it! What I really loved is how all the drastic plot turns surprise you, while still being justified and not just pulled out of thin air. And of course - all the tears I've cried with these books, I guess they're due to the whole writing being so intense and close to the characters, through the changes of perspective, for example. Oh and I loved Callie Rose in Checkmate! ^.^ And putting events that happened close to the conclusion of the book to the beginning and making the whole book more or less a flashback was a technique that worked really well in this case :D
Ah. Just random thoughts of mine. But anyhow - I loved all the three books! I borrowed them to a classmate and she also loved them! :D
