| If there is a topic like this feel free to throw things at me lol
I did a quick search and couldnt find one and am surprised there isnt one as there is a lot of speculation around about dumbledore's portrait coming into play in the last book. Will Dumbledore be able to offer advice via this way? Will this be one reason why harry goes back to hogwarts
Also how exactly does portraits work? I mean to say, is it an image of a person with their personalities and memories or is it like a ghost of the person or....

| if it were a memort Voldemort would stick it everywhere and put permanent charms on it and stay :D
well i think it will play a minor role... take example of the other portraits... they just communicate to important places by going to other portraits, and they are quicker to travel and send messages... Dumby has his portraits in many places, so it may have a role...

| It might play a part later but I'm only guessing that portraits work like a video camera that can record events or valuable information and keep it.
I don't really understand much about it though cuz pensieves can hold this information too. Hmm..it's something I have to think more on.

| Harry will be able to somewhat communicate with Dumbledore's portrait. Other portraits helped Dumbledore as we know when he was in his office. Just how much he will be able to help, I am not sure. Guess we will just have to wait and see. | |

| I think it will tell him to find Aberforth or something like that, nothing major becasue then there wouldn't be a point in killing him off would there? | |

| I would have agreed, but then I heard this podcast and it changed my mind. I think it was a Pottercast but he could have been a Mugglecast too. either way I'm not sure. Anyway, it quoted Jo from an interview saying that portraits are of dead people who just spit out catch prases and have an imprint of their charectors personality. In other words, the portarait of Phinneas Nigglius (sp) reacted the way the real alive one would have reacted hwne Sirius died. Iwth this, I doubt that Dumbledore's portrait will give away any major information, because if it does, what was the point of killing off Dumbledore? He couldn't kill Voldy anyway. | |

| They are there to help the headmaster, in this case headmistress not harry. now if mcgonacall is a death eater as some presume then maybe he wont be of any help but if not then again he is only is to show personality traits not action. | |

| I think it will play quite an important part and I truly hope so becuase that would mean that Harry would go back to Hogwarts at least for a little bit XD which would be great. I also think that Harry will find some comfort in talking to his portrait but I think that Dumbledore's pensieve will be more important than his portrait. | |
