| Muggle Inventions: Inventions E-F
Here we go again! You’ll be bored of me by the next one… XD
To those who haven’t yet done one of these: pick two muggle inventions from the list below, or, if you want, think of your own (that obviously begin with the letters E or F), and give me a detailed paragraph (or two… maybe even three!) on each of them, researching their history, stating what you could do magically to enhance the use of the items in question, and/or make them easier to use.
*Elastic bands *Engines *Electricity/Electronics *Ear Plugs *Escalators *E-mail *Explosives (whatever you do find, please don’t try this at home) *Engraving *Easels (the ones you paint with) *Eyeglasses
*Fibre optics *Fasteners (i.e. zips, buttons, etc.) *Film *Fingerprinting *Forensic Science *Freeze-drying foods *French fries *Floppy disks *Fountain pens *Frisbee
I swear, there’re no inventions beginning with E that haven’t got something to do with electricity. Apart from the ones up there. Anyway, the whole task is worth 100 points altogether – obviously the more detailed and creative you are, the more points you get. Hop to it!

| Elevators by KatieBellaTrix Muggles use elevators basically becasue they are lazy. Elevators are like little boxes (larger than telephone booths) that they ride up and down in. They use these instead of stairs or apparating. They are usually found in big buildings muggles call skyscrappers where us wizards would have appareted our used the floo network to get floor to floor. Though i happen to know the ministry has one used for lazy people or letters or children who can't apparate but there's is much more high tech. *smiles and winks* | |

| ]French Fries By: Miss Bookworm
To make a French Fry you simply cut a potato to your desired shape and size. Then you can fry the potato in vegetable or some other type of oil. After they are done you drown it in salt and a sugary red substance they call Ketchup. They did not originate in France, soldiers in a crazy muggle war called them French Fry’s when returning home. No, they could not apperate. Although some Witches and Wizards refuse to eat them because they can just feel all of the fat going to their thighs. And French Fry fat and Ketchup fat is impossible to remove with a wand. But I just love them because they are absolutely delicious and cheap at Muggle buildings where you can buy other fatty foods and delicacies called Fast Food Joints. But that’s an entirely different paper.
I found all of this information in a paper I did in fifth grade on my favorite food of all time.

| Finger printing By:Kikso
finger printing are used so much and they are so important for muggles because they use it to know who is the person to know their identity.and its so easy to do a finger print just put your finger in some ink and then put it on a paper.every single person (of the muggles) must have finger prints in his identity card (or i dunno what u call it). some other kind of finger prints is the transparent ones that no one can see, u can only see it if you put some special powder or smthg on it and this powder is only used by detectives and inspectors, and they use them for example when there is a murder they search for finger prints all over the crime scene to know who is the murderer. another example sometimes there are in banks safes that can only be opened by finger prints of only one person , the manager or i dunno but only 1 or 2 persons can open it with their fingerprints. a third example when there is a robbery or smthg they search for the finger prints where there was the robbery to know who is the thief. and there are a lot more examples but i only said 3 because if i continued i will never stop lol

| Ok, I know it's been awhile but I was recently reading this post and I realized I did only one invention. (the directions clearly said two). Oops! So here I go.The Muggle Frisbee by KatieBellaTrix The frisbee is a muggle play thing. It is a circular disk used for throwing around instead of a ball or quaffle. It was invented by a baker Walter Russel Frisbie who was lookingh for a new marketing idea. He made pies in the thin tin disks. Later, a bunch of college students used them for playing catch. A decade after, a flying saucer nut (sorry, I'm a nonbeliever) designed the saucer like disk intened for playing catch for a company called Wham-0. It was when he realized the craze of pie tins that he changed the name to Frisbie, changing the spelling to frisbee to avoid any legal problems. There you have it, the frisbee. To make it better by magical means, a levitating charm would be placed on it, or more like a boomerang one too, so you wouldn't need to or more people to play. | ELASTIC BAND
The elastic band or more known as the rubber band is a short length of combined rubber and latex in shape of a loop. Most bands are used to hold multiple objects together, such as pencils or papers or poster boards. Another use of rubber bands is in orthodontics where it helps to align teeth (mostly for braces) And although, they were not meant for this purpose theu are also used as a sling shot. It is harmless, but stings when used on another person. One I did not know is they are for computer use as well. To help reduce the noise in the computer case.
FILM
Film is also known as motion picture. THey are produced by recording people, objects or animal with camera or creating them using animation. They come together in a series of frames, but when shown in rapid succession, the motion of it is seen by the viewer. Film is considered an art form. They educate, entertain and inspire audiences. They can be dubbed in different languages and add subtitles that translate the dialouge.

| Ear Plugs Muggels use earplugs to block out unwantewd noices or to protect ther ears they are un-able to perfum silencing spells it is the only way to block out annoying brothers or sister or their music. Muggels often wear them in a thing called a shop. A shop is a veary loud place where they make metal things most often. Or while watching fireworks loud things that they light on fire to watch explode most often for pure plesure. Ear plugs dumb little simple devices.
Explosives explosives are made to entertain muggels or to set things on fire and to break them into a million peices. They are often used in things call suicide bombings. they are sad really a muggle puts a bomb in the hood of their car lights it sits in the car kills himeself and many other muggels. Muggels are pathetic why not live as far as they can. They are also used in a thing called fireworks. They are used for muggels ammusment. You lit them and they sore into the sky explode and gives off differwent effects and colors. Explosives dumb yet entertaining

| I would like to preface this with I knew this information beforehand and as such do not have sources. Floppy Disk The floppy disc was once very commonly used with the computer. It has been almost completely made obsolete by the compact disc. The disc was common in the mid to late nineties. Before that, most people used a bigger disc. The floppy is a rectangle made out of hard plastic. It gets it name from the information source inside the plastic that was a softer and more floppy material. These were used for storing things. They contained computer games and many other things. Some people still use them, but now computers don't come with the floppy disc drive to read them. I am not sure how magic can make them better since most people don't use them. Ear Plugs These are used to block out noises. Some use them for loud noises, and some use them for softer noises. A common usage is wearing them while at air shows. The sounds the planes make are very loud. They can damage one's ears. Another usage is when one's roommate snores loudly. It blocks out the noise so that person can sleep in peace and quiet. Magic could make these better by making them perfect at blocking out sound. They currently just lessen the sound. | |

| ESCALATORSEscalator are moving stairs made of metal. These stairs were invented in 1897 by Jessie W. Reno. The first escalator was located at an amusement park in Coney Island, New York. The first set of moving stairs invented were actually used as an amusement park ride. They were moving steps with combed edges like the ones that are used all over the world today. Around the same time that Reno invented his escalator another man by the name of Charles Seeberger invented an escalator similar to the ones we use today, although the surface was smooth and had no combs on the steps making it not too safe to ride on when you had to step off of them. In 1921 a company by the name of Otis Elavator improved the escalators that were invented by Seeberger and Reno. They put the best of the two inventions together to make the escalators that we use today. A wizard could have improved on this invention by just simply waving their wand at a set of ordinary stairs and reciting an incantation to make them move on their own. Or they could, just simply, apperate up the stairs. FOUNTAIN PENThe fountain pen is a pen that uses a reserve of water-based ink that is located inside the pen. The tip or nib fills up with the ink when the pen is facing downward. Gravity helps to make the pen work properly. The tip of this pen looks like the tip of the modern day calligraphy pen. In the 1850's, the true fountain pen was invented. It was invented by a french student in Paris by the name of Romanian Petrache Poenaru. The only thing that could be improved with this pen by wizards is that they could invent a charm that would continuasly refill the pen when it was out of ink. To help me in this research I used: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page | |

| FrisbeesThe Frisbie Baking Company (1871-1958) of Bridgeport, Connecticut, made pies that were sold to many New England colleges. Hungry college students soon discovered that the empty pie tins could be tossed and caught, providing endless hours of game and sport. Many colleges have claimed to be the home of 'he who was first to fling.' Yale College has even argued that in 1820, a Yale undergraduate named Elihu Frisbie grabbed a passing collection tray from the chapel and flung it out into the campus, thereby becoming the true inventor of the Frisbie and winning glory for Yale. That tale is unlikely to be true since the words 'Frisbie's Pies' was embossed in all the original pie tins and from the word 'Frisbie' was coined the common name for the toy. The word 'Frisbee' is pronounced the same as the word 'Frisbie'. Rich Knerr (Wham-O) was in search of a catchy new name to help increase sales, after hearing about the original use of the terms 'Frisbie' and 'Frisbie-ing'. He borrowed from the two words to create the registered trademark Frisbee ®. Sales soared for the toy, due to Wham-O's clever marketing of Frisbee playing as a new sport. In 1964, the first professional model went on sale. Ed Headrick was the inventor at Wham-O who patented Wham-O's designs for the modern frisbee (U.S. patent 3,359,678). Ed Headrick's frisbee with its band of raised ridges called the Rings of Headrick had stablized flight as opposed to the wobbly flight of its predecessor the Pluto Platter. For a witch to put enhancements on a frisbee, adding sounds and making it disappear for a fleet second to add fun and excitement to the game. Like the snitch, a frisbee should have a mind of its own. E-mail Electronic mail is a natural use of networked communication technology that developed along with the evolution of the Internet. Indeed, message exchange in one form or another has existed from the early days of timesharing computers. Network capable email was developed for the ARPANET shortly after it's creation, and has now evolved into the powerful email technology that is the most widely used application on the Internet today. As a witch, i would enhance email by adding music automatically depending on the mood and type of letter you are sending thru email. Or adding your voice automatically so when the recipient reads your letter he or she is hearing your voice at the same time too.
