| There are a few professor's jobs coming up for advertisement within the next week. To apply for the job specified, simply reply to the designated topic with a short lesson plan and why you think that you would make a great professor. Professors need to be able to present classes to HE members, keep their classes up to date with creating classes, awarding housepoints, pm'ing elfie with the new housepoints etc etc. A professor needs a good knowledge of how classes work and a good knowledge of the site itself. You may bring in a new unique way of teaching, yet all classes need to be well presented and there can not be any bias towards your own house. In addition to you being selected to become a HE professor, you will be able to see the special hidden professors lounge forum and have the opportunity to aid with other aspects of the site. ASTRONOMY VACANCY If you would like to apply for the position of Astronomy professor, please follow the instructions above and reply to this topic. Applications will be viewed within this next week and the new professor will be informed as soon as possible | |

| I'd like to apply for this one.
My Lesson plans would consist of simply starting off easy with the planets to familiarize new members and old alike of the wonders of the universe.
1. Reviewing the planets- There would be some creative ideas along with many factual based lessons. Examples:
Part 1
1. What planet is the largest in mass and describe the matter in which it is made up of.
2.What is the smallest and how far is it from the sun
3. How many documented rings are there around saturn?
Part 2
Pick a planet of your choice and in 200-300 words and describe it in as much detail as possible.
Other lessons include the following:
-Document and discuss space travels
-Bring forth new ideas such as how the past discoveries could enhance our views on future space travels
-Make up a famous witch/wizard that made a discovery in space
-Lessons on many of the constellations and where they came from.
I believe that this class would benefit the members here for it would help them understand the universe around us. I feel I could teach this class and make it both fun while learning about the many secrets of the Universe, the planets, stars, space discoveries, travel and more. | |

| I would like to try out for this one... Planets: Lesson 1 Mercury From the class name above you could probably guess that we are going to be learning about Mercury this week. I will try to get through all the planets and then get to Pluto the former planet. For this lesson you will need to summerize my notes and do a classwork assignment and then homework. It may sound like a lot but it's not, I promise. Notes: Mercury is of coarse the first planet from the sun. Therefore, it is the hottest anf ithas the shortese orbit only 88 days. It cannot be seen easily becasue of its angle only making it visible at twilight. It is similar to the moon in texture because of heavily cratered and bumpy it is. Some things it lacks are naturalll satellites and a functional atomsphere. It is hottest in the center and colder at the poles similar to Earth. For more information PM me or cheack out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_%28planet%29. 1 paragraph summary worth 10 points.Classwork: Fill in the blanks. about mercury(like a worksheet) 15 pointsName of Planet: ____Mercury__________Distance from the sun: _________________ Named by: _________________ Highest temperature: _________________ Lowest Temperature: _________________ Homework: Research the Roman god Mercury. Include Greek name, symbol, and god of_____, however mor information is necessary. 25 pointsTotal Points Available: 50I would love to be an astronomy teacher. I am a dedicated student and would like to be a mroe involved part of the Hogwarts Expeirence. | |

| Well, here I am again. Herbology slipped through my hands but I’m ready to give it a shot at Astronomy. I was reluctant to apply for the job. I didn’t want to apply just because I didn’t got the other job. So I did a research and found some interest things that could give good lessons and this is part why I’d give a good professor I do research before doing a lesson therefore copy paste won’t easily pass through me. I love Astronomy and all related it has always worked a fascination on me. I always felt that I knew very little about it. But a good professor has to know he does not know everything about a subject he must research and learn himself and then pass that knowledge to the students. Here’s what my first lesson would be: “What is and what can you do with Astronomy?” PART 1 – Astronomy Basics1 – What is Astronomy? (1) 2 – What object was required to develop it into a modern science? (1) 3 – Distinguish between observational astronomy and theoretical astrophysics. (2) 4 – There are several astronomical objects choose 3 and explain them (you can be detailed on this one). (5) 5 – Tell and briefly explain (And I mean briefly) 2 interdisciplinary links between Astronomy and other scientific fields. (2) PART 2 – Astronomy History1 – Tell 3 civilizations that have mostly developed Astronomy in ancient times. (2) 2 – When is the obliquity of the ecliptic estimated to be discovered? Who discovered it? (2) 3 – Observational Astronomy was stagnant in middle Ages Europe but flourished elsewhere? Where was it? (1) 4 – Tell 2 important names to Astronomy during the renaissance. (2) 5 – When was proved the existence of earth’s Galaxy, The Milky Way, as a separate group of stars? (1) PART – 3 Major questions in Astronomy- Is there other life in the Universe? Intelligent life, perhaps? - Why did the Universe come to? Now dear students I always like you to exercise your imagination. Here’s the opportunity. Choose one of the questions above which astronomy’s been trying to answer since forever. Try to answer it between 100 to 200 words. (10) PART – 4 Astronomy and YouAstronomy’s not like Divination which only the Gifted can control, so in what ways can Astronomy help you in both the Muggle and the Wizard world? Dos it interests you? Answer this and other questions you might find relevant to the theme (No limit word count). (15) I’ll give a 5 extra bonus points to the student who does an excellent lesson, but only if there’s one. PART 1 – 12 PART 2 – 8 PART 3 – 10 PART 4 – 15 BONUS – 5 TOTAL POSSIBLE – 50 points----------------------------------------- If I make to professor my future lessons would have a more historical approach, “Greek, Hindu, Hebrew Astronomy”, and also technical and related subjects to Astronomy like “Archaoastronomy”, “Cosmology”. Only after this being relatively explored would I returned to planets and other cosmo objects. I maintain my statement about giving a short report to everyone who does my classes I’m sure that this is a motivating method people always want to know how they performed. | |
