| Job Application Job Applying For:Defense Against the Dark Arts Reasons Why I Want the Job, and What I Can Bring to HE:I really want the postion as professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts. I feel that it would really make me a more active member then I already am, and would bring me closer to other members. I would be able to bring alot to HE through this job. I would be able to help others who don't fallow the books as closely, and hopefully show them how wonderful HE is. I know I would be a good professor becasue I am on this site everyday, and I always check for updates, so students wouldn't have to wait forever for a new class to come out. I will also have interesting and fun lessons so people will be more active. After taking many of the classes here already, I really want to become a part of it all. Class Example:Unit 1- Lesson 1- Patronus PracticeOkay, For this class we will learn the magic behind the madness of a patronus. We all knoe quite a lot about them from Harry, but easier read then done! I think it would be a good idea to go over it becasue it can help us in many threating situations. 1. Name the instances in the books where Harry used a patrouns charm, and what he used them for. (please include chapter name but no page is needed) 2. What is (are) the creature(s) a patrounus can be used against effectivly. 3. Why do dementors flea befire the patrounus? What does it do to them? 4. What do you have to do to produce a patrouns. 5. List the fallowing vharector's patrouns forms: Essay-- In 100 words or more, please explain what your patronus would be and why, and why you think it would be a good protector, and a comfort to you. Bonus-- Name a memory you would use to produce your patrounus or Draw a picture of your patrounus

| Job applying for: The Arts
Reasons why you want the job and what you can bring to HE: Hmm.. well I dunno I like the subject. ok I love the subject, its easy yet its confusing. Because art isnt what everyone thinks it is. And I wouldnt approach it just as a class with homework. Id build it up. First classes would be of questions and finding out background information about art and the thing that people are studying. I'd try to teach the Fundementals through the homework first before giving out assighnments based off of the arts.
Class example: -This is just like I explained a first class I would do.-
Part one:1. Name three different kinds of art. 2. Of the three kinds of art you just named list someone who has become famouse from suceeding in each form of art. 3.What is the definition of art? 4.What is Literary art? 5. Name one person who's suceeded in Literary art. 6. Why is art important to you?
Part 2: What i your favorite type of art? Describe your favorite type of art including examples from famous artists or even unfamous artists in your choice of art. Make it as long or as short as you want. Keep in mind though the more explanitory you are the more chance for full points.
Bonus: Post a picture of a peice of art or an artist you mentioned when describing your favorite art.

| Job applying for: Defense Against the Dark arts, Reasons why you want the job and what you can bring to HE: To be honest I dont know why i want the job. I guess the dark arts pulls me to it. I think it is a great chance and to be able to set up lessons about it would be awsome. I also feel i may be a great proffeser since i ahve so much free time to grade and stuff. I may not be a harsh teacher but hopefully they will learn something. So i hope i get the chance to show what i got. Class example: Part one- pick a creature which you personally or most people fear. Explan why you or most people fear them. If you dont fear them tell why. Minuim of 50 words. Points 20. Part two- tell of one spell that should or is unforgivible. Tell why it is or should. | I'm applying for the Defence Against the Dark Arts post (surprise, eh? ).
I feel that I am suitable for this position because I'm a patient, mostly (hee!) friendly person who is also very creative and works hard at things that interest me, as this subject does greatly. I'm also looking to become more active in areas of HE other than Quidditch, and I think this would be a good way towards doing just that. I didn't apply for any professor jobs last time due to my work schedule and the impending Christmas Eve/Boxing Day/New Years Eve marathon, but work's calming down immensely now and I feel as if I have the time and the energy to put into making this class an interesting, fun, and exciting course. I also believe that I can bring a measured and balanced mind to the teaching, and I certainly have the organisational skill to pull it off.
Draft Lesson:
All questions are from canon unless otherwise stated. Remember to cite.
Section One - Dark Creatures
1. If you encounter a boggart, it will take which of the following forms? (3)
a) Your worst nightmare. b) Your worst memory. c) Your worst fear. d) A combination of all three.
2. A werewolf is vulnerable to the properties or influence of which two things (3):
a) Silver b) Crucifix c) The Full Moon d) Holy ground e) Animagi
3. If one were to drive off a Dementor, the incantation would be Expecto... (3)
a) Patronus b) Patronum c) Patronem d) Patrono e) Patronom
And for a bonus point, tell me what the caster must be thinking of as he is speaking the incantation. (1)
Section End - 10 points available.
Section Two - Dark Wizards
Fill in the blanks (5): The Dark Lord who battled for domination over the wizarding world before Lord Voldemort was named ___________. He was finally defeated in the year ____ by a wizard named _______________, and this victory is mentioned on the wizard's __________ ______ _____. (Bonus for perfect score).
Fill in the blanks (5): The founder of Slytherin House was named ________ ________. His house motif is a serpent, because this wizard was a famous ____________, meaning that he could communicate directly with serpents. He constructed a secret lair underneath Hogwarts named the _______ __ _______, where he was said to have left his pet _______ to purge the school of muggleborns when his heir returned to Howarts. (Bonus for perfect score).
Which of the following wizards is NOT a known Death Eater (2):
a.) Lucius Malfoy b.) Narcissa Malfoy c.) Julian Avery d.) Augustus Rookwood
What is the incantation for conjuring Voldemort's symbol of presence, known as the Dark Mark (3)?
a.) Morsmordre! b.) Mordremorte! c.) Mortor! d.) Voldemorte!
Section End - 15 Points Available.
Section Three - Dark Magic
The Dark Arts are a varied subject of study, with each branch even more insidious and deadly than the next. However, the classification of Dark is hazy at best, and is more an all-encompassing term rather than a defined set of rules and strictures that label something as dark. For the next assignment, class, I want you to choose one of the following areas of magical study and determine for me whether or not it is Dark or not, listing reasons for and against this and a conclusion that explains what result you have arrived at.
Fifteen points are available for this section, so please go into detail. (15)
The areas of study are:
a.) Occlumency. b.) Legilimency. c.) Blood Alchemy. d.) Unforgivable Curses. e.) Object enchantment. f.) Horcruxes.
For the next assignment class, and your final task in this lesson, twenty points are available, so you must go into detail if you wish to earn points for your House.
I want you to profile a known Dark Wizard for me. Include a reference photograph where possible, and list some or all of the following points:
a.) Why this wizard is considered Dark. b.) What his/her notable Dark actions have been to date. c.) What his/her fate has been up to HBP. d.) What his/her history is. e.) Why you think that this person turned Dark in the first place.
These are just guidelines, and extra points will be awarded for making it interesting and engaging to read.
LESSON END - 60 POINTS IN TOTAL.
You have your assignment class, I know, I know, it's Quidditch tomorrow...but your schoolwork must come first. Good luck, and I'll see you all bright and early on Monday morning!

| Job Applying for: The Arts
Reasons why you want the job and what you can bring to HE: I think I would be suitable for this job as I am a dedicated member of HE. I have wanted to be a professor of something but nothing has come up that had caught my eye until this. I am usually kept up to date with posts and happenings in HE. I also would give time to plan classes and unless I have a valid reason, would be willing to mark any homework posted. I’m also pretty much on my computer a lot so I wouldn’t get overrun with marking.
Class Example:
There are many kinds of arts. But in this class I’m focusing on Drama but more specifically the theatre and Playwright.
Part one: (two points for each question)
What was the name of the first western theatre?
Where was the first western theatre located?
Which civilisation owned this theatre?
What is the usual layout of a theatre? (Diagrams can be included but a description will be fine)
Where is the globe theatre situated?
When did a fire destroy the globe theatre?
Which famous Playwright preformed often in the globe theatre?
What is a Playwright?
When we say theatre to small children a lot of them will think “pantomime” but what is this?
Finish this famous Pantomime quote: “It’s _ _ _ _ _ _ you!”
Part Two:
For this you must write a short autobiography (200-250 words) about a playwright. Can be famous or infamous. Information must include
· Full Name · Date of birth · Date of Death (if applicable) · Places the playwright lived · Famous Plays/Poems the playwright has written · Something else interesting about the playwright.
30 points awarded maximum.
Extra Points will be given for extra information. Also extra points will be awarded for a short snippet on what you think of the playwright you have chosen.

| Job applying for: The Arts
Reasons why you want the job and what you can bring to HE: I'm a creative writing major at my college. I love teaching people to love the arts...while I never plan to teach in high school, I enjoy doing it for fun. While I am most well-versed in the writing aspect of the Arts, I've done a fair enough share of theatre and visual art for me to find stuff to teach on those as well. I come on HE at least once a day, and I have plenty of free time to grade and update. I will grade anything that's turned in, and I will be honest and unbiased in the grading.
Class example:
Part 1~
Many authors start by writing what they know. Write a short narrative from your personal experience. Choose one moment or event in YOUR life and tell me about it. This can be a sports event, a funny experience, anything you want! Be creative!
I'll be looking for the following elements for the grading:
1. Good grammar-- spell check is your friend! 2. Be descriptive. Show, don't just tell. 3. This must be at least 400 words, but more is always welcome!
This assignment is worth 40 points maximum.
Bonus~
Create a self-portrait of yourself. It can be as simple as creating a doll of yourself from an online doll-maker, or you can use a paint program. You can even draw a picture by hand and scan it into your computer. Be creative!
10 points

| Job applying for: Drama, Arts, and Music Class If you are already a professor, would you be keeping both classes?: I'm not a Proffie :D Reasons why you want the job and what you can bring to HE: I love the arts, and I take a drama class at my own school. It's something I am seriously interested in persuing it as a career. One thing about the arts that I really love is how it allows you to be creative and use your imagination. The way one person could direct a play, or interpret a painting, or play a piece on an instrument, could be completely different from the way another person would. There is no concrete right or wrong answer or interpretation. It's so free and I think that's wonderful. If I were a professor in this class, I would encourage the students to think, and not just go somewhere on HP Lexicon and find answers that they could be able to copy and paste. I'd want them to use their minds to answer the questions, not someone else's mind. All the classes I would teach would be informational, because there are some basics and definitions and things you do need to know. I understand that my teaching of a previous class did not end so well, but, truthfully, though Arithmancy is a thought provoking subject, I could not think freely with that class. I would be able to do that with this class. I'm a dedicated member of HE and would be very determined to be a dedicated Professor. Class example: Drama Class: The Nine View Points 1. What are the nine view points? Define each one. ((Okay so this is KIND OF getting answers from another source, but it's important )) (9 points) 2. Find one picture that describes each view point and explain how this picture is connected to that specific view point. An extra points will be given for each picture from a Harry Potter movie (36 points possible with bonus) Ponts Possible: 45 Art Class: Oil paintingsAll answers are to be given in at least two sentences. ((And yes, you need to find answers BEFORE you think XD)) 1. What is oil painting? (2 points) 2. Where did oil painting originate? (4 points) 3. What did they use in their oil paintings? (4 points) 4. Post a picture of an oil painting, include the author and title of the piece. What do you think is going on in the picture? (3o points) Bonus: Find another person's idea of what is going on in painting. How do your opinions differ? (1o points) Points possible: 50 Music Class: Songs and their Lyrics and Genres and...YOU 1. Pick any genre of music and define it. (4 points) 2. Choose a song that is classified in that genre and post its lyrics. (6 points) 3. Can you see the connection between the song and its genre? (6 points) 4. Do you think that it would be better classified in another genre? If so, which? (8 points) 5. What do you think the lyrics are about? Can you get a sense of a story from the song? What is the story? (1o points) 6. Does the song change how you feel? IE Is it a song that makes you want to cry? Do certain words in the song affect you? (6 points) Bonus: Write your own song that would be classified as the genre you chose. (1o points) Points Possible: 50 Creative Writing Mad Libs!Nothing can be more creative than sitting down with a mad libs and seeing what you can come up with. Make up your own mad libs, and post it here. Must be at least 8 sentences long, and you must have word spaces for: ~An article of clothing ~An adjective ~A liquid ~Verb ending with -ing ~Teacher ~Your school ~Plural Noun ~Present Tense Verb ~Singular Noun ~Adjective ~Singular noun ~Musical instrument (singular) (2o points) Try our your MadLibs on somebody and see what happens! An extra ten points if you relate the entire thing to Harry Potter! Points possible: 32 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope I have convinced you about my dedication to the Arts, Drama, and Music class at HE! :D | |
