Lavender Brown

Another character I neither love or hate. I just dont really have much thought on her at all

Her point in the story was to make Ron grow up mentally, and emotionally. Lets face there was no chemistry between the two it was just to show Hermione's feeling for Ron so she has no other point or place in the last book.

What to say about Lavender?

She was a pretty minor character until book six when she became Ron's girlfriend (read: snogging partner), and I think JKR may have used her as a plot device in that respect.

However, Ron's snogging partner could have been any nameless girl in the school, yet it was Lavender - so is there something we're supposed to see here?

I'm not entirely sure what I'm getting at, but why did JKR have it be Lavender that Ron got together with?

I agree with Katie and Amy that Lavendar was used as a plot device to let us know what Hermione's real feelings are twards Ron. Why they picked her I suppose is that there really aern't that many girls mentioned that are in Gryffindor. Lavendar is in Ron's year so picking her, I guess made sense to JKR. Had she picked a no-name for Ron I don't think it would have made such an impact. A more popular character, such as Katie Bell would have excited some readers on the fact that Ron was getting together with her, but where it was Lavendar and we don't know much about her, it just made us question what Hermione thought about the situation. Well, at least that is what it did for me. I didn't see the two ending up happy together when I first read about them "snogging"

I have no feelings twards Lavendar other than she is annoying and a little clingy. Her choice in gifts are horrible as are her choice of nick-names.

Yea, I agree with all of the above. I really dont think that Lavender was picked for a particular reason , jest becasue Parvarti really wasn't treated right by Harry at the Yuke Ball and Ron didnt treat her sister right so she's out, anyone from Slytherian is out, and we dont really know anyone else besides like Hannah Abott and Susan Bones who Ron doesn't have much intrest him, so it was kid of becasue she was there i guess

I don't really know how to say what type of character she is! She isn't all that nesscary in the story. But shes their anyway!

I think she was picked becuase she is a character we already know. There is not much to say on Lavender is there really she got her moment of fame in HBP and was used to Ron/Hermione to push closer together. I didn't like her much at all and I don't think Ron did really.

I don't think Ron liked her that much either but I think he had major hormones and Lavender was there. lol

I also think he wanted to make hermione jealous but that's just me...

yeah, even though i don't think her calling him Won-Won helped at all! lol!

Lavendar Brown is just another true love interferor like Cho Chang in my opinion. She just gets in the way a bit and is annoying.

i thnk her charactor ius funny and the story would be a little boring with out a few couple changes, i did want it toalways be Ron and Hermio0ne together since first year...

I agree with everyone that she was more of a plot device in making Ron grow up mentally, and that she was picked for the reasons polly said. I always felt bad for Hermione when Ron and Lavender together but thought that Lavender's treatment of Ron was hilarious--he got what he deserved! xD
