Alice and Frank Longbottom

One question I wonder about the Longbottoms is will they recover. If you remember Lockhart began to regain his memory and he was on the same ward as them. What if they do and then finish off the lestrangs?

As I said in the Lestrange thread, I don't think the Longbottom's will recover.

I think Alice, Frank and Neville are supposed to, in a way, parallel Lily, James and Harry.

Neville, as the other boy in the prophecy gives a good parallel for Harry, and the same with Alice and Frank. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if Harry can't have his parents back, I don't think Neville will either.

I don't think they will die...it's somehow more sad and more heartbreaking for Neville that they are there, but they don't and never will know who he is.

What if it is what Harry could of had - this would work if they 'woke up' (does that make any sense?)

I feel really bad for Neville but I am really proud of him too. Having the trio as his friends has helped him grow emotionally and charector wise and I really enjoy reading about him

Do you mean with their parents, or the prophecy. Becasue of parents no, becasue he knows how painful that is to Neville, but for the prophecy, maybe

Aren't they permantley like in the hospital. I think! I feel bad for Neville. I would hate my parents if they were like that!

Hate them if they were like that, thats a bit mean its not there fault. I would like to see them make a recovery but I don't think they will. I think there importance to the book will be for Neville's motivation and the reason he will want to help Harry and get revenge on Bellatrix.

Yeah how could you hate them for something that an evil person did to them.. thay didn't ask to be like that

Hating them would be wrong... loving them, watching them suffer, would be just plain difficult. Neville will always hate Bellatrix for that, and always have a desire for revenge. They were brave poeple, to withstand that torture. In a way, they were just protecting Neville, buy not telling anything. Think about it.

You know as I read Kathrine's post I was thinking that I'm surprized that Neville is so nice and caring even though his childhood was not so happy. He isn't mean or outwardly angry to what happened to his parents. Obviously it hirt him but he could of been like some people who are mad at the world.

That's true Katie about Neville but he has a big heart that wouldn't fit that personality.

I don't have many thoughts on Alice and Frank but from what I've heard they are good people and did not deserve to be tortred like they were.

I think the Bubblegum wrappers are soo sweet. I feel so bad for Neville because he really deserves parent's who can love him and tell him how special he is.

Hmmm...it might just be because he visits so much so his mother views him as a close friend who she can give them to because I don't think they recognize him as their son at all.

Brave Brave people, I think they were good characters. I think that they made Hasrry think that there was something worth fighting for. That it wasn't only him that suffered because of Voldemort

Yes, I agree totally. They gave the DA a motivation not ever to let something like what happened to them happen again.

The Longbottom's have the saddest story. I feel so bad for Neville but think the bubblegum wrapper thing is so cute! I can't imagine having both your parents be alive but they can't recognize you. It's so heartbreaking.
